Norm Peterson Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 For all the negative talk about Bo, I've never heard who ppl think would be a good replacement...does he have things to improve? Absolutely. But he has continually gotten better and will continue to do so. Not many guys have taken over a top 5 all time program as their FIRST head coaching gig and been as successful as no.Not our job. That's why Eichorst gets paid good money. Find someone who can make the NU football program competitive on the national level again. Bo has improved? How so? Last I checked he has lost 4 games every single year. Last I checked his team still commits penalties and turnovers at a high rate. The only thing that may save him this year from losing 4 games is our God awful schedule. We have clearly flat lined under him. OK, well, there you go, Jason. Anyone but Bo. Not my job to figure it out. That's why Eichorst gets the big bucks. Yada. Quote
jason2486 Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 LOL thanks Norm! It's easy to play armchair coach and say what should be done. Quote
huskerbaseball13 Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 LOL thanks Norm! It's easy to play armchair coach and say what should be done. I don't think I said anything specific about "what should be done" in regards to Bo. But if I was playing armchair coach I would start with playing the right players. This has been a common theme under Bo. Shouldn't have taken 4 games to get Roach on the field over Banderas. Also, Zaire Anderson should not leave the field unless we are in dime. Oh and if Pelini and Cotton are the best we can do on the oline then we have seriously failed on the recruiting trail. AND if you want a name...if we found ourselves in the position of firing Bo I would love if Eichorst did everything possible to get Jim Tressel as the next HC at NU. Sure, he had his troubles at Ohio St with the tattoos and what not but hes a proven winner and a guy that knows the Big Ten. And imo, it would not be very difficult to persuade him to come to NU. Of course we run the risk of getting penalized if he cheats but at NU I don't see that being an issue. I thought Bo was the right hire in 08. He got us back on stable ground but I'm afraid what you see now is what you get. Now Jason, since I answered your question I would love to hear how Bo has got "continually" better. Quote
huskerbaseball13 Posted November 16, 2014 Report Posted November 16, 2014 Same ole same ole in Pelini land. Not if you're paying attention. Future is bright. Shatel knocks this one out of the park. Bo doesn't know. The future is as bright as it was six years ago. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/shatel-latest-embarrassment-adds-to-the-suspicion-that-bo-doesn/article_86c707e1-3c04-53c8-86da-e399f2c15df7.html Quote
hhcmatt Posted November 17, 2014 Report Posted November 17, 2014 Shatel knocks this one out of the park. Calling for the heads of Husker coaches is sort of his wheelhouse. Quote
huskerbaseball13 Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 Care to re-visit now HB? Do the anti Bo folks have a point? I was and am paying attention. And stand by what I said earlier in the year. Not sure Bo gets fired...but he's clearly not the man for the job. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 Thought occurred to me this weekend ... I'll save that thought for a moment. But first, I remember when Bo came in and was all brash and cocky and had a bit of a chip on his shoulder. He did some things early on that sort of alienated the media and the fans (long before that open-mic recording of him emerged) and I remember thinking at the time that he had failed to develop good will with the fans. But as long as he was winning and the program was on an upward trajectory, people would probably overlook it. However, if he ever hit the skids, the fans would turn on him quickly, simply because he hadn't developed that good will with the public. So, my thought this weekend. I can tolerate an asshole on the sidelines only as long as he's winning championships, or at least contending for them periodically. But if we're going to be stuck at 9 or 10 wins against 4 losses every year, I'd rather have the Doc Sadler of football coaches roaming the sidelines. At least he seemed to appreciate the fans and the opportunity to coach here, not to mention being a good guy you wanted to pull for. Even for a guy like me, though, Bo's act has worn thin. hhcmatt and atskooc 2 Quote

Huskerpapa Posted November 28, 2014 Author Report Posted November 28, 2014 Nice job men! I imagine a good number of "fans" gave up on this game...but you believed in yourselves...way to come back and win a game! Great job. HB and Silverbacked1 2 Quote
huskerbaseball13 Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 Pelini fired. Best of luck to Bo and my guess is he is a bit relieved as I'm sure the writing was on the wall for him. Going out to buy a sweater vest today to bring some good luck to the coaching search. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 If we bring in Tressel I will no longer be a Husker football fan. That means we have sold our souls to the devil just to win. Actually I haven 't really cared as much since the Firing of Frank Fiasco. HB 1 Quote

Norm Peterson Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 I made my views known on this subject before he was let go (I supported it, go check a few posts up). But my hope -- and, sadly, I suspect I'll be disappointed in this hope -- is that the Bo haters will handle this with a little class and not dance on his casket like they all did with Doc Sadler. You got what you wanted; you don't have to be assholes about it. hhcmatt 1 Quote

Huskerpapa Posted November 30, 2014 Author Report Posted November 30, 2014 This has a significant impact on a lot of people. Sounds like the staff will be taken care of. I trust Bo will be snapped up pretty quickly unless he wishes to take a year or two off and tour like Frank did. Our loss will be someones gain. Quote
49r Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 Kansas fans are tearing themselves up about it, actually. They have hated and mocked Bo for years, but now that they're looking for a coach, and Bo's available, it's a huge conflict for them. A lot of KU fans really want him...He's a consistent 9 game winner and they would do anything for that kind of consistency...they could do worse. And that kills them. AuroranHusker 1 Quote
