Well, if there is a way for a sub .500 season to end positively, it was the Big 10 tournament.  These guys fought like crazy, and left it all out there.  Almost everyone played their best when it mattered the most.  Those are cliches, but true in this instance.  Pitchers who had just walked everyone or got lit up in recent weeks pitched admirably.

Despite a lot of adversity, much of it out of the gate, Ersty never lost his team.  These guys weren't the most talented, especially the arms, but they never gave up.  Fighters.

We still have a ways to go, but I see slow progress.  We went 3 years in a row without even making the conference tournament.  We now have 2 upper division finishes and a tournament runner-up in 2 years under Erstad--granted, in an easier league.

We will now see how the recruiting has been going, since we lose heavily off of this team.  The seniors bridged the gap to inch us back to respectability, now we'll move forward or not with Ersty's recruits.

Is it just me, or does it seem like Christensen, Kalkowski, and Peters played here for 10 years?  Wish they could have gotten that Regional berth at the end.

If DeLeon & Kubat can have outings like they did in Minneapolis all through next year that's a great 1-2 punch. Plus if they can shore up the middle relief and the Huskers play with the intensity that they displayed in the B1G tourney, we should be fairly good next season despite losing some good bats. Erstad re-affirmed my belief in him with the way he managed the team at the B1G tournament. HB, do you think had we scheduled a little easier non conference schedule we could have made the NCAA's?

Good for softball. I think I've watched more softball these last few days than I have the last 3 years!

Row 6, I wasn't a huge fan of the scheduling at the time, but I have warmed up to it.  We were likely a couple of games short of having it get us to the regionals, and I have a hunch there will be some carryover in terms of attitude within the program.  I would hope having the stones to schedule like that, and the opportunities for the players to compete at the highest levels, will help in recruiting.  I'm not an expert on baseball RPI, but I have to think if we scheduled much easier we would have had to win a lot more to make the tournament.  From everything I've read, the tough schedule actually increased our chances--if we just could have won a couple more to finsh above 500.  The Southern Cal game the first weekend still haunts me.

Nebraska only losing 1 player from their recruited class to the draft is HUGE for Husker baseball.  In Boldt we will have a top 20 talent on the field next year.  His injury hurt him...but his asking price of over 2 million was too much for teams to take a risk on.  Knutson and Burkamper are also two kids that could have went in the 3-5 round of the MLB draft but teams didnt want to pay off.  Big off-season for Husker baseball.  Find a few bats to replace the seniors from last year and shore up middle relief....with the starting rotation returning NU could be dangerous next year.

Yes, if Kelly, Darby, Headley and the like from the returnees have good yeares, and the newcomers have early success, it could be pretty good.

Has anyone heard how ticket sales are going for the BIG 10 Baseball Tournament in Omaha is going. I was wondering if I need to buy tickets before hand or just walk and get them.

You can actually view how many seats are remaining at the TicketMaster link. Overall, it seems like a fair number of 5-day passes have been sold. There are very few remaining in the sections directly behind home plate, but there are plenty available on the sides both between home plate and first base, and between home plate and third base.

I am hoping that we have a very strong showing in the crowd (not just for Nebraska's games) in hopes of future conference tournaments being held in Omaha.

I did see that Husker, That is why I was asking. My group was just going to walk up and buy tickets but looking at what ticket master is showing maybe we need to pony up on tickets now. Hopefully the BIG 10 will put it at TD permanently.
