With the addition of Allick and the hopeful anticipation of Tominaga's return, does this mean that portal mining for next year is over unless some last-minute Keontae Johnson suddenly appears? If so, when do teams which take trips to places like Spain this summer get to start formal practices? It would seem that this would be very beneficial for this group to help establish roles and rotations before the real season starts.

I am good with holding one scholarship open.  We seemingly have good depth, and since one or two of our walk-ons will also compete for floor time, competitive practices will exist.

If the right player comes a knocking, we will have the ability to bring him in.

As a side bar, before I place my rose colored glasses back on, I need to see our complete schedule, I need to see us play as a team, and I need to see our league in action.  We have a tendency to win the off-season year after year in many of our sports.  We wish, we hope, we get excited and then the season starts and we poop all over ourselves.

Let's buy tickets, provide loud support and see how the season plays out.

This is a GREAT year for us to be able to take a foreign trip.

You get a bunch of extra practices (and some games) which will be really helpful when you consider we lost 2 really important pieces from our starting lineup and need a little bit of game reps to figure out how the pieces are going to fit together.

And there will be some GREAT head-to-head competitions within the roster.

Allick vs. Gary. Gary is muscle and defensive motor; Allick is a bit more finesse and polish.

Mast vs. Breidenbach/Keita/Allick. Let's see Mast face all comers. It's like Porsche vs. Ferrari. Mast is precision German engineering; the other guys might be a bit more agile and quick but more likely to blow a gasket.

Ulis vs. Lloyd. They both want the PG job. Age against beauty. Experience against talent. Who distributes better? Who follows the script better? Does the ball stop in either of their hands too much? Who plays better defense?

Wilcher vs. Williams vs. Lawrence vs. Tominaga. Four guys fighting for two spots. Keisei's job seems pretty secure. But can CJ find an extra gear and fight for a spot in the rotation? He'll have to dig deep or he'll be odd man out.

Instead of being forced out of necessity to Start Lylod, Blaise or C.J. it now appears we have some more talented options. Nice work Fred, can’t wait to see how this all shakes out & the pieces come together!

I mean how long has it been since our roster has had competition at nearly every position heading into the season? Iron sharpens iron right?!? I. Am. Stoked! From the depths of despair to start last season to the high I am on with how this off-season has played out is crazy.

Spain trip is July 28-August 7th. Hopefully Allick should be healed by then.

Hoiberg quote, “As coaches, it gives us 10 additional practices during the summer to begin implementing our system as well as an opportunity to play three games where we can learn more about our team and use different lineups."

I’m stoked!
