the best way to support a kid like this is for fans to not live so extremely in the latest result. Not too high, not too low. Besides, he has a coach who can temper his ego and psychology. Always a good idea to let them do their jobs. Shavon's going to have setbacks. We may see the first tonight, since he's now going to have target on his back or the first time. It's a process, just like other sports. Rookie takes league by storm, league adjusts, rookie re-adjusts, etc. Personally, I think it's great that fans have a reason in a year like this to get excited about anything.

I'm pretty sure that's everyone's hope. Gallegos could use a little less pressure and Talley would do better not feeling like he was the only person who could score from a range under 26 feet. I figure the next few games we might see the opponents best defenders switch over to shavon (at least bigger guards and more nimble forwards) which seems to me would help dylan out quite a bit since he's capable of driving. I figure Groce will probably be the guy to unveil the inaugural "Stop Shields!" plan this season.

I have a feeling this is a cultural thing with the B1G. Freshmen stay in their little cages. Shavon really should have taken both honors this week. But if he keeps this up, he'll get his. Although now the league will adjust to him, just like baseball. And it'll be interesting to see how he does with increased attention in game planning.

I"m a big fan of the Axe defense, myself. Any opposing player who gets within 27 feet of the hoop gets an axe in the face. It's great for wearing down another team's depth, and certainly discourages quality shot selection. If you go with smaller, one-handed throwing axes, you can even extend this defense out to the half court line. The only vulnerability to this defense--aside from the frequent prosecution for homicide--is a full set of plate armor.

Benny'll be fine. Right now I'm looking at him as a backup point with maybe a defensive specialty and the occasional bomb. Those guys have value on a D1 roster. A lot to learn running a team on the floor in a top flight BCS conference. Unless someone's super talented, that takes time.

Ubel is the glue of this team. Shavon coming out like this now gives teams 3 players to grind on instead of two, and that will probably make a positive difference from here on out. And if Shavon draws a crowd, it might be what can get Dylan or Ray uncorked now that teams can't just sit on those two.

well, a road win is always good for the ol' rpi. this makes me happy. now on to upset Illinois, who's is entering a huge funk just like last season. And just in time.

he may get player of the week in conference. that's a great pickup for a freshman if it happens.
