Matthew Atewe -> Auburn -> Washington

I see that Robin Washnut on rivals just posted that, while he has not talked to Atewe, that he has heard Atewe is stating that Nebraska is now in the lead. K State just recieved the commitment from a power forward and, presumably, are no longer in it. Oops. Just saw this was already posted. -

Maybe all of you remember Derrick Chandler differently than I do. I would never place Venson Hamilton and Derrick Chandler in the same sentence. My memory of Derrick Chandler is a highly skilled defensive player and rebounder, very athletic and very strong. but I would never call Derrick an accomplished offensive player. He was able to grab offensive rebounds and put back dunks but shooting the ball was a real challenge for him. This is why I compared Atewe to a Chandler type. -

I hope he is like Derek Chandler. Athletic and proficient in all aspects of the game except shooting from anything more than a couple of feet from the basket. -
I really like Fuller's game. I read somewhere, I think an ESPN recruiting article, that he was chosen as the possible surprise recruit in the B1G this year. I like it!!!
-
So true bball23! We need someone to lock down the middle and this guy could do it beginning next year. I've read some writeups on Atewe and most analysts agree that he is D1 ready to play defense.

Here are a few links to articles about Nick Fuller http://host.madison.com/sports/high-school/basketball/boys/prep-boys-basketball-sun-prairie-s----/article_0445193a-55de-11e2-97d2-0019bb2963f4.html http://host.madison.com/sports/high-school/basketball/boys/prep-boys-basketball-nick-fuller-sun-prairie-continue-to-rebound/article_610f100a-49a2-11e2-94a1-0019bb2963f4.html http://host.madison.com/sports/college/basketball/men/badgers-men-s-basketball-state-s-class-of-shines-brightly/article_a29d711e-2d1f-11e2-aa74-001a4bcf887a.html

Next year's top three players, a poll.
MandRHusker replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I chose Petteway, Biggs and Gallegos. I've seen one practice this year and Petteway looked like the real deal. Biggs looked exciting as well. And it is hard for me to imagine that there will be a another player better than Gallego next year. It may take a full year for these new players to adapt. I like Pitchford a lot, but he didn't look as effective and physical as I would have liked in the practice I attended. He is extremely athletic! I am sure he is making real progress and will be good to go for next season. Regarding Tai, I think he will be a great one, just may need a year to adapt. -
Kevin Thomas: Juco PF, former Texas commit

Here are some game summaries from the current season at Palm Beach State College. Kevin Thomas has performed well but the Holton kid looks like the go to guy on the team> http://www.palmbeachstate.edu/athletics/mens-basketball/game-summaries/default.aspx By the way, Palm Beach State College is 18-0 and ranked 6th in the nation. -
Thank God Football is Over! Now on to B1G Basketball!!
MandRHusker replied to MandRHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Yes, we will be OK in football. But I see all the pieces in what Tim Miles is putting together. Coach Miles is likable, while still being demanding of his players and coaches, he knows how to deal with fans and has a very capable group of assistant coaches who can really recruit. Yes, my expectations are lower for Husker hoops, but I think Coach Miles will take us further. While we start at a much higher level in football and will probably remain competitive in the lower half of the top 30 in college football, I don't see all the same pieces in the football coaching staff. -
For me the most necessary part of having a big is for defense. That is why I will be happy if we can get Atewe!

I saw this, and I almost fainted

UTEP is a much better team with Konner Tucker back the past three games. Tucker had 6 threes last night and is 59% from the three!!! At 6'4" he could pose a match up problem for us!!! -

Good point Tim! And it won't be as important we sign a big man who can score. We are bringing in some prolific scorers next year already. Hopefully Pitchford can score from the low post. We just need defense to replace Brandon and the Brazilian Panda. From what I have seen so far we really can't depend that the Serbian Cigar will be ready by next year!!! -
Good article in the LJS today about the 3 transfers
MandRHusker replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I have just been to one priactice this year and the comments in the article are consistant with what I saw that day. To add, both Biggs and Pitchford have incredible ups. Petteway looks like a natural scorer. Great first step and quick for his height. Also has a very good mid range jumper and can get to the hole with ease. I will try to get attend another practice next week and will report more if possible. -

Atewe had me when he won the opening tip! I don't care if we win the game, I just want to win an opening tip!!! -
I have my fingers crossed! I don't know anything about this guy but he has great measurables!!!
-
Are we actually recruiting this guy? He was also listed last year as having interest in Nebraska.

Here are a few articles regarding Tai Webster's play on New Zealand's National team. I'm not sure I got them in order but found the reading interesting. There are box scores at the bottom of the game articles. http://www.basketball.org.nz/tall-blacks/newsflash-greece-99-tall-blacks-66/ http://www.basketball.org.nz/tall-blacks/flash-score-nigeria-74-tbs-66/ http://www.basketball.org.nz/tall-blacks/welcome-to-brazil/ http://www.basketball.org.nz/tall-blacks/flash-score-nz-68-angola-64/ Read the last one. Lead the team against Angola with 21 points in 24 minutes of play. 5/6 three pointers and only one turnover. Very good game for Tai.
-
I looked up Rob Loe on the St Louis roster. He is a 6'11", 245 lb junior averaging 23 minutes per game generating 6.4 points and 2.5 rebounds. He has the 6th highest minute total on the team.

Norm, the more I see of Fuller the more excited I become. He does everything in that video. Beautiful release on the threes, strong drives to the basket, pinpoint passes and flushed one with ease as well. Love this kid and can't wait until he arrives! Wish we could find more Olympic video on Webster. It has to be somewhere! Would love to see games against Brazil and Greece.

Watching Deverell at the one practice I have attended, he is very athletic. Great ups. Very quick with the ball. A good penetrator. He did tend to turn it over. He will add greatly to the team when he plays. It was evident that he needs some work to become a point guard who will enable others to score. It do think his ability to penetrate will add quite a bit when he has some shooters surrounding him, hopefully next year.
-
Thanks Miles!!! Fuller must be averaging somewhere around 24 ppg. Not bad. Where did you find the stats? Maxpreps has nothing and the 247 sports site is way behind. Also, do you know the level of competition that Sun Prairie plays?
-
Anyone have access to Nick Fuller's most recent game stats? This site only has his first two games!

Looks like Nathan is over his injury and really starting to take over some games!!!
