I miss Norm. I followed him on twitter and asked him to come back. I really mean this, but it’s not the same without him. He was a big part of the heart and soul of this board. And I don’t read as much here anymore because he and Cip aren’t around.

Come back, Norm and Cip! 😁

Cip is around a bit. Posted a Klaus Nomi video the other day.

I don't post off-topic posts on this message board.  Others do and I tend to not get bent out of shape about it but for me this is talking about Nebraska basketball and sometimes the tangent subjects like other levels of basketball or anything going on about the university.  This isn't one of those boards where I have an off-topic section so that 5 people can bitch at each other in some section.  I do not apologize for that for one second.

I guess to whatever cabal you visit with about such things, I have to say that this board has been less dramatic since the off-season.  This thing where I run the board, free and as a hobby, and I'm put into some position where I'm supposed to feel bad about it or some nonsense is horse shit.  I appreciate the guys that currently post here that don't make the time and effort I spend feel like I'm some sort of lesser person for doing so.  End rant.

Why was this pointed at my simple and generic response.  I will repeat, there were reasons why individuals stop posting.  I personally ignore most posts I do not like.  I sometimes respond if I am in an uglier mood.  To each, his own.

I guess I read too much into how you worded that.

If it is so obvious Why don't the coaches see it like you do ?

Wanted to follow up on this because I think it's a fair question.

I'm just a fan. I only watch games. I form all my opinions based on what I see in games in person and on TV. That's it. Coaches watch these guys practice every day for hours for the last handful of months. I understand they have way more data and information, which leads to them generally making smarter, better decisions distributing playing time/deciding on rotations.

But coaches also have a lot of other factors to consider. For example, if you believe in a young guy but it isn't working out right now, will he transfer if you tick him off? Would cutting down the rotation right now cause some cancer in the locker room? Not everyone is a Boogie Coleman who loses playing time but keeps a positive attitude. Are certain players absolute work horses in practice and earning their playing time, even though it isn't necessarily working out in games on the court? Have the coaches spent the last few months preparing this team to play a certain way and are very hesitant to just bail on that because we've been sloppy and very inconsistent so far through 4 games? Small sample size still, but it's getting larger.

So I have no emotions attached to my opinions and I understand why coaches see it differently than I do. And maybe I'm wrong and we'd be worse off if we changed the way we play. Or maybe we'd be better. In November/December last year, Boogie Coleman averaged 14 minutes a game and then played a total of 6 minutes the rest of the season.

Just based off what I'm seeing, I'd like to see us try something different. In the 3 games with the Worster/Williams/Gary/Berke/Meah starting lineup, the scores at the first media timeout have been 8-6, 7-11, 4-12. In the one game Meah didn't play, we were up 11-7.

time to cut down on some guys minutes, our shooters (essegian and GG) need way more minutes and shots in general to actually get going - which is true for the whole team, we need our top 8 guys to really take up most of the minutes just to get some sort of "gel" going. uhlis/hoiberg (as much as i love those guys) need less minutes and meah needs to completely be situational. seems clear by watching the first 4 games but as ghost of joe says maybe the coaches are seeing someting we arent out of those guys. also very rarely have i been upset with fred about anything but what in the hell are we doing not having connor and GG out there for the final shot? really boneheaded and gave me husker football vibes. enough of the doom and gloom, i have faith fred figures it out and hey maybe we go 10 deep the whole year through the gauntlet of the big ten and it works out in our favor with keeping guys fresh who knows #GBR

Every road game on our schedule is a Q1 right now except Washington, which is borderline Q1.

I missed this yesterday. I should have reworded my post.

Q1 games (with a home crowd like environment) are few and far between. Opportunities like yesterday as few and far between. We also know how our road games last year went.

You're right-- we have a lot of opportunity left for Q1 wins, but many of them are away from home and in much less friendlier environments.

This loss stinks because I felt we saw a fight in this team we haven't seen before.  They showed and played right there with a very high-quality team.  Ulis and Meah's minutes have to get cut down some I think.  Ulis is a good defender but Sam does everything he can do if not better.  Need Gavin and Essegian to step up if we want to be where this team needs to be.

You’re right. And if we’re in a position to have a resume picked apart, we just missed one of our two non-con chances for a quality win. The rest will be lumped into Big Ten play.
