  1. Do we have glue on the bottom of our shoes? Why do we stand with our feet rooted in place, with a defender covering us, but still think we can receive the ball? This reminds me of when my daughter played club in elementary school. MOVE YOUR FEET.
  2. Looks like our stinker quarter is the 4th quarter this time.
  3. I haven't seen Kennedi play, but if she has a quick first step and some speed, she could be the type of defender that I call a pest. Those are the types that never leave you alone, are always buzzing around poking at the ball, they get some steals and oftentimes will be fouled by the person they are defending because of frustration (which can put the other team in foul trouble). I am all for taller players, but they must be athletic. I define athleticism apart from skill. I've seen way too many taller players (around that 6' mark) that can shoot a decent percentage, but they can't move their feet, are always a step behind on offense and defense, and they rarely get open long enough to get a decent shot off. Those are the types of players we can't afford to have. So the question is, where do you find these taller players with athleticism (overall speed, quick first step, jumping ability), that are also skilled enough (dribbling, defending without fouling, shooting) to play in the B1G? And how do we keep them on our team (don't mean to beat a dead horse, but we had 3 of these types a few years ago and they all 3 left us)?
  4. This type of performance that we’ve seen way too many times this season, should not be happening in year 7 of AW’s tenure, especially with the players we have coming off last season.
  5. As someone mentioned earlier, cannot call time out to light a fire under everyone’s bum.
  6. In 16 minutes, we’ve made 3 field goals.
  7. Ugh, starting the game with a 6 point first quarter. Once Maryland gets going, it’ll be ugly.
  8. That's part of it, and I think a lot of trainers try to train them like men, when there could be better ways to do things based on physiological differences. But that's probably opening up a whole can of worms.
  9. I noticed this yesterday, too. I went to their website to see how she’s doing and was surprised that she has been removed from the roster. Hope she’s doing okay.
  10. OSU had too many shots early in the game where they were wide open, either under the basket or at the 3 point line. We certainly do miss AW. When your shots aren't falling, you step it up on defense (or at least that's what I was always told). I don't understand why so many of our shots under the basket were complete misses, sometimes not even touching the rim. I realize there was contact on some of them, but, still, I expect to see a better percentage there. This team needs to start the game with a nasty attitude on defense. Try to keep the other team from scoring on their first 3 possessions, or something like that. And stop trying to pass the ball through two defenders.
  11. I agree about starting Hake. We need to have better offensive production at the beginning of the game.
  12. First quarter killed us, I darn near turned the channel. We win the other 3 quarters by 4 points or so. Why can't we start games on fire? Instead, I see us driving into traffic, chucking up a shot that oftentimes doesn't hit the rim. What are we doing? Also, JS couldn't get going in this game, which could be why we started so slowly. SH was trying, but her shots weren't falling early. And, of course, everything OSU chucked up went in, so that didn't help. But there were a number of times where we didn't have a defender anywhere near their shooter early in the game, making it easy on them. If we could wipe out the first 5 minutes of the game, we might win this. One other thing, and this is for people that go to the games: Has there been a drop-off in the camaraderie on the bench that we were used to seeing last year?
  13. Somehow, we’re still hanging around in this. I’m impressed with Hake, and I thought MM lifted us with a couple of buckets and an assist or two. AM seemed to play a little better after that.
  14. Yes, that's what I'm saying. I doubt it will happen at the end of this season, though, but knowing that we are losing Haiby next year, and it sounds like we will lose Bourne, too, I don't have very high expectations for next year. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. You never know. On a side note, I'm one of these people that embraced the 3 point line when it was introduced into basketball. Now I hate it. Seems like the mid-range jumper is a thing of the past. I'm tired of seeing players (I'm not talking about NU, I'm talking all of college basketball here) barely dribble across the half court line, then chuck up a 3. That's okay if the time is winding down and you have no choice, but I've seen it too many times when there is plenty left on the clock. I've also seen players recruited mainly because they can knock down a 3 consistently, but are not able to play decent defense or handle the ball well. Call me an old codger longing for the days when the 3 point shot didn't exist.
  15. I agree with this. I had grown accustomed to the previous coach getting us to the NCAAs most years, with a few WNITs sprinkled in (except for her first year and one really off year after we lost a lot of the team after our almost-undefeated season). I feel that having the same expectations of Williams as I did of Yori is reasonable. I will also note that I have largely lost interest in watching this team, happened about 2 or 3 years ago for me. Not having a player connection to the program is part of it. Another part is that I watch more and more non-NU WBB, and then when I switch to a game of ours that is actually televised, it seems like a drop-off. TBH, I prefer to watch Creighton, and I never thought I would say that. So one of my questions is this - how much longer does NU wait?
  16. I’m not exactly sure what she can say after a debacle like today.
  17. I had to take my eyes off the game too many times (because I just couldn’t watch anymore). What was Williams’ demeanor on the sideline?
  18. How many wide open 3s are we going to give them?
  19. Something is really off with this team.
  20. I was thinking the exact same thing last night.
