It kind of came down to the fact that Iowa just had better shooters. They were at 44% ...we at 33%.....we just don't win when we're near 30% Their defense seemed better than previously. The foul calling was puzzling sometimes in our game. Minn - terps game had lots of fouls not called...rough game Be real surprised if we're not in NCAAs

Ohio State There's been some talk here about parents of recruits getting jobs as assitant coaches. Noticed that Ohio States all world Kelsey Mitchell.....her dad just happened to get an asistants job at Ohio State (There's also another freshman Mitchell girl Chelsea, that also is on the team, but is injured...ACL) From OSU web site: After a decorated high school coaching career, Mark Mitchell will begin his first season as an assistant coach at the collegiate ranks for the Buckeyes and Coach McGuff in 2013-14.

MSU is giving Maryland a pretty good game...but unless the sky falls it's the terps game to lose.

I still say Havers has a lot of upside to her. she just causes a lot distress in the middle. Havers is just a sophmore.....she's one that could have benefited from a redshirt to get stronger, and learn the system. You can see she knows the system now, and can score. She looks like she's gaining the good weight slowly but surely. By the time she's a senior, she'll probably be a force inside. One thing about her...she not shy ..and will get after it with the other bigs....and the 6-5 is intimidating to other teams Washington will benefit from the redshirt....we just diidn't have the luxury of it for Havers...she was put in the battle right away.

Our having played a game yesterday, and Iowa didn't play at all, isn't in our favor. Will we have anough gas in the tank to play another tough game the next day? But we were able to give the starters some rest yesterday. If we can keep up the shooting percentage, even near 40-45% that may well keep us in the game. Can't go back to the 30% deal. We're hot right now at the right time.....can we continue? I imagine Iowa is aware of what Romeo did last night, and will try to guard her tight....we may need to pick up scoring from the other girls. We've played them twice, so the game plan should be in place. It'l be a tough one...
-
Yea..the game could have ended with all the subs from both teams getting some playing time....Blunt blount chose to leave what was left of his starters in, and press, so Conne did the only appropriate thing. The game ends with NU by about 20 anyway... ....shooting about 61% B1G tourney record

As they say...this games not over...... It will be Illinois verson of helter skelter....thug ball is right. And they can score quickly. Yep, we can't let up on the gas pedal. We actually worked pretty hard in the first half....please don't run out of gas The fouls may help us before it's all said and done

Minnesota’s Amanda Zahui B. was named Big Ten Player of the Year by the media, while Ohio State’s Kelsey Mitchell earned the honor from the conference coaches. Rutgers’ Syessence Davis collected Defensive Player of the Year recognition and Michigan’s Katelynn Flaherty was tabbed Sixth Player of the Year. The Buckeyes’ Mitchell was honored as the unanimous Big Ten Freshman of the Year by the coaches and media, while Maryland head coach Brenda Frese was voted Coach of the Year by both the media and her peers. Maryland’s Brenda Frese was tabbed Big Ten Coach of the Year. Ill's White All freshman team The Big Ten also recognized 14 Sportsmanship Award honorees. That list totals 12 players ......with 4 of them new rookies with no collegiate playing time , albiet one is Shepard..(healthy or not). And that assumes no one leaves the program. It will take roughly 7or 8 ..or 9 ....to get a good rotation, and allow for some injury time, etc. I thought going into next year we could have too many...but not so as it has turned out. The stsarting 5 or 6 are fairly easy to see.....but beyound that will depend on the new freshmen. Not a horrible situation going into next year. There may well be room for another to join the team....possibly Jr College, transfers, or?. .....yes, I know ...Jr college. If everyone is healthy from the get go, and stays that way, then we have a pretty good chance of being a decent team, but we're going to be young. It will depend on how the freshmen get up to speed too. Hoping for a surprise newbie....(not including Shep.) The inside bigs will be a whole new group....got some good prospects, but inexperienced except Havers. The guards/wings will have to improve for the most part....but there's talent there. One key point is that everyone needs to improve...Rachel T maybe not so much, but we can't be so reliant on her to keep us in games....I guess we learned that lesson this year. Obviously we'll be a much different team than the last few years....but it looks like we can be pretty good. Lots of time and practices to go till then. The rest of the B1G will be tough....most teams will be better probably.
-
I'll wait until next season, and several games.... before I will decide which of the three is possibly the better player. According to what all is being said...they all need to improve their game in some areas. ....they're freshman....good freshmen...but guy's...they're freshmen. I'd imagine they will keep changing and improving their skills, as they move forward each year. One thing I certainly hope they all stay at NU....and aren't run off by negative comments..... from any source.

