2015 Husker Baseball

Blew another lead last night but at least we hung in there and prevailed.  I hate to lose to Kansas State in anything, so avoiding that was personally quite fulfilling.   Can't believe Tanner went 5-5.  The last huge hit was against a righty.

Find ways to win.  I don't care if we blow every lead the rest of the year as long as we win.  Like HB, it worries me, but the grit and determination... especially after this weekend series... was great!

Also this weekend and last night might have helped the team get resettled, refocused and ready the more baseball. We might have been a bit full of ourselves after the 15-1 run and sweep on Texas.

I spoke too soon. As good as our pitching staff is. Our lineup is equally as bad. Far too many holes up and down the lineup. A few need to get hot. 3-4 in the Big Ten is not where we want to be

A couple of our young in' are seeing that college pitching is a just a bit better than high school.

One thing about baseball is that you WILL go cold sometime throughout a season!  Its a given.  Now its how you respond to going cold that is the most important thing.  Let's hope we break out of our funk soon and get back into stride.  I would rather go into a funk now than later on though.

Yeah, I was there tonight and just got back home in Omaha. The team seemed pretty disinterested by the later innings. Sitting back in the dugout and not much into the game...no chatter or encouragement. The Huskers were meek kittens tonight. The Gophers had some swagger. I hope DE gives them hell tonight and/or tomorrow...They sure need a fire lit under them...

Had a chance to sit near the dugout last night. Erstad is pretty intense and was not happy.  I'd imagine it was due to us playing a pretty sloppy game.  When Krayton tied the game in the 8th due to a miscue from our infielders on who should be covering second Erstad obliterated his clipboard against the dugout wall.  After the inning was over he ran over to the middle infielders coming into the dugout and kindly gave everyone on the team a nice a$$ chewing.  But a win is a win....lets get another tonight.

Darren was lucky enough to be coached by some of the best in the games. I think he does a very good of job patting and chewing butts at the right time and to the right guys. I know I would run though a brick wall for him if I played for him.

I do think the players ears perk up when he speaks.  They most certainly respect him as a coach.  We couldn't say the same about our former baseball coach.

6-6 in the Big Ten. 7th place at the halfway point. Safe to say this team is underachieving in conference play. Dangerously close to being put on the bubble down the stretch. Hard to beat good teams when you can't score runs.

Will be interesting to see how we respond against K-State and at Iowa.   Ersty was as pissed and blunt in the post-game as I have heard him since he's been here. 

 

We really struggle when Boldt is off his game.  Came up in a huge spot in the bottom of the 9th, guy on first, no outs.  Normally we would bunt there, but with a lefty-righty advantage, they didn't take the bat out of  Boldt's hands.  He had a dismal strike out which Ersty said "wasn't a competitive at bat".

Good game tonight.  Beating purple decisively is always good.  Now, winning against Iowa would be back to back prevailing over evil.

30 wins and 13 losses.  Not the worst place we could be right now!  Not the best, but certainly not the worst!  

 

40 wins and 17 losses isn't totally out of the question!  I could certainly see a few more wins, but we also haven't played well in conference so I could see a few more losses as well.
