Not dumb. It will be a good rule. Spring training results don't matter. Players will quickly learn and adapt now, and it won't be a problem in the regular season (or if someone does get called for it in the regular season, they'll have no excuse). Baseball is dying - gotta adapt.

Sorry— any rule that ends a game like this is dumb.  Sure it’ll speed up the game a little bit, but this wasn’t just spring training.  This was an actual game that mattered.  Dumb rule that needs to be adapted.

Will probably end up like the flop rule though.  Heavily enforced in the beginning and then they’ll back off.

I don't think they'll back off - there's supposed to be a visible clock at every park, so everyone can see when the violation happens. That means it's not a judgment call, so umps will have to enforce it all the way through the season, or they'll get an earful from the other dugout.

As players get used to it, violations will be far less, though, I'd imagine.

I understand this was a college.  More important to MLB's popularity is doing away with blackouts.  I'm a Yankee fan in Iowa, so when I had MLB.tv or MLB network,  I was able to get most games.  I have seen on Social Media all the people who complain about not seeing their favorite team on TV even though they are 4 hours away.

Really have to figure it out before any other rule change.  They risk losing the diehards which in turn causes them to lose the younger generation of those die hards.

And Bally Sports is in the process of filing for bankruptcy. That doesn't mean the product goes away, but the quality and offerings of these regional distributors aren't delivering to their most loyal base.

The thing that pisses me off about the blackouts, is that if KC goes to San Diego. The team that my wife and watch, we can't watch those games, because KC is in our blackout region. That is just a dumb FU&*^#) rule.
