I don't think Webster will be scoring next year like his average last year suggests. From all accounts I've heard he was asked to score more last year due to the fact they were very limited on offense. I do think he will look to score, but I anticipate he will be a bit more of a distributor for us.
-
I think a lot of kids don't redshirt today because their 5 year clock has started already so they don't want to lose that year when they inevitably transfer out. It's almost like they PRESUME they will transfer from the get go.
-
No surprise. Don't blame him but I would kind of liked to have seen him back. He seemed fairly on board most of the year and I think he is a hard worker (from all I can tell). Honestly I was surprised to see him get suspended by missing curfew at the end of the year. I would imagine he will follow Miles assuming he falls in somewhere decent, but that's obviously up in the air as well.

The quarantining is just panic ... not saying it's smart or not, but probably prudent given what's going on.

Nebraska (7-24) vs.Indiana (19-12) Game Thread
Husker4theSpurs replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
He was on camera 2-3 days ago mocking the worries about coronavirus by touching everything after being asked about it by the media. -
That's why he said "IF" ... we are finding the virus everywhere. It's not just popping up necessarily, but rather it is revealing itself or we are discovering it. Many people have likely had it and not known. It's not dangerous to most people.
-
Very true ... he won't be the only if he in fact has it. A person is contagious before they even exhibit symptoms with this virus, so it wouldn't have really mattered. But it does reiterate why we are canceling large gatherings.

The tests for corona right now take 2-3 days so we won't hear anything for a while and not all are being tested unless meeting certain protocol. A test was just finished that will be able to have a result in 5-6 hours but it's not widely available yet. -

Utter panic ... people are extra contagious with this thing and for days before showing signs. People need to chill out. It also shows why these types of events are being cancelled. The B1G kinda dropped the ball here a bit ... imagine if you went all the way out there for the tourney only to be told you're not allowed after the first day. -
Mack/Burke BOTH suspended indefintietly
Husker4theSpurs replied to Handy Johnson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Makes you wonder what happened since they were in Minneapolis and were sent back to Lincoln. Gonna be another flip in the offseason. I was looking forward to Burke being back--hope he still is. Who knows with Mack? Not sure he wanted to be here too badly really. I too will be watching in person tomorrow ... could be ... interesting? -
He also referred to "Dirk the Dagger" Chatelain (in addition to Sip).

I expected we could win 3-4 wins in conference max, but I didn't forsee the non-conference going quite that poorly. No big shocks here, but the predictable nature of losses (early 2nd half failures ... inability to finish around the rim) for the most part is frustrating. The returning pieces I like to stick around concern me more than I thought they would. We need some more mature leadership at key positions. I hope we find it with the 3 sitting out and the incoming recruits. Chemistry and character (not saying anything illegal or immoral is going on, just immaturity) has me concerned. This year was a pass either way however.

OT: Beilein Making a Beeline to the Exit
Husker4theSpurs replied to HuskerFever's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Just seemed like a strange choice on his part (and Cleveland's I suppose). Probably saw the end coming and figured he'd give it a shot? It felt to me like he was a person who wouldn't enjoy coaching pros so much, but whatever ... -
He's not going to be a rim protector ... just don't see it. Time will tell ...
-
It's all opinion. I don't feel like Arop will be here longer than one more year and likely will never be a significant contributor. He doesn't shoot well enough from the outside and isn't big enough to play down low. In my perspective if he has to be a contributor 2 years from now it means we've missed on many prospects in recruiting. For his sake I hope he's wrong. The way people are talking about the difference he could make if we played him more is akin to the backup QB often being the most popular choice.
-
Maybe somewhere else smaller ... not here though. If we don't recruit someone better, then we have bigger problems.
-
If you're talking about here at Nebraska ... no way.

I think you're right about Garza but Wieskamp isn't going anywhere. -

Made the trip to Iowa City today ... probably about 50 Husker fans there in total. Nice place to see a game. Good home crowd (except for the fact they are Iowa fans ... annoying) and sight lines. Gets loud in that dug in, dark bowl of an arena. - I don't know why, but I continue to be amazed at how many lay-ups (especially Yvan) and shots we miss around the hoop. - Green brought good energy today, but does tend to freeze up the offense a bit. One of our better players today though. - Better effort and engagement by Mack today ... like others I have my doubts about whether he'll be here next year, but I hope so. - We are just so outmanned. Need to improve at all positions desperately. Gonna take a lot of patience ... - Cheatham has really disappeared for the most part the last month. Gets out of control a lot. Wonder where his motivation is given being a grad transfer on a really bad team. - Burke can do a lot of good things, but just a tad wild and impatient. - We have to play zone anytime Kavas is in the game. Our use of the zone got us back in the game in the 1st half. - I like the thought of what Cross can become and how he'll fit in next year. - Iowa fans are annoying and complain a lot, even when up 30. - Iowa has a lot returning next year ... could be good for a while. THIS IS GETTING TOUGH TO WATCH ... -
This year is a throwaway year except in the fact I'd like to see buy in and growth. I honestly think we've seen that for the most part. Last night was disappointing but it was bound to happen I think (not trying to make excuses). My big concern is that I think most of us are hoping Mack will be a leader and consistent presence this year and for at least next year as well. I'm sometimes not sure he is a team player (although he's obviously the best all around player on the team) and I wonder how well he's respected by his teammates. I would hope our point guard is a good leader and a leader by example ... I'm just not sure I see that in Cam right now, but obviously he has room to grow as well and is a young man still.
-
He definitely seemed as bothered as I've heard/seen him. I suppose it's disappointing when your "leader" is late again for a team function and then felt like a no show for the game as well. Keep building the culture, but this felt like a step backwards tonight.
-
I think he will be gone by the beginning of the season next year, but who knows? Kids don't want to redshirt these days because they know they might transfer anyhow and lose that year along the way. If you transfer within Division 1 your sit out year is your redshirt and then you still could transfer down a division and play right away (or grad transfer within division 1). I just don't see that he has the strength or skill to compete down low or in the paint and his shot isn't good enough to space the floor. Yes, he's athletic, but he needs something else to function well in Holberg's system. Just my $.02

Ahh ... I get it now. Sorry, read too quickly.

He was guilty of the charge, correct? That he destroyed her phone? Just because someone calls one out on this board to consider a particular subject more thoroughly does not mean they are labeling one a supporter of domestic violence. Did anyone do that to you? Things are not binary ...
-
I have facilitated Domestic Violence Intervention Programs for years and am well-versed on the topic both by training and education. It's not necessarily about whether contact was made or not ... it's part of a greater mindset that requires a lot of discipline and "want to change" for the perpetrator. The perpetrator often chooses (subconsciously) a person who makes excuses for their behaviors ... often because the perpetrator has subconsciously trained them to do so. If alcohol was involved that could be a further issue and an indicator that it could easily occur with another "victim" as the first thing that happens when one is intoxicated is that the prefrontal cortex where decision making and "morals" lie is numbed out or disconnected from the other more primitive areas of the brain. There's much more to domestic violence than whether physical contact was made or not. All that being said, people can change and I hope that he makes the best of this 4th chance.
