redsteve Posted February 25, 2016 Report Posted February 25, 2016 Looks pretty athletic from the short video Quote
mwm89 Posted February 26, 2016 Report Posted February 26, 2016 Sure hope she is athletic we can use more like that. Quote
redsteve Posted February 26, 2016 Report Posted February 26, 2016 Another article on Hannah...reached 2,000 pts. The more I see and read about her, the more impressive she seems to be. http://host.madison.com/wsj/sports/high-school/basketball/girls/wiaa-girls-basketball-hannah-whitish-breaks--point-barrier-as/article_02d19781-395d-52e0-8751-bdd03cf9b6c4.html Quote
Row6Seat10 Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 Just so we're all on the same page when it comes to pronouncing her last name "Whitish". It's pronounced "white-ish" the i is long. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 So it would be something like "The house was kind of Whiteish in color?" Quote
huskerchode Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 Instead of the White girl a few years ago, we pick up a Whitish girl now. Silverbacked1 1 Quote
Row6Seat10 Posted March 6, 2016 Report Posted March 6, 2016 Husker recruit Hannah Whitish had 32 points yesterday leading her top ranked Barneveld team over Hillsboro 66-34 in the Wisconsin Division 5 Sectional finals. Hannah and Barneveld now advance on to the Wisconsin State tournament in Green Bay for the 4th straight year starting next Friday to try and defend their state championship they won last year. http://host.madison.com/wsj/sports/high-school/basketball/girls/wiaa-girls-basketball-stoughton-puts-in-extra-effort-to-lock/article_c4bfc49d-652f-5f9c-a538-ed8f6374ece7.html Quote
redsteve Posted March 6, 2016 Report Posted March 6, 2016 The resumes of these girls coming in, is not only impressive skills by the point guards, and Eliely, and Whitish, but they also bring the winning mindset with them. They know what it takes to excel to the top in HS, and brings that to the next level at NU. Don't envy Connie next year, trying to sort out the newbies, and their roles, and getting them on the game floor. Almost impossible to compare them until they're all together on the same floor for practices. Yori can then do some evaluating. (would love to be the fly on the wall then. ) Obviously, they should really help at the point, guards and wings. ...quality depth. Quote
HUD Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 With the ongoing improvement of Romeo, Cincore and Simon I would look for C. Yori to possibly redshirt one or two of the freshmen. that would be a luxury that we haven't had much in the past. That would also help level things out. Of course if we continue with the injury bug that could be a different story. Quote

Cazzie22 Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 To meet the expectations of some, the new kids will have to play and play well. Bugeaters1 and mwm89 2 Quote
whoopdeedoo Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 To meet the expectations of some, the new kids will have to play and play well. well, i think there is a big opportunity for playing time in front of the 2016 recruits. it wouldn't surprise me at all if AT LEAST 2 carry minutes into the conference season. 1 has a great opportunity to start. mwm89 1 Quote
HUD Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 I think that the success of the class of 2016 as noted in previous posts will have as big of an impact as to where our program is going as any class since the 2012 one. I think Coach Yori has potentially one of her best. I think a couple of the new coaches found at least a couple of the recruits. Hopefully they have figured out what we need to be an upper level team in the B10. mwm89 1 Quote

Row6Seat10 Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 Way to go Hannah! By the way in case you're wondering the Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year went to Fremont's Riley Casio-Jensen. She is continuing her basketball career at South Dakota. Quote
mwm89 Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 Can't hurt to have a state POY in your recruiting class. Does anyone know what class size Barneveld is in? Quote
whoopdeedoo Posted March 11, 2016 Author Report Posted March 11, 2016 Barneveld is in Division 5. school enrollment is around 124. Quote
whoopdeedoo Posted March 11, 2016 Author Report Posted March 11, 2016 Whitish wins Gatorade State player of the year for Wisconsin when i watched the Benet Academy (Illinois) game, thought the announcers stated Kathleen Doyle had to be a favorite for Gatorade Player of the Year, but, i see it went to Whitney Youngs Kiara Lewis---------who, i believe is going to OSU. Quote
HUD Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 With the population size of Illinois, just to be in the conversation as a potential as player of the year is quite a compliment. Quote
HUD Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 Just to clarify I was talking about Kathleen Doyle in the previous post. Quote
Row6Seat10 Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 Barneveld is in Division 5. school enrollment is around 124. That would make them like a high Class C-2 or lower Class C-1 school here in Nebraska. Quote
Row6Seat10 Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 Hannah and the Barneveld train rolls on to the Division 5 Wisconsin state championship tomorrow morning against Assumption. Top-ranked and unbeaten Barneveld needed to rally from a nine-point second-half deficit in outlasting No. 5 Clayton 57-46 in a WIAA Division 5 girls’ state basketball semifinal matchup. The Golden Eagles (28-0) are looking to become just the fifth team in Wisconsin girls’ basketball history to capture three straight state titles. They’ll take on Assumption in Saturday’s championship game at 11:05 a.m. University of Nebraska recruit Hannah Whitish paced Barneveld with a game-high 21 points. The 5-foot-9 senior guard also finished with eight rebounds and five assists. http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/sports/high-school/basketball/2016/03/11/wiaa-girls-basketball-barneveld-eyes-title/81642644/ Quote
whoopdeedoo Posted March 12, 2016 Author Report Posted March 12, 2016 just finished watching Assumption defeat Barneveld 62-45 for the title. Barneveld, who's tallest players are 5'9", struggled with the height advantage of Assumption. one of the taller gals from Assumption broke Whitish's two game tournament scoring record ending up with 55 (not sure what she ended up with in today's game). believe they said she is going to Lehigh. Hannah ended up with 24 pts------10-19 shooting. Barneveld had a tough day of shooting (all around). going by announcers, sounded like Barneveld had somewhat of an "off game" shooting the ball. anyway, today, Assumption was definitely the better team. didn't hear how many to's Barneveld ended up with, but, the passing game appeared to really struggle. anyway, will be interesting to see Hannah start a new chapter as a husker!
