  1. And playing at home!
  2. No way that shot is off in .5 seconds! They started the clock late!!!
  3. nustudent, you are a killjoy! It's fun to be delusional once in awhile!
  4. I know, it doesn't really translate to use comparative scores. But we played both Michigan and MSU closer than either VCU or Memphis did today. How good were we at the end of the season? Just fun to think about.
  5. I haven't had a real favorite in the tournament except hoping the B1G shows well. After watching CSU last night I decided they will be my team. Coach Miles previous team, a bunch of guys from Nebraska and SD, and a fun style to watch. This may not last long with Louisville up next! I'm also supporting St Louis, a team that Coach Harriman helped to build.
  6. I like the sounds of this article. Maybe I am reading too much between the lines but I like this paragraph: The four programs left on his list will make their final pitches with in-home visits. Auburn will be in to see the Toronto native on Sunday, followed by a visit from Nebraska later in the week. Atewe said either Charlotte or Nevada will get a final in-home visit with him as well. Sounds like it is between us and Auburn. And I like having the last visit between the two of us! This paragraph makes it sound like Nevada and Charlotte may be on the outside looking in when the decision is made!
  7. The Univeristy of Nebraska Med School in Omaha has a national reputation in several areas. Should be a great option for Sai!
  8. Nice article about Sai on the Rivals site. Sounds like we have a very good chance with him. Coach Miles and Smith have been watching him for two months now and like how versatile Sai is. Although not a traditional 4, he can run Coach Miles system with his skillset. Sai will talk to his coaches and parents, narrow the list of schools down to 3-4 and take a couple visits with the idea to make a decision by April 17. Nebraska has already made his cut. Oh, and we won't have to worry about grades with Sai. He carries a 4.0 grade point average.
  9. This is my thinking too, I think we will have overall more talent but not sure about better players than our seniors in Talley and Ubel provided. Those two will be big players to replace and I don't see it with the players sitting out or coming in. Andre was not a player but he did take up space and make teams not able to penetrate the lane easily. Will be interesting to see how the new guys improve the team if the do. I remember people saying the same thing, or worse, coming in to this past season. I'm not saying I know for certain that we'll have players step up like Ubel and Talley stepped up, but nobody expected them to step up as well as they did! I suspect that Coach Miles and staff had something to do with that also.
  10. And he did that with virtually no screens and no distinguishable offensive philosophy. If he happened to get himself open and they happened to pass it to him, he got a shot. That team could be so much more effective if they installed some kind of offensive system that set up their most gifted scorers!
  11. I was told by a D1 coach that Calipari pays his players through an agent. The agent actually pays the players with the agreement that the players return to him when they go pro. Is this true, or sour grapes? I don't know. He even told me the name of the agent but I can't remember who it was now.
  12. I might move some of those around a bit. In order to really play the 2-guard spot, Shields ideally needs to improve his quickness and explosiveness plus work on that jump shot. And probably ball skills. I think Petteway is talked about as more of a slashing 2 with good ball skills and athleticism. You might flip those two. In fact, from what I understand, I think Shields can play the 3 or a stretch 4 and Petteway can swing anywhere from the 2 to the 4. If we get this Tumalla kid, there will be about half a dozen players who would be almost interchangeable at the 2-4 positions (can you say "switch every screen"?) So, the lineup, from what I understand, could look like: PG Parker, Biggs, Webster (in order of arrival) SG Gallegos, Petteway, Hawkins SF Rivers, Shields, Fuller, Petteway, Hawkins PF Tumalla, Rivers, Shields, Fuller, Petteway, Pitchford C/F Pitchford, Vucetic, Atewe(?) That's 13 guys and obviously they don't all play. If we get Tumalla, and if Pitchford has or develops the back-to-the-basket skills that Tumalla has, we could really be in business next year. But most likely the year after that. Add Tumala & Atewe and that is an exciting list of true D1 talent! And pretty well balanced between all the parts needed to field a competitive team! I know we don't have either Tumala or Atewe yet, but I'm geeked for next year!!!
  13. I saw a portion of a scrimmage one day. Half the time Biggs initiated the offense and the other half Petteway initiated the offense. Petteway has a very quick first step and excellent handles. He seemed to be able to penetrate against our first team whenever he wanted and would either create his own shot or dish out to wide open team mates. He is creative 15 feet in and very much so around the basket. He did not look to shoot the 3 very well. Unless Benny, Biggs or Webster really step up, I would not be surprised at all with a Talley like scenario and Petteway handling the point.
  14. Norm, are you sure Tummala is a 3 for 3? Both the NJCAA and Salt Lake CC sites list him as a sophomore. Either way, I can see why the staff would be interested. He is very athletic, has good inside moves and shoots the 3 well. Do we have anyone currently on the roster or coming in that has that skillset and is 6'6" and 215? Not that I can see, given that I would not call Shields athletic. I also wonder if he can be a defensive stopper. You need a couple of those guys on your roster as well.
  15. I like his film. Good inside outside player. Shoots 40% from 3 point range and 50% overall. Nice inside moves and good bounce. We don't have any one with his combination of athleticism, size and range. Having said that, we are in dire need of some muscle inside!!!
  16. Great kid who gave it all he had. And comes from a great family too!!
  17. Thanks Norm!
  18. What? Is this an obtuse subject or am I just missing the point?
  19. Solich thought it would work by travelling the country and talking to other coaches.Dude landed at Ohio. And has been very successful there. Much more than his replacement was here. I think coaches need to recognize their level. Had Coach Sadler stayed at UTEP he might be on a run of consecutive NCAA bids. Sad truth is that recruits would rather be in El Paso than Lincoln at this point in time. And a coach trying to rebuild a program needs to be an ace recruiter (Tom Crean, Tom Izzo, John Calipari) which Doc did not bring to Nebraska. I understand the lure of the big conferences, but the appeal fades when you get fired. I hope he gets another shot at a C-USA level conference. Did you actually write this with a straight face? On one hand you state that Frank has been successful in Ohio and in the next paragraph you criticize Doc for his recruiting acumen while at Nebraska? Please show me where Frank has shown one ounce of recruiting acumen either at Nebraska or Ohio! And you seriously can't count Nebraska's left overs.
  20. 24 points a game in Wisconsin Division 3? Tim Wagner was also Division 3 All State, the same as Creighton LOI recruit Toby Hegner. Pretty good pickup for the Huskers!!!
  21. no everything was sarcasm as we have two scholarships for this next year and no to Leslee. Just Swan and me as he has this idea built in that a kid that cant sign for over a month from now has to have his decision made today, and gosh forbid he decides he wants to use free trips to places he has built a relationship with and wants to make sure he is making the right decision. He very much loves Nebraska and may have said something I have kept quiet to my friend when he told him GBR and hope he chooses them, for me, when he saw him last week as I want to wait until its official and not just him blowing smoke to appease my buddy. Hmmm...I love unconfirmed inside info!!! Lol. I hope what your buddy heard was true! If so, that means Smith is an option for the 5th scholarship. Otherwise why would Coach Miles visit him? Certainly his size, at 250 lbs, is needed!
  22. Kamdy, are you saying that Smith now has an offer from Nebraska? If so, either he is the 5th scholarship or Atewe is headed somewhere else! Not sure I like it either way!
  23. To be the devils avocate, I say Dylan Talley. We all expected him to be good but did we really expect him to be as good as he has played the 2nd half of the B1G season? Since Dyaln has become comfortable playing point guard he has played lights out and the team is dramatically better as a result!
  24. Norm, I just watched the latest Rival film on Egbunu. A Rivals report says he is raw offensively but the film looked identical to the film you posted here.
