Yeah, I think long, quick, disruptive teams on defense are the kryptonite for this team….tonight, Ohio State, Rutgers

We potentially match up better against teams like Iowa and maybe Oregon State, even if they’re higher ranked than A&M

I totally agree with you

Even Purdue took a page out of Rutgers play book when we played them in the tournament

Our girls don't do well in the rough and tough games

Is there any way fans can ask announcers to please please please .... TELL US WHO THE FOUL IS ON!    A few times late in the game they did, but several times it was "looks like that one is going to go against Nebraska".  Yeah, thanks, we could that from the direction all players are going .... but it's on WHO?

The refs were doing a terrible job of communicating who fouls were on.  Even had to stop the game and rewatch video to get official scorebook up to date at one time.  Probably delayed the game 5+ minutes? I was glad the correction was a 3rd foul on number 2.  She was tough.

Really?

I thought the A&M coach was awful.  They had an athletic and physical team; but schematicaly did nothing to leverage them.  The ex-A&M player turned announcer kept referencing their injuries without referencing our injury.  Amy never panicked and despite an underwhelming 4th quarter, pulled out the win.  This Nebraska coach, who many bash, now has a team, that leverages the entire roster, in the top 32 in the entire country.   A team that is now in the top 10% in the country.  A team that had, arguably, it's best player in foul trouble within the first 3 minutes, yet prevailed.

I'm really, really unsure what people want or see when the see this Husker team compete.  But for me, I see a few exceptional players typically perform at a high level, and I see role players who work hard plugging gaps and oftentimes excel when asked.
This a million times.

I can't give this post enough Up-Votes @Huskerpapa

Here is a brief response to some of the negative comments above:

"I'm not so sure.

We Played pretty well in the Big Ten Tournament against PURDUE, MICHIGAN STATE and MARYLAND; FORCING IOWA to take US to Overtime for the Championship. :Hair Fire:

I wonder if the 12-day lay-off between Games may have something to do with our play.

Anyway, :Gobigred:"

I just started following the husker women closely this year(having 2 daughters will do that to a guy I guess) and I’ve been pretty confused by the fans that don’t like her as a coach.

we won last night based on us having an offensive scheme and them just playing 1 on 1 basketball IMO which to me is the definition of coaching.  I’d say the only athlete we had on par with them speed/agility wise is white and she’s 5’6” yet we still found a way to win by finding and hitting open threes.

she’s also recruiting at what I would say is a high level the last 2-3 years with those results showing this year

Fair enough. You all are probably right that we were executing more of a game plan on offense, whereas A&M were mostly just creating one-on-one. Saying “out coached” was harsh and/or wrong.

My frustration with yesterday was mostly caused by:

1. Watching us have to hang on for dear life against the 8th best team in the SEC who was missing their 2nd or 3rd best player.

2. Not leaving the starters on the court when we were ahead by 17 in the third quarter. Why not run them off the court instead of letting them hang around and gain confidence?

3. Watching Jaz and Natalie both have terrible games after playing so well for the last month. (I know that’s not necessarily Amy’s fault and the opponent’s athleticism had a lot to do with it).

In general, I’m very supportive of and believe in what AW is doing. I guess it was just disappointing to see that even a marginal, shorthanded SEC team still had enough athleticism to almost completely cancel out our team’s skill advantage. Imagine if we would have been playing Tennessee or Ole Miss last night, let alone LSU or South Carolina. That’s not a criticism of AW, but it just solidified how much more program-building needs to be done to close that gap or make up for that mismatch in styles.

I would agree with a lot of this, and I definitely don’t feel as negative about Amy Williams as a lot of people on here do, but you actually touched upon one of my biggest pet peeves with this program in your comment. We have two players on our team that have the speed, agility and athleticism to compete with the athletes we see consistently on other teams, and I feel like our coaches and this system have basically handcuffed those players to try and force them to play within a system that is very methodical. Darian White has the ability to break down any guard we have seen this season, and there are very few that can stay in front of her when she attacks, but our offense forces her to play a type of basketball that absolutely does not utilize her skills. Kendall Moriarity is fast, moves laterally much better than most players her size, can jump and can get to the hole, but again, this pass the ball around so Jazz can come off double screens and jack up a three offense is the priority. Obviously, we want to get the ball into Markowski, but she is doubled quite often, so we just work around the perimeter until somebody shoots a three. Early in the season, whenever White or Moriarty would shake things up a little bit, attack and Kiikk, or attack and shoot, they would come out of the game. To me, that says the message is stay within the confines of our offense if you want to stay on the floor.  When jazz or Logan or Hake are hot, this works for us, but there have been several games where it didn’t work for us and we seemed to have no answer. It drives me crazy. She is obviously a good coach, and I don’t propose to know more than she does, but in all my years playing, coaching and watching basketball, I’ve never quite seen a high-level coach make these types of substitutions, especially in close. For example, neither Moriarty or White or in the game at the end Last night, and they are our two best defenders. White is the best ball handler, and she is really the only player who can break down her defender and get past them. Now that she seems to be healthy and strong again, I would think we would want the ball in her hands to drive and kick or lay it up. I see comments about “why weren’t the starters in Moore“, but Shelly and Natalie were struggling offensively last night, and sometimes you have to adjust. It just doesn’t seem like Amy Williams adjusts. She has it in her head what she wants to do, and often times she does not make necessary changes in my opinion.
