  1. Definitely cool. But right now it doesn't matter our place much except for tournament (B1G) seeding. We just need wins at this point since we are kind of low in that column compared to the others.
  2. I hate that song too. ON topic, I love these guys, they're family. They play with a chip on their shoulder and if they keep it up, I don't think this game will be a problem.
  3. I think we'll need at least 3 of the next four to avoid this...but I'd rest easier if we swept, since that wiscy win would be a boost, and we'd get some of those missing road wins...let's sweep!
  4. great interview with views and talk from coach painter from Purdue: http://www.huskers.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?&db_oem_id=100&id=3207141
  5. Let the showdown begin. We have the tiebreaker, just need to take care of business; I'd rest much easier if we won out.
  6. Yeah as a senior I'd really like to see him step it up. He is pulling it together in all other aspects besides scoring, which is confusing. I'd like to say it could be something of a reverse reaction to his scoring-heavy performance as a junior. But I think he'll pull out of it fine, which I'm hoping is sooner than later. We need him for the tournament season!
  7. Love uneblinstu's post. I'd agree on several fronts. -pettaway is a beast, and he continues to drive this team. He is the incarnation of our passion to get to the tourney and play hard right now. It's so fun watching this team play together. (PBA has great fan enjoyment/entertainment value) -Shavon is complimenting Terran well, and I think the pressure taken off him by pettaway has helped him. -tai is really starting to open up over the last few games, but still has work to do, along with ray. They are still in the kind of funk shavon was in earlier, but it don't think it would be too hard to change; all it takes is a paradigm shift similar to shavon and pettaway. -Leslee and David are making strides, getting dem rebounds -gotta love Benny! Even after all my years seeing the touted husker defense, this year's team (or half year) is leaps and bounds beyond ANY defensive presence I've ever seen. We shut them down today. After the close period where neither team could score in the first half, we finally got going and they never could. Crowd participation is good, but it can get better. I'd like to see the entire student section behind the hoop get going more, along with the rest of the crowd, not only on jams; they can ignite the crowd as a whole if they would stand most of the game like the court side student section. I was really disappointed with their laziness besides the lower 1/3 of the section. A lot of times it was really hard to get them to stand up, and they would often wait until the last necessary moment to stand up. Otherwise it's really picking up, and the husker fan base is starting to learn how to turn us into a hard place to play and "basketball school" :)love their dedication and support. Pretty classy bunch as a whole, and it makes me proud to be part of the movement.
  8. During the National Anthem you could hear the drumming coming from the front of PBA.I'm sure I heard it too... I thought it was something thematic they were doing for the patriotism
  9. Thanks for the tshirt, bro. Lovin it. You guys are great Go skers #GATA #nebrasketball
  10. True, very true. I remember coming into this year being excited about our depth. We have a way to go, but I like the direction we are headed, and we are playing with a chip on our shoulder finally. Like you said, we have a few big time scorer to depend on, and a bunch of guys with POTENTIAL; not to say that doc didn't have that, but the level of talent we have that we are currently developing, I.e. Nate Hawkins and tai webster, is quite exciting. Can't wait to see how it plays out. I've been hearing a lot that we might have a great year next year and things sure are lining up well for that to happen. At this point in THIS season, though, we have nothing to lose. So all I expect is the guys to put it all out on the floor and have fun playing. And if we can sneak into the tourney or even be on the bubble (gasp!) I'd be overjoyed.
  11. Excellent rc. Agree on most points. Gotta keep this Timmy guy. He coaches em up. They seem to have an actual desire to win, and are starting to believe. The thing that still gets me is why we drop one or two on the road when we SEEM TO GIVE UP. It makes no sense when I happens, I suppose we are just easily discouraged or something, but I guess that happens to the best of them... Again, great post. Sums up everything that needed to be covered.
  12. See my post in "post game" topic. I'm stoked to see us this high.
  13. I'm sorry, I thought this topic was "post game" as in post Illinois game. Sorry. My statements hold, though. On the topic, I still don't think we need ubel back. He would score, but we aren't as fast with that kind of player type in the game, and though we need big men who can play defense, I'm pretty pleased with the way we are development offensively. It'll be a bit until we get bruisers like Payne in here.
  14. Nebraska in 7th place in the conference now! HISTORIC stuff right there, man. I rarely see us that high, though it is because our conference is so loaded and balanced this year. Exciting stuff. Still don't think we will make the tourney unless we make 19-20 wins and better than .500 in conference. Bt you have to like our chances at postseason now, and the drive of this team. Way for Sharon to step up. Was there in the first row and it was great to see him play well again like he did in November. Breakin the slump!