I believe that's what it's coming down to. I'm in favor of giving Shimmy the reigns to recruiting and go get a couple of tall, fast, athletic big girls to combat the way the league will be changing for the future. I think not only is the B1G is changing, (it already has really) but womens Bball is changing to the same types as mens.....big, tall players that can run, and ....score. It won't be long where women players under 6' ...will be rare. If I were a college bball coach, I'd do the same thing the OSU coach said....recruit only scorers. Then teach them to play defense.
-
Lately....OSU had been running most other teams into the ground with their athletism and quickness....speed, and can shoot to go with it.. We and most other B1G teams have the same problem .....can't keep up.
-
If it were not for the addition Shepard coming in next year (assuming she recovers)..it might well be a tough year.... and obviously because of the graduations this year. We'll be much different team...esentially Havers and Theriot with a lot of experience....then hope all this years freshman can improve a lot. ... but most will have good experience from this year. Will need more consistent scoring from next years sophmores. Looks like a pretty decent group for next year though. One of the keys may be our inside rebounding group. The two other newbies next year will need to get up to speed ASAP. But as seen this year...the transition to B1G is a big jump over HS. Not as fast or quick next year probably either. Three shooting ??? But it's still very possible we'll have a winning record. ....we have an experienced staff to put it all together.

Do you define White as a miss because she didn't chose Nebraska? They did recruit her, how hard I have no idea. Maybe she just wanted to go out of state. Yes. I wasn't trying to cast aspersions, place blame, or revisit the reasons. Just pointing out the fact of a huge miss on an in-state player. At a position where we have a dramatic shortage of size and depth. Can't help thinking about how good we could have been with 3 years of White and Shepard together. Correct HB.... Sure, we would have been better with both of them......We...possibly... could have been better the next couple of years, if the Page girls had stayed too. As I recall Yori has said a couple of times, they recruited White....White just choose to go somewhere else. Who knows, the fact that Shepard was already commited...may have....made White think about looking else where...they are somewhat playing the same position...it's happened before when there's a lot of competition at the same position...in all sports Sometimes there are choices made that we can't control.....all you can do is learn from what happens, and move forward with what we have. Next year we'll get some height, and help inside + Washington...the three girls currently committed are all 6'-1 or taller. We may well be stronger on the boards.....we'll see....we should be bigger inside....not as experienced, but some bigger bodies. We've got to win for several reasons....more wins solidfy the NCAA bid. More wins get better recruits to look at NU as a place they want to be....pride.... etc etc etc

There's now a 10 second back court rule (bringing ball up court), and a 5 second throw in rule. The five-second closely guarded rule in the backcourt has been eliminated from the rules book. The closely guarded rule in the frontcourt remains; however, it has been changed to read, “A player holding the ball for five seconds with a defender not exceeding 6 feet (away from them) will be a violation.” Previously, the defender had to be within three feet of the offensive player with the ball to force a five-second violation. There were several new rules and changes made in the last couple of years.

Kelsey Griffin has been playing down under, and done very well...suppose she's interested any 2016, 2017 Austrailian girls in NU ?

