uneblinstu’s postgame chatter: vol 12; ed 30 - at Michigan

Plus they are a much better team than people give credit for. The Big Ten was just a beast. They’d be a top 5 Big 12 or Big East team this year. He’ll it took back to back last second losses in the last 10 days to eliminate them -

Define good. I think he looked athletic but very raw. Probably should've seen some more time this year but it what it is. I'm probably in the minority though in not wanting him to move on. I'd rather see Green and Cross go before him. I think he's (Arop) a guy that will never be a scorer for you but in a year or two with some development can be an incredible role player for 12-15 minutes a game because he can play the 3 or 4 and you'll get some elite length and athleticsm out of him which gives you a nice variable to use on the glass and defensively. -
He did. He's also said somethings as well (OSU and Michigan running scared....) to fuel that stuff. In regards to basketball....I agree. I think things change and change very quickly. I won't guarantee/expect an NCAA bid next year....but I think were closer to 20 wins next year than we are to 10 wins.

Also think moos is trying to intentionally walk back expectations based upon what happened with all the hype leading into last year. Both moos and frost said some things that caused the hype to build before last year began I think he’s just being cautious
-
For me....I want to know what he is expecting to occur in 2 years. It absolutely takes time to build a successful program. So if he means we are going 9-3/10-2 and winning the West in 2 years. Yeah...I can buy that. It takes time to get to that level. If it is just getting to .500 and a mediocre bowl game. That I can't necessarily buy.
-
Yep. And I'd be shocked if he is. I think we'll add at least 3 more this year.

Cross and Green are my top two picks for not being back right now. Cross could be decent. But just wonder where he fits in. He’s definitely not a 5 -

I agree with this. But I also don't think by the end of year 1 is the baseline for that, especially considering what he was inheriting and what he had to do in 6 weeks last year. If we're still losing 4-5 guys a year in 2-3 years...then it's something to consider. But this was always a make shift roster and it shouldn't be a surprise that there are casualties. -
BUrke is the one I am curious about. To me...the writing seems to be on the wall for Green.

Possible. I didn't know if we were going to be involved with Gavitt this year so I left it up in the air.

And I think you will see an 'easier' non-con schedule than normal for some of these reasons. We know of: Southern UC Riverside @Creighton Caymans Classic Caymans Classic Caymans Classic Big 10/ACC Challenge. That's 7 of 11 there. I'd expect 3 patsies and one other decent team to be added.
-
How much of that was because of what he was being asked to do and the coach that was asking him to do it. If Hoiberg is what we think he is, I think it's fair to expect a jump in production and consistency.
-
Think Rothstein also tweeted that we host Southern too.
-
I get that. It could also just be us not being used to a competent staff as well
-
Hell. Half the time we haven’t even had 11 man rosters

If everyone returns/signs/arrived with the expected Roby departure, we will enter the season with 13 recruited scholarship players. We never did that once under Miles

Amir to George Washington

No

I think we end up with 3 more. One goes unfulfilled. Cross/Frenchie takes one. We use another on a grad xfer front court player somewhere along the line. And then one more as the best available. Roby doesn’t come back and we eat his ship fir next year

Very little risk with the one year guys. The Miles route of leaving 1 scholarship open for a mid-year transfer is idiotic at best. We hit 14% on in that regard. Now that doesn't necessarily mean to sign a guy for the sake of signing a guy to say you are at 13, but the concept of deliberately leaving a spot open is just dumb, outside of the first year or two when you are shaping your program is just negligent. Again, there's a big difference between leaving a spot open and missing on a guy that would bring you to 13...but the target should always be to use the oversigning rule. Agree with you on the big guys. We have good enough guards/wings right now on the surface that next year doesn't have to be a total dumpster fire. We need some warm bodies who can defend (at even an average level) in the Big 10.

As I said...there will always be the Okeke types who are out there who really aren't P5 players but would love the chance to give it a go. I have a hard time seeing us roll through the year with 9 scholarships total being used. I think we will fill most of them, it just might not be with sexy names. We just need some guys who can come in and not be a total loss defensively and give us 5 fouls in the post. There are plenty of those guys out there each year. Let them come in with their shot to play P5 ball, get them out after next year so you can replace them with the talented 2020 guys you are in on.
