  1. that was the book on Biggs, sadly. great talent, marshmallow head.
  2. I tend to agree on constantly just signing JUCO players but the PG we just offered will have 3 years left. I don't have a problem with signing JUCO players with that much elgible left. thanks for clearing that up. 3 years is good.
  3. tai's shown enough flashes of his potential to earn some benefit of the doubt for his freshman year. He's not the first kid to come in with some expectations and struggle to the adjustment that he's had. Obviously the thing with Fraschilla was sort of a kiss of death, but that doesn't mean we have to hold Tai to that evaluation. He just needs to become a solid starter in the B1G, and if he does, he'll be a good recruit. Anything beyond that is gravy. I see we offered that Juco PG recently. So maybe that helps out a bit, although we need to not get back into the habit of going to the JUCO well for quick fixes that might or might not fix. That helped do Doc in. I still have this phobia of 2 year players.

  5. Petteway's an easy kid to misread if you're convinced you can know someone from a few casual observations about their body language. I was sensitive to those criticisms early in the year because I'm like that as a person--easy to misread if you don't actually know me. I'm glad that people are coming around to him and getting past those initial reservations, because we really are very fortunate to have the guy. And he's got two more years left, and I think he's one of the top sophomores in the league right now. Edit: Oh, and he's doing most of this playing out of his natural position, too.
  6. yep. this gift had many ribbons, yet we could not get them to open. this will probably be the low point of the season, which is typical of us after just having the high point of the season 3 days ago. Only thing worse is if these jokers beat us in Lincoln. It's just going to be one of those jekyll hyde home-road seasons you get with most basketball teams.
  7. However, the players making this team volatile were brought in by THIS STAFF. Surely they knew what they were getting in to?? Of course they know. It's a very young team with only minimal player leadership. Bad things are going to happen to you, and we need to accept that at some level. This is a season where you just gotta take the good when you get it, and et through the bad when that comes as well. Now if they're playing like this next season, it's a different discussion.
  8. I won't destroy you for it. The paint job needs a few scratches at this point. He did not have a good game tonight at all. But this team is pretty volatile, and sometimes even good coaches can't get through. We saw last year he could coach a team with considerably less talent and depth, so I know he can coach. His players are making this staff earn their cash.
  9. You, sir, have slandered pillows. They're comfy, give our heads rest, and can be used by skilled assassins to great effect. How about marshmallows? Or maybe Junior Soakers ?
  10. Babies gotta teethe and all that. Let's wait until next year to fire up the cannibal cauldrons for the new regime.
  11. so what if other people are going overboard? it's not a reason to get *angry* with them, for crying out loud. You make it sound like they hit you with their cars or something. There's always going to be people who constantly look for reasons to jump off the ledge, and others who think every win is a harbinger of impending championships. That's life as a fan. Control what you can control.
  12. I expect some of this from his team. One step forward, one step back. They need to learn how to handle expectations, and in programs like ours, that takes time. That said, and I didn't see the game, but it sounded like coach didn't have his best outing. anyhoo, back to trying to get wins however we can.
  13. I get being upset about the loss. It sucked. But please consider not flamig other posters just because they're exuberant. It beats the hell out of manic depression.
  14. well, definitely not a feather in Miles' cap. This was a game you had to win. Everything lined up. If our plan was to huck up 3s, then the plan sucked. If it wasn't, then you have to get these kids to get back on track at some point during a game.
  15. well, we can't fire everyone for this, because that would be an overreaction. but can we at least withhold dinner and send them to their room?
  16. the adventure in self-hate that is Nebrasketball.
  17. not sure either team deserves a win.
  18. I'm going to have to watch Gymkata now to recover from this game.
  19. here come the fouls. that was my worry.
  20. this is dish throwing material. good teams just don't do this crap. thanks to pitch for getting some back, but man.... 7 pt lead, and PSU's really fortunate to be that close.
  21. frustrating. we should be burying these guys and back in the funeral home for treats.
  22. crap. radio game for me. gotta get ready for dorothy lynch dressing.
  23. Is it true that the arena is sitting on top of a massive breeding ground for nuclear zombies????????? I'm scared!
  24. a coin flip game. it helps to remind yourself that while the top of the conference isn't as good as last year, the bottom is better than last year. that includes PSU, just as it does us. we foul, we lose. we defend without fouling a ton early, and shoot at least 46%, we should win. Just be glad we get a second game this week. I was beginning to think we only played once a week.
  25. this PSU team will be very tough at home. i expect them to try to get us to foul first, not go after a bunch of threes, although we don't defend all that well on the perimeter. if we pass and drive like we did against OSU, we can win this game. Especially if we can get Newbill in trouble. They have no depth, so I expect us to actually run some in this game. I'm expecting a tough (and good) game.