  15. Good league for sure, one that tests your team's endurance toughness and execution in high-pressure situations. I'd like to see more wins from these guys, because it is just so DAMN FRUSTRATING losing all the time...at least as I've followed them. Not a old-timer like the others, but I like what I see so far. It's just that we need the bad Nebraska luck to lift from our program. Lol
  16. I'd totally do it if I weren't a student already. Love the idea
  17. Feel so bad for Walt! Yeah I'd hang with him too, but not sure what we'd do... Hope this break gets everyone focused and pulls us together as a team when we come back, so we can buckle in for the long haul! I know I needed the break....
  18. Totally agree. I believe we have NIT in our sights at this point, unless we come together and become consistent. However, I do also have optimism for the future of this team; the talent's there, we just need to get on the same page and get experience (which unfortunately comes slow, which is why next year is so bright). I really think that if that happens quicker than usual (I have already seen some quick improvements, lots of good lessons for the young guys), we might make that goal of NIT. Realistically it'd take a lot of nice upsets to make up for that creighton loss (scumbags!) and make the NCAAs, which is quite elite, especially as of late. But like tim said, I dont like to always say "NEXT YEAR", we need to grab this season by the horns NOW, and work hard to improve. I like his positive outlook and I think he is the kind of motivator to get the most out his guys, which may mean some surprising leaps of improvement in the future. Can't get too demanding tho, like we are for football. Unacceptable.
  19. Nebraska 68 UMass 75 Just hope I'm wrong. I think this is winnable. Def won't be as hard as New Mexico if we move on; but of course the lobos have been upset prone (overrated) in past NCAA tournaments...
  20. I say, just show up and stay, if for nothing else Timster and Sergej's shot. Haha
  21. yeah you're right. maybe im too hard on them, and I don't mean it as blanketing over all. It just bothers me since we want unity as a fan base when we are starting up here. Its understandable to leave early, just dont walk in front of us students!! lol (if you can't tell, I'm not really mad. just frustrated, and a bit peeved)
  22. Ive been a nebrasketball fan for several years now, and I'm still lovin it, especially with Tim and co. running it now. But one thing I thought I'd bring up is the perturbing lack of respect of fans to STAY FOR THE GAME and not leave early. I realize there is a need to "beat the crowd" just like at the bob, but especially at this new arena with the fans leaving in front of the student section behind the basket with about 6 minutes left, it really ticks me off; it seems like a lack of respect. I've seen several others mention this so I thought I'd bring it up. What is the best way to deal with this as fans? I feel they could at least go up the stairs to leave at court level, though the big exit on the court is so convenient and inviting. I know that the teams we have played so far havent been great (except FGSU), so there is a propensity to leave early, and im sure it will even out when we hit the B1G play. But my question is, is it a good thing to base your actions on what happens, i.e. leaving en masse if we are losing badly? I feel we should stick with the team no matter what, through the highs and lows. I believe in Tim. they need the support. Why leave if you paid for the tickets? Why not stay? I stayed even in the hard times at the bob, and believe me, we had some rough spots ok, I'm rambling. but this really bothers me. Thoughts?
  23. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings Looking at out schedule, looks like tim got us a good challenging trip ahead of us. Not only are the teams in charleston classic good ones, but the big ten has Michigan state at #1, ohio state, michigan and wisconsin (as expected) all in the top 14. We also have iowa, indiana, and minnesota receiving votes. what's scary is that cincinnati, and Umass are also receiving votes and creighton is #23, not to mention miami (though they're washed up. Buckle up for a ride! the testing begins. It will be great if we can beat any of them, but if we win most of the non conference (or sweep it!) the excitement and hype will be glorious. that said, I'm not expecting a lot this year. They are young and stupid right now, but if we come together, we have the athleticism to beat a lot of good teams and make some upsets. I want to rush the court this year! I'm excited guys, I'm excited.
  24. I know it's late, but I'll reply anyway....I think maybe a conservative 16. If it's a good season and we get a few upsets, (at least .500 in B10) we might get to 18. I think that's all it'll take to get in the dance: in the top 6 or 7 of the conference (yes, our conference is THAT good). A bad year might see us going for 13 or 14 wins (7 in non-conference). But I don't see that happening, this team has some great fight. We CRUSHED a good team without our seniors or juniors playing/playing very much. Now THAT will get any husker fan's heart excited.
