  1. Bubble team my ass! Suck on that, striped skunks!
  2. And St. Clair is the throws coach now. He can get her there.
  3. According to newspaper, she’s left VB team to focus on track and field. https://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/volleyball/after-a-lot-of-consideration-about-my-future-goals-meyer-leaves-husker-volleyball-to-focus/article_7cb3609d-9220-5233-9069-25dea0c2eab5.html#tracking-source=home-sports
  4. I see Meyer threw shot over the weekend. Over 50 feet is an amazing mark for her debut in the indoor college track season. If she could devote more time to the sport, I'd like to see St. Clair coach her in weight/hammer.
  5. Track scholarships are typically not full ride scholarships. Most track athletes still pay something toward their education.
  6. This is a very good thing for her, especially with the new throws coach (one of the best in the business).
  7. With the recent hire of a new throws coach at UNL, Meyer would be crazy not to give track and field a try. JMO
  8. I doubt USD coach would leave right now. Her son plays for the Yotes and is an excellent player (unfortunately he suffered a knee injury late in the season, though). Also, she has some really good players that are opting to come back another year, so next year's team should be good again.

  10. Sounds like the pandemic played a role in her decision and that she decommitted this summer (possibly before she had the NU offer). Also said she played well against top posts in the country this summer while playing for the Lasers (the best basketball club in the state of Nebraska, but that is JMO).
  11. This is a new recruiting tool. With a fervid Husker fan base for all Husker sports, an athlete could be more likely to earn extra money at a place like NU compared to a place like Iowa State. I don't know that it's such a good thing. Guess we will see what happens over the next few years.
  12. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Brown gets the waiver. I think if an athlete cites the virus as a factor in their decision to transfer and the new school is closer to their family, the NCAA may be more likely to approve the waiver.

  14. I remember 00s flattening her a few times and it was hilarious.

  16. Heard McGraw is stepping down at Notre Dame.
  17. http://www.espn.com/high-school/girls-basketball/recruiting/rankings/_/class/2020 I'm not sure if this fits in with a previous thread so I decided to start a new one. I had not looked at the rankings on ESPN until this morning (for the class of 2020). I notice that there are 2 young ladies from Nebraska that made the top 100: #54 Nyayongah Gony from Lincoln HS (committed to Miami, 6-3 F) and #67 Maddie Krull from Millard South (committed to South Dakota, 5-9 PG). Krull actually comes in a few spots higher than Emily Ryan out of Kansas whom I believe we were recruiting heavily until she committed to Iowa State (although there probably isn't much difference once you get out of the top 20 on these rankings). I seem to recall discussion about Gony last season but I don't recall if anyone ever mentioned Krull. We sure could use a PG and the fact we had one in-state makes me think there should have at least been a conversation with her. Maybe there was and she just wasn't interested? Gony's athleticism is something we could definitely use and a solid PG is something this team has desperately needed for the past 4 years. In a state that doesn't produce a lot of DI basketball players, I would like to see NU hang onto more of them (or I suppose they could always go to Creighton, but I'd rather that they commit to NU).
  18. Maybe she likes our ag program?
  19. I think she’s pretty athletic but has been bitten by the injury bug a few times. Sure would be nice to have her back. It also looks like she had a pretty good freshman year at Cal and then all the injuries hit. Hope she becomes a Husker!
  20. I’m more than happy to have her join us! I like the part where it says she is athletic.
  21. At least she didn't wind up at Iowa! From her bio: "She chose Nebraska over Xavier, Belmont, Western Michigan, Wright State, Indiana State, Youngstown State, American and IUPUI."
  22. Best of luck to Brown - she's one hell of a player! What are the odds she winds up at Notre Dame?
  23. We should never lose a starter to an NAIA school even if it is her hometown. This just looks bad. And I have a bad feeling there might be another transfer or two.
  24. It will be interesting to see what the NCAA does as far as granting additional eligibility to winter sports (I think it's a given that it will happen for spring sports, especially track and field because the outdoor season had not officially begun yet in most conferences). There is a lot being kicked around and nothing is official yet, but it sounds like they may be leaning toward giving current seniors another year as long as it is at the same institution. It would be easier for the NCAA to make this requirement because it will be easier to keep track of which schools get additional scholarships since many HS seniors have already signed LOI. It sounds like they would allow a current senior to transfer but unless the school they transfer to has extra scholarship money, they may have to pay their own way. My daughter was hoping to make it to NCAAs her final season, but the pandemic threw her and a lot of other kids a major curve ball by prompting the cancellation of the entire season. She has been interviewing for jobs (companies have switched to video interviews rather than fly her around), and she is also planning a wedding for next year. It is highly unlikely she will stay in school another year especially since she is graduating with her masters degree and there is no PhD business program for her to enroll in at USD. I imagine many many other kids are in very similar situations. I feel bad for HS juniors who were looking forward to putting in a good season for recruiting purposes this fall. I am wondering if the NCAA is going to have to allow additional scholarships for a while, because they basically gave every spring college athlete nationwide a redshirt year. Some won't use the additional year, but many will.
