The Huskers have offered 5'9 guard Irene "Gracie" Colaivalu (2016) from Rosemont High School in Sacramento, CA. Sounds as if she's a late bloomer but created a lot of interest on the AAU circuit this summer.

Irene “Gracie” Colaivalu (Rosemont, Sacramento) G, 5-9, 2016
We’re going to give you her full name just once, and henceforth she will be known as “Gracie” like the folks in Sacramento call her – and if this untapped budding star continues to develop her game, she very well may be gracing a lot of things in her basketball future. She led her 13-15 high school team in scoring, assists and steals last year at 14.0, 5.8 and 4.9 respective per game averages (7.9 rpg as well), this is her first year on the summer circuit, and she was impressive. Her footwork can use honing but her shot has great rotation and she plays all out and energetic.

Sounds as if Gigi Garcia is in the process of trimming her list to also. Arizona St. Utah, UCLA and Nebraska! I like where the Huskers are sitting with her. Incidentally, both Arizona St and UCLA are trying to get on her good side while the Huskers are down under.

The Huskers have extended another offer to a NoCal kid. Kiana Moore a 5'7 guard out of Vanden High School in Fairfield CA who averaged 13.2 points per game, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals was the recipient. Arizona, Arizona St and San Francisco are also on her list. Hoopgurlz rates her as a 3 star prospect.

She's the kid in black below.

Disappointing news out of the Sacramento area, Gigi Garcia a Husker big target for the 2016 recruiting class tore up her knee this summer and most likely have to miss her senior season. She still has high hopes to land a scholarship.

Gigi, The Bee’s 2015 Player of the Year, tore two ligaments, including the ACL, in her right knee during a summer league game. The injury likely means the nationally recruited 6-foot-2 power forward will miss her senior season, a tough loss for a team expecting to challenge for another title.

it appears her father (who is a coach) is going to do all he can to help his daughter recover from this terrible injury. i guess at least part of the answer lies in just how much interest she showed in nebraska. difficult question---but, i am guessing coach won't bail on her, but, definitely something to monitor during recovery. bad enough to have acl injury, then to have another ligament torn---tough break for the gal. wish her nothing but the best.

Sounds as if this past weekend was a big recruiting weekend for the Big Red. Besides getting a verbal out of Nicea Eliyla I've been able to find out that Abi Schied a 6'2 post out of Ramsey MN. and Aahliyah Jackson a 6' guard from Fort Smith, Arkansas were two others that visited this past labor day weekend. Sounds like another one that's a mystery yet but we're still looking. Hopefully in just a few short Burno's we'll have a name to go along with the mystery girl!!

Sounds like getting to meet D Wade and his wife was quite a highlight for these recruits! With Coach Brittany being able to pull the Jackson kid up here out of the south is a very good sign of what's to come with her being on staff! That would be a huge get should we get a verbal out of her! Time will tell.

Here is the Aahliyah Jackson photo.

Question:

Will Connie be leaning toward another big, or maybe a shooting forward, since now we've got 3 guard commits for 2016? (Eliyla might  be considered a forward) ......that's assuming Yori will take 4 - 2016 commits.

The Arkansas guard Jackson is good one for sure.

Well it was good while it lasted: Aahliyah Jackson narrowed her list down to 3 schools today. Mississippi St, Texas A&M & Washington.

Now that she has had the chance to learn more about Mississippi State, it appears they have moved to the top of her recruiting list.

"They are definitely a top 1, top 2 school that I am looking at in making my decision," said Jackson, who has officially visited MSU, Washington, Georgia Tech and Nebraska and has a visit planned with Texas A&M the first weekend of October. "I have cut my list of schools down to Mississippi State, Texas A&M and Washington."

For what ever it's worth......and this stuff seems to change weekly, but here's some of the latest.

Prospect Nation's 2016 list has Kathleen Doyle as 108, and Micole Cayton as 113 in their new Top 150 rankings. And they're both in the Top 20 of PGs listed, and both 4 stars.

Gigi Garcia is #89 and no commit shown

Most of PNs Top 150 were shown as having made commitments....maybe 75-80% ?

I saw another site that showed all of our current NU commits as 4**** s.  Sure looks like a good class coming in next year.

As is always said...we'll see how it all turns out.....in a couple of years.

Taylor Kissinger is shown as #56 on the 2017 list

Kathleen Doyle is a game changer and has actually moved up to #25 in the Blue Star Rankings.  Last I heard she was #68 with All-Star Girls Report.

The drop in the Prospects Nations Rankings has more to do with the fact that they do not scout the circuit that Doyle primarily plays on.

Doyle plays for a Blue Star Travel team and a players ranking has a lot to do with who and when they are seen.....

Yea, it's way far out in the future, and jumping the gun so to speak...but...

Anyone know if  2017 6-2 forward Lauryn Miller of Kirkwood, Mo. is on NU's radar?    She earned a spot on the Under 16 USA Basketball team, before she had a knee injury. Top 50 recruit probably

Have a friend in KC that says she a super capabile young prospect from the St Louis area.