Yeah, I seen it too. The first thing I thought of was this coach must have run out of pre-game speeches and is tapping the bottom of the barrel for more. I thnk she agreed to be mic-ed up because she thought this game was going in the win column for Minny. Still trying to figure out the "celebration clap" thing. The Minny coach said in the post game interview that her team wasn't prepared for this kind of environment and didn't handle it at all, especially Zahui B. I'm thinking that was just an excuse to protect her star as our star big girls completely shut down Zahui B whether there was 16 people in the stands or 5200 + ! After the game Jeff Greisch went over to get Yori and Natalie Romeo for live post game interviews with BTN. Seeing Natalie's reaction to knowing she would have to be interviewed on live tv and her attempts at getting out of it was priceless!! The kid looked so nervous but actually when her time came to talk, it looked as if she handled it like a pro! Too bad BTN cut away after they interviewed Yori and we didn't get a chance to see Nat do her thing. She got a well deserved ovation from what was left of the crowd that was filing out as she crossed the court on her way back to the locker room though! maybe the minny coach was actually talking about herself not being prepared for this type of environment? majority of minny played at the PBA last year. i was a little surprised by attendance numbers. thought it would be in that 6500-7000+. though, like coach yori mentioned on her wednesday night show that the 8pm start probably took away around 1500. Minn coach could have really been saying they were't prepared for the NU tream that showed up. Our offense and defense were different shemes from the first game, and Minn never adjusted to the change.

Well played by everyone.....really well done by every player. Everyone did their job, and did it well. Havers battled with the big girl at probably a 50 lb disadvantage. Made some nice shots, and she took some shots from Ms B All the seniors just played lights out. Calm and in control...all the time. Girls off the bench didn't slow us down at all. Gave some periodic rests for the starters, and put in productive minutes when on the floor. Nat was lights out.....her best game shooting in her short career....and running the offense. And she's no longer just a freshman. The kids got it ! The team shooting was finally there. The defense scheme...Hallie defensively sagging in the paint to limit B.s touches...double teaming....worked perfectly. Offensive patience & scheme....no wild thrown up 3s..and the scheme to get the ball to the high post (Emilie, Hallie, Allie) was too easy. Minn never defended it (or much else either....they won't go far in NCAAs with no defense)...and it looked like they kind of quit in the second half. Just thought our coaches had the perfect game plans... offense and defense. ...and the girls played them perfectly. I was nervous at the half...thought MInn would come out and might grind us into the floor.....what the He** do I know.

Romeo averaging almost 12 ppg since starting, is really helping pick up the scoring. We just need more pts from everyone..... obviously. Never thought Brandi would be a rebounder.....but she's worth her weight in gold grabbing rebounds. This is Emilys year...just a great Husker in every way. Minn will be tough....pure and simple. Zahui B is the key, whichever way it goes. Can't let her camp out under the basket...somehow.

dlrrk.....we're very happy Rachel's coming to Nebraska for the obvious reasons. We can tell she's a dedicated hard worker that wants to compete, and make herself, and the team better. As far as the fans are concerned that's exactly the kind of player we love to see on the team. Rachel hasn't flown under our radar, thats for sure......we (the fans) can't wait to have her here on campus, and in Husker RED ! Good luck to you..... and thank you.....for your serving our country !

And it will cost them. Last time I looked OSU was ahead by almost 20....OSU was shooting the eyes out of the basket, and simply was lots more athletic than Iowa....and ran Iowa pretty much out of the gym....Iowa looked real frustrated. just checked the score 100-82 ...OSU

ILL beat Purdue by one. White had 14 pts & 10 reb

Our shooting percentage was much better than of late. Seemed like we are more settled emotionally, and we have adjusted to the loss of Rachel, and will play as best we can, with what we have.....which is improving. Not a bad game at all. Less turnovers too. As said, the end of game slow down seems to not work well.....that's just not our pace of play. Not so sure we didn't start the slow down too early. Nice shooting when it counted Nat ! ....and Emily was on fire !!
