I think some of Coach Yori's reluctance to play in the WNIT may come from the shoddy treatment Nebraska got the last time we played.  At this time New Mexico was the favored child of the WNIT and the committee was determined that NM was to get a home game.  But their arena was not available.

So we waited and waited and waited for a week and a half until they decided that just maybe we should play this game. So it was scheduled into some arena on the far suburbs of Albuqerque.  So the team bus arrives and the entrance road was barricaded and no one around to remove the barricades.  So Coach Yori stormed off the bus and threw the barricades in the ditch.

I think at that time she said that she would never play in the WNIT again.  So we shall see.

Understand #22 had a great game.  Didn't understand why #43 sat out 19 minutes and 56 seconds of the second half.  #43 could have gone in for a minute here and there in order to give #22 a rest and drink.  Then, with 3.9 seconds remaining #43 is suddenly good enough to go in and set a screen.  She wasn't hurt.  She wanted to play.  I guess she pissed off somebody.  but...  OK, got it... next slide.

I do know the Huskers blew a 9 point lead in the 4th quarter.  I know #43 plays aggressive defense, and nobody on that team plays harder defense.  Granted, she's not much of a threat on the offensive end, so maybe that's why.

I will admit that I don't know much about basketball, and I'm not a coach...  However, as a fan I have several questions regarding a very young team in a big game and having two timeouts that are as puzzling, to me, as the Kennedy assassination.

But I guess we're "Rounds complete, end of mission, out."  Unfortunately, the target wasn't destroyed.

Yeah, that might discourage a coach from wanting to play in the WNIT. Kinda like how Coach Yori handled that!

We can't read Connie's mind of course, but some coaches are very "match up" conscious.  In the coaches mind, the sub must be a player that can effectively off set the other teams individual player's skill set, (that their to defend, and/or score on)

No idea if Connie thinks that way. Many coaches do.

Example:

In simple terms, if the other team has put in a fast wing player, then you as the coach you also put in a fast player to go against the other teams fast guy. Not sub a slow, clunky player.

Connie has needed to sub a lot this year, after almost not at all last year.

And the bench has been there some weeks, and two or three injured the next, so it's hard to get into a flow of subbing kids.

The other day Emily Wood never played. About everyone else did. why ???

Mentioned it before but I watched the Texas/ Baylor game a few days ago,  both teams had full benches. About 7 or 8, maybe 9 played for each team. That left 5 or 6 for each team, that didn't play at all.... in a 20+ point win for Baylor.

UConn wins by 30 or 40 and everyone doesn't play, or plays maybe 3 or 4 min. at the end of game.

have to admit, burns disappearance (for the most part) puzzled me, too---------but, whadda i know. i did notice, early in the game when a Rutgers player (Copper?) went on her butt out of bounds, burns reached out to help her up------but the rutgers player wanted no part of it.

The recurring leg issues are bothersome to say the least, but let's check the track record on 4 year people missing game or practice time.

Williams yes Moore no

Hooper yes

Cady, Brandi and Haliegh yes T no

Rachel yes

Ramerciero yes Havers no

Cincore, Romeo yes Woods no

Jess, Burns yes Simon no

By my count that's 11 of 16

I am not counting Anya, since she missed most last season or Clark for that matter.

1 year unfortunate

2 years a trend

3 years a problem

6 years what the heck

Not sure what, but we have got to be doing something wrong.

I feel that if there is a WNIT invite, then we should play. Even if Jess is too injured to play, I would still like to see us play. Another game for those that can play, especially the younger ones, would only help going into next year. Put Washington out there, Blackburn, Cinco, Romeo, Simon, Esther, Wood, Havers, and another game for our healthy senior Anya. That's 9 girls, and maybe Jess could play a few minutes, too.

shut down jess. if it was me, no way i play her even 1 minute with that stress fracture. all the huskers would need is for it to turn into a break! i would let it heal.

as far as burns? it appears she is going to have a postseason procedure done. i would consider getting that done asap, so she can be ready for any offseason workouts she may have planned. maybe her procedure is no big deal, we don't know. we would have to know a little more about what she will be having done.
