They're in Minnesota now. Illikainen is a class of 2015 high school PF for Grand Rapids HS (Minnesota). Reid Travis is a 2014 SF. Johnson is a 2015 PG. Both play for De La Salle HS in Minneapolis, Minn.

I agree. The CBI would have been fun, but they're laying the groundwork for the future. If they were just sitting on a beach somewhere sipping Mai Tais, I'd be more in favor of going to the CBI, but they're obviously using this time productively for recruiting. Good move IMO.

Hopefully Johnson can use his Minnesota ties to land at least one of these guys.  We should all be hoping for Minny to make a small run in the tournament this year to give Tubby some more job security.  I think they've pretty much reached their ceiling with him and it is better than the potential alternative (Shaka)

Minnesota's kind of in the position we feared being in with Doc last year.  Recruits may be reluctant to commit to Tubby because they don't really know how long he'll be around.  That kind of perception almost seals a coach's fate.  Sure did with Danny Nee.

Hopefully we can land one of these talented Minnesota kids. It'd be nice to have a legit pipeline in a talent-rich area like the Twin-Cities.

Alex Illikainen is only a sophomore and is a stud. We have been on him since this staff arrived.  He would be a tremendous coup if we could land him.  If you have not followed him, his team is average at best without him, and they spent the last three weeks without him due to a broken hand.  He has now returned to the line up.
