Creighton Game

I rewatched some of the Loyola-Creighton game, though probably the ASU one would have been better.

Not letting Hegner get set up/comfortable should be part of the plan. If he gets the ball and a little time he's going to make the right decision between taking it to the hoop or passing it to a guard to rotate around the key for an open 3.

Thomas is efficient but I think at this point you can take him away if you want to. I'm not sure whether or not that's a viable strategy. Also, he hasn't proven he can make a FT...he's the guy to hack if you need to.

Zierden, TOBY, and Huff are the guys you have to keep track of on the 3pt line. Huff is so important because he's the only one who is a viable threat to drive as well. Milliken and TOBY probably get the Huff minutes and some of the shots if he's out. Milliken is a complete wildcard...he could score 20 points or 0.

Let Mo Watson try to beat you scoring. Sag off of him and let him shoot all the 16 foot jumpers he wants. Know there will be points where you can force him into a bad turnover.

Defensively they will sag into the middle all day...almost a quasi 2-3 zone at points.  Take and make 3 pointers. Get Shields into the middle and find him...which will lead into either a drive or a wide open teammate. They're programmed to not foul...be aggressive taking it to the rim, especially when Groselle isn't there as no one else is a big shot block threat.

Overall know that no lead will be safe and that they will go on runs at points in the game. How do we counter punch? How do we stay controlled on offense without being passive? Can we keep the game close and finish at the end?

Sounds like Tai should be trying to get the rim a lot and him being able to will be key offensively.

It's time to man up and finally beat CU.  I'm so sick of losing to them and think we have a good shot at finally shutting up the boys in blue tonight.  I tired of Creighton having the bragging rights in this state.  I hope our players feel the same and come out and play their best game of the year.  We got embarrassed by them last year.  It's time to return the favor.  Enough talking, it's time to just get it done.  I HATE CREIGHTON!!!!  Enough said...

From what I can glean, the Bluejays consider this a "must" game to keep their delusion of making the NCAA field intact. According to Miles it is important, but not crucial, for us. We have to match their intensity, which we obviously did not do last year when we all thought we would win. Hopefully our coaches will be able to amp up the motivation without letting down for the Rhode Island game. I am optimistic for a 1-1 result nevertheless. 2-0 will be gravy and 0-2 might spoil my holiday mood.

To me, the next two games set the tone to tell us if we are a NCAA (2-0), an NIT (1-1), or a no post season team (0-2).

Yep, seems fairly plausible when it comes to expectations; although, the Big Ten schedule will be The Law. This is a preamble. ;)

Doesn't it seem like Creighton's game plan will be to slow down either White or Shields and then just do enough offensively to win. Someone like Tai, Watson, McVeigh, etc stepping up will be a big part of counteracting that strategy.

Good luck on Wednesday folks.  I'm not super confident, but stranger things have happened.

You mean, like, last season, right?

I think you are going to get that one back this year.

You're insane.  Creighton owns us (and Miles) and Mac is our (and Miles') daddy.  Bluejays roll again by at least 15.

You've done plenty to ingratiate yourself over here, no need to pander to us this week.

Not pandering, Jays are very flawed. Shields is going to score a lot of points.

So...I'm sorry if my ranting ran you off Mose, you shouldn't feel unwelcome over here.

But (and I was kind of hoping you would stick around long enough to get to this part of the discussion) you can't honestly say you are anything but 100% confident Creighton will win tonight.  What evidence is there to lead you to believe anything but all the chips are on you guys' side of the table?  I would honestly be surprised if you don't win by at least 15.
