hhcmatt Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Lost a first close game to Idaho tonight. Last year they committed the least fouls in the NCAA. Tonight 2 guys fouled out. Freshman Garret Covington, who had some B1G offers, put up 22 points and looks to be the early focal point of a team that lost 66+% of their scoring from last year. (He also did the same thing in their exhibition game. Quote
tcp Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Thanks for the update. My understanding is that this is a team we shouldn't take lightly (really, we shouldn't take any team lightly, but you know what I'm saying). You doing a write up before the game? Quote
nustudent Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 IMO, we likely won't win as easy as we did against FGCU. WIU won't be in the first game with a new coach and we won't have the emotions of opening night. We'll win...likely handily...but I see us struggling just a little more Quote

Yup, doing a little research tonight. They were a NIT team last year, losing to Purdue. However, they lost a lot of players. They'll be a good test because they'll probably be annoying defensively but not good enough to beat us if they're too annoying Quote

Chuck Taylor Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 This is not an easy game. I've watched them play the last couple of years and they squeeze the air out of the ball, which could frustrate a young team like ours. I think we'll win, but there will be much teeth-gnashing afterward about why we played so sluggishly. Quote
hhcmatt Posted November 10, 2013 Author Report Posted November 10, 2013 The game is on the BTN Digital Network. I assume this means that you have to fork over money for a BTN Digital subscription...which is a fancy way of saying "pay per view" Quote

AuroranHusker Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Western Illinois won the Summit league last year... saw the Leathernecks take on the Omaha Mavs at Ralston Arena this past winter, and they appeared to be very well coached by Jim Molinari & staff. WIU was the co-regular season champion of the Summit with a 13-3 mark and 22-9 overall. If the name Jim Molinari looks familiar, it's because he previously had been the head coach of Bradley Univ. for 11 seasons (incl. '96 NCAA tourney appearance). Molinari had been an assistant for the Meyer family at DePaul throughout their glory years of the 80's where he helped recruits the likes of Mark Aguirre, Dallas Comegys, Tyrone Corbin, Terry Cummings and Rod Strickland. Molinari's kid has been hurt so much he makes Neimann look like Cal Ripken Quote
