So, one of Nebraska's assistant coaches is interviewed for a head coaching position at a Big East school. But he doesn't get the job. So . . . that's a positive all the way around, right? And, of course, that's a logical opportunity for a local sports reporter to write about, "Rashon Burno, who left after 50 days to go to Arizona State."

I did. And I got the ticket cards: a nice innovation.

Oh .... I just now got the reference. No. I had no such idea in mind. Definitely not.

That's an interesting dalliance between Ohio State and the Creighton coach. It didn't quite get to the "Pig Sooie" stage. But it certainly looks like more than a harmless flirtation. Here's predicting a departure within the next few years to a place where the administration doesn't fire a coach for two lack-luster years after a bunch of highest-level performances.

And Future150 lists Russell Barlow as a four-star, with a National Rank of 67. Hudl has a web page on him (but no video), where he's listed as 6'10" and 235 pounds: that's a couple inches and multiple pounds bigger than he's listed anywhere else.
-
And, according to Rivals, he also has offers from Iowa State, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M. And he holds a National raking by Rivals of 118.
-
The video is from August 2016. He's now an ESPN four star. Maybe he's improved since then.

Hans Brase has, apparently, committed to Iowa St. So, are we still saying, "There is another"?

What is falling apart for Illinois? They show three commits from guards for 2017, each of whom is a Rivals four star. And one of those three is Mark Smith.

Wow! Great video of Petteway. But what happened to the long hair!!!
-
This sentence from the article seems odd, considering his move to Syracuse where they play zone: "He’s also working on his defense, in hopes of becoming a 3 and D guy, ala Danny Green."

In today's Tunnel Talk at the Red Sea Scrolls, Robin Washut has some some positive information about chances for both Tai Webster and Terran Petteway to find a spot in the NBA this year. -

This is a report of studies on optimism v. pessimism: "Pessimism is trouble because it's bad for your health. Numerous studies have shown that optimists are physically and psychologically healthier than pessimists. . . . The researchers found that pessimists' health deteriorated far more rapidly as they age. . . . research conducted by the Mayo Clinic . . . found optimists have lower levels of cardiovascular disease and longer life-spans. . . . researchers at Yale and the University of Colorado found that pessimism is associated with a weakened immune response to tumors and infection. Researchers from the Universities of Kentucky and Louisville went so far as to inject optimists and pessimists with a virus to measure their immune response. The researchers found optimists had a significantly stronger immune response than pessimists. Positivity and Performance: Keeping a positive attitude isn't just good for your health. . . . In one study [of insurance salespeople] . . . Optimistic salespeople sold 37% more policies than pessimists, who were twice as likely to leave the company during their first year of employment. Persistent pessimism on message boards like this is something to be avoided!

On highlight videos, he is able to use a dribble or two or three to create space for his outside shot . . . and the shots always go "swish" in those videos. -
Here are some quotes from Tyler Maye in Robins article that seem genuine: “It actually blew me away with the facilities and how cool the coaches were and how cool the guys were,” Maye said. “Just working out with the guys and seeing what I need to work on, that made me want to work. "Coach Miles has always told me that he’s going to challenge me, and I feel like I need something like that going into college. I think I need someone who’s going to push me and bring out the best in me. “I feel like (Nebraska) fits all the qualities that I need in a school for the next four years in how I can grow up away from home and the challenge I’m going to face every day going up against high-level guards in practice and in games. So yeah, it is something to think about.”
