  3. I'm pretty confident in saying there is no way Rivers transfers unless he's completely homesick or unhappy here. He's going to get quite a bit of minutes at the 4 next year.. We're going to run a 4 out 1 in with him and Shields splitting time at the 4. Possibly Fuller, too, but I can't see him being strong enough as a true freshman to be effective on the defensive side at 4. That said, I can't see Rivers being unhappy here after the improvement he's shown under Miles. He has to be pretty happy with this staff and will want to continue to let them develop him

  4. Are you guys kidding? Have you watched any of Thurman's videos? It doesn't matter how many guys Nebraska currently has that are at the same position and physical build, you go after him for a number of reasons. If he came to Nebraska, he would instantly be the most athletic long player on the team. Thurman is 6'7", 205 lbs at the beginning of his Jr season and he can leap out of the gym and regularly finishes above the rim with authority. Thurman can also shoot the ball well from outside. As far as Central being thee feeder program in Nebraska...they are. They are the only team with the athletes that can go toe-to-toe with nationally highly ranked teams. One of the teams that Central went toe-to-toe with was Whitney Young (Chicago, IL), which is the team with multiple players that Nebrasketball fans were drooling over when they visited (including 2014 prospect Jahlil Okafor). Central only lost to Whitney Young 60-57. Thurman had 13 points in the game and Agau had 14 points. Central crushes other "good" teams in Nebraska, while going on their 40 game win streak. They are the feeder. Also, it doesn't matter how many scholarships Nebraska has for the 2014 class, they have to go after Thurman. People always talk about "Nebraska has to keep the few in-state D1 prospects from leaving the state", because they are so few and far between. That doesn't just happen on its own. It happens by building relationships with players, coaches, and schools, which happens by recruiting in-state D1 talent when it comes along. I'm not saying that Nebraska is screwed if they don't get Thurman, or that he will be the savior that will take Nebraska to the sweet16, but I am saying that Miles has to recruit this kid as hard as he recruited Agau. As far as the number of offers that he currently has, he just started his Jr season. I can assure you that his offer list will be much more impressive than Atewe's offer list was going into his senior year (who alot of people on this board seem to think Nebraska needs to get locked up), especially after Central played so well in a national tournament infront of multiple D1 coaches. Here is one video of Thurman. The intro of the video lists him as a Jr (which he currently is), but all of the highlights are actually from his So year. http://www.hudl.com/...hlights/9749383

  5. I'll give a little on each of the players I saw that look like D-1 guys. Gonzaga College Prep D.C.: Kris Jenkins- signed Villanova: very fluid post player with a little bit of touch. Probably a step slower due to some "weight" that could be transformed. Definitely a round mound of rebound. Bryant Crawford 2015 4* PG: flashy is how I'd describe him. No look passes, dikembe mutumbo stare downs on blocks, finger rolls and hard slams. Extremely cocky but for the most part every facet of his game backed it up. His defense especially for a young player was very good. Could shoot the 3 effectively but very slow release with a cock-eyed elbow. Would want though at NU. Archbishop Mitty: Aaron Gordon 2013 #6 5*: he is a poor mans Blake Griffin. Fluid, powerful post with amazing hops. He had very good hands and brought the ball up often. His team lost in overtime. I blame his coach for not starting him, wtf, and blame Aaron for not knowing what a free throw was. The other team did the hack a shaq method and he showed he was worse than Shaq and Dwight Howard combined on their worst night. He was 3 of 14 from the line. Some awesome talent there to be had though. Neuman-Goretti: Ja'Quan Newton 2014 4* Nebraska offer: He is a combo guard imo that tends to lean toward slasher. I left after 3 quarters because it was already 9:30 and had to get home so I missed his best scoring outburst apparently in the 4th. He was explosive with the ball though and had some great handles. Also showed a great prowess for rebounding. Reminded me of Jason Kidd earlier in his career with his style of play. Lamarr Kimble 2015 guard: interesting prospect. Couldnt find anywhere saying if he was related to Bo Kimble but I know Bo is from Philly. He and JaQuan both basically swapped the role of pg, similar to what I think miles wants to have with combo guards. Had about 12 points I can remember and had a nice jumper. West Linn: Payton Pritchard 2016 pg: hes a local kid that was invited to tryout for Team USA. Only stands about 5'10'', maybe, but for a freshman against a good team in Neuman he seemed to hold his own going against Newton. I saw about 6 points but he was in on a lot of assists. Saw he ended with 10 and 8. For a freshman I thought he looked pretty good. I will have to continue watching him through the years to see where he ends up.

  6. It's the "Curse of Akoy." We went all-in to land Akoy. Once he got away for certain and a "Plan B" player or two couldn't get qualified, we are scrambling for the best big still available--who just happens to be, in terms of ratings and rankings, somewhere WAY below the guys we were on from the beginning and closed. But hey . . . Tim Miles & Co. appear intent on getting this player in the fold as an athletic big to cause disruption in the paint on the defensive end--and who has potential to develop into something more. Here is some background information on Matthew from an article dated in December of 2011: "Matthew is of Nigerian decent and was born in Brampton, Ontario. He wasn’t anywhere as enthusiastic about basketball as some of his peers may have been--he admits he didn’t start taking basketball seriously until he was about 14, about the same time he hit a huge growth spurt. Matt now stands at 6’9, weighs about 225lbs and wears size 17 shoes."
