I tried telling y'all we've got a chance at making the tournament. Finish middle of the pack in the big and win 2 games in the big tourney and who knows

Maybe you should make this statement after we have won a few games. I mean if we lose tonight we suck. 1-5 in the B1G with a game against a very good Minnesota team on the horizon.

It is less about finishing mid pack and more about picking up some solid wins, avoiding bad losses (like PSU) and getting a respectable RPI. To do that we would probably have to finished 5th-7th in the conference.

The reach the middle of the pack from a 1-4 start is so freaking long and tough that it is mind boggling how dismissively people talk about it.

I don't think anyone is saying it will be easy to reach the middle of the pack just that it's possible and the opportunity is there. The Big Ten is a cluster already just a few games in. Eight teams have 3/4 losses. Win our share of games and we will be battling for decent B1G tourney seeding down the stretch. But also like you said, lose tonight and we suck. Win tonight and we remain in that cluster. Win some more and we start to climb toward the upper half of the cluster.

We have 8 games remaining against teams in that cluster with 3/4 losses. Plus 2 against Penn State who is not currently in the cluster. Then we have out-of-cluster games against Michigan, Michigan State, and Wisconsin. Need to win to stay in the cluster! Conference is wide open.

No reason to talk about it as we aren't even a discussion for it at this point. Come Sunday night if we are 11-8 lets start a thread

Still don't understand why we have to wait to talk about it. The team has been talking about it all season, it is one of their goals. Now, they probably aren't discussing it on a daily basis, one game at a time, focus, etc etc etc. But it gets talked about by the team. Fans certainly don't have to wait.

Yes, it's illogical to discuss the NCAA tourney as a legitimate possibility right now. But to not speak of it as a possibility at all, to be mute on the subject, I will still argue is absurd. The NCAAs need to be talked about all the time.

It's not that it can't be discussed. It's that every time this team gets a "big" win, everyone gets so excited only to be let down when things come crashing back down to earth. For me, it's just a bit of a "here we go again" thing. If they go on a streak, that might change, but that's the issue for me.

Okay I buy that. So it's going to take going on a streak to finally put to bed the historical events of what usually happens to us in this situation.

I guess for me, there's an on-court proof this year that the potential is there and progress is being made. In the past it was always this false hope that a huge win would suddenly make our inadequate team magically win more games. This time it's real. At least right now, for me. I guess I will believe that until it's proven that it was false hope yet again and a road loss to Penn State tonight doesn't totally prove that for me. Unless we completely lay an egg. I see progress and I don't see why we can't discuss the possibility of NCAAs and long as that is still a possibility for the season.
