I'd be interested in seeing what he does for Sirius during the Final Four. That's pretty darn cool! Quote
tcp Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 Second that. Brandon is the kind of player that makes you step away from the cynical ledge in college sports. Just when everything seems a calculation over revenue, you get a guy like this who epitomizes the sheer fun of playing for your school, and if you're lucky, you remember why not everything is about winning and losing. Huskerpapa Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 I have always liked our ginger man. I put him in the category of Wes or Mikki or a few others...I wish he (they) would have spent a year as a redshirt. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 I also got a kick out of the following: Former coach Doc Sadler, in a phone interview this weekend, described Ubel as an “unbelievable role model” who’s the perfect person to help build a program. “In three years, I never remember Brandon Ubel ever having a bad day,” said Sadler, who recruited Ubel. “That in itself is unique. You get in at 2 in the morning, if he had an 8 o’clock class, I never knew him to miss it. I remember Toney McCray always saying, ‘Gosh, does Brandon ever mess up?’ We can’t all be like Brandon, and that’s the kind of guys you’d like to have in your program Doc is still riding Toney's butt Quote
Red Rum Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 Let's not forget the guy's been playing with a fractured elbow for a while now. He gives everything he has for the team. Even if he has off nights, he still plays his guts out. Quote
colhusker Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 I wish Brandon after busting his backside for 4 years, taking a lot of unfair criticism over that time, could have another year to see some of the good I think is just around the corner. What a great kid. Quote
kldm64 Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 After listening to him calling the trainers vs. managers game, I think he has a pretty bright future in broadcasting. He was impressive on the call of that game. Quote

I've never felt worse for two people: Sek Henry and Toney McCray. Those guys just got destroyed on a daily basis by Doc. Sek - grew, turned into a leader by the end of his career... Toney........ yeah not so much, but he definitely improved as a person. Quote
