  1. We were there for Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships a few years ago which took place in early May. I was impressed with the city of Fargo. The weather cooperated while we were there so we were lucky. I didn’t see any of the other athletic facilities while we were there but I have heard they are very nice. Considering the success of their track program, their outdoor facility was seriously lacking - one of the worst I have been to.
  2. Those are some ccccooooolllllddddd winters in Fargo.
  3. In the past 10 years, how many D1 athletes have successfully played both VB and Bball? I think there was that gal from BYU a few years ago, but I can't think of anyone else. I think it would be very very difficult to do, unless you played VB for a school that has little shot at post-season play and then maybe a better shot at post-season for basketball (or vice versa).
  4. Maybe we can at least get her for VB.
  5. For me personally, not at all. She dropped 40+ lbs and has become a much better player. I also get the feeling that she has matured quite a bit. She has put herself in position to be drafted to the WNBA.
  6. Now that Baylor won, Mulkey can burn that outfit.
  7. I know we missed the senior leadership a year ago, but I wonder if we would have been a bit stronger if Blackburn has been able to keep playing. She had fire and attitude and I really missed seeing her on the court.
  8. Did Nebraska try to recruit any of the Arens girls from Crofton?
  9. Michigan really pissed that away at the end. I really thought when they had the ball with about 45 seconds left they should have gone for a quick score so that they could get the ball back. They chose to run it into the shot clock but did score to go up by 1. But then a stupid mistake on defense and then another on offense cost them the game. SMH.
  10. That was practically a 3 that Cain made earlier.
  11. She’s boxed out and grabbed some rebounds, which is better than not boxing out and letting Purdue get the rebounds like I’ve seen many of our players tonight.
  12. Might not hurt for her to take a seat for a few minutes to settle down.
  13. We are all discombobulated right now. Purdue running all over us.
  14. It’s not just ball handling turnovers though. We have some really bad passes that are head scratchers.
  15. I think we have several fantastic players, but our turnovers are just mind boggling to me.
  16. Taylor should not be handling the ball up the court.
  17. And her 175 mark came as a sophomore in HS, which is a sick number to have as a sophomore. I was talking to a former Olympian who is a throws coach at a D1 school and he was salivating at the thought of recruiting her, right up until I told him she was committed to NU VB. I still think she throws disc for NU in the spring - she can wear a belt to help her back if she needs to. I will be interested to see her progression in this track season. If she keeps improving like she has been, she has a shot at making Olympic trials in 2020.
  18. She throws discus over 175 feet, which I believe puts her in second place on the all time HS top 10 in Nebraska. I would think she’s more of a lock for VB and then track and field, but not basketball. Her discus talent is enough to take her to the NCAA track and field championships now - so I suspect Pepin will bend over backwards to make it possible for her to throw for outdoor track.
  19. Is this the same crew that cost us the Michigan game last year?
  20. Either Maryland is super strong, we are super weak, or a little of both. They seem to be able to muscle their way around, we cannot.
  21. Good pass to Cain.
  22. Let’s wake up
  23. Lincoln might be too warm for someone from North Dakota. JK. I bet she winds up a Gopher.
  24. I'm really curious why our non-freshman aren't productive in points and rebounds. Nicea is the exception - she seems to grab rebounds, get some steals (or cause a steal by tipping a pass), and we know she can explode for points. Whitish will just go cold for long spells, and she doesn't look comfortable handling the ball under pressure (Haiby gets the award for pressure ball handling skills). We have to know teams are going to key on Kissinger so why aren't we adjusting to that? And Cain, I just don't know. She seems really slow and hesitant this year, and she doesn't seem to want to jump for a pass. Something seems really off with her. Maddie is streaky and maybe she's just pushing too hard, I don't know. She made a huge mistake fouling the 3 point shooter yesterday. The freshman make mistakes, too, but they are getting fewer and farther between. And the hustle by the freshman + Nicea is unmatched by the rest of the team. We are 18 games into the season, my patience isn't what it was at the beginning. And I agree with the bizarre substitution patterns - Brown and Veerbeek were getting started and then they are put on the bench. We would just get up by 4 points or so, and then we'd sub and suddenly we were down by 5. Why not leave them in for a few minutes longer to build on that lead? They didn't seem like they were winded and I thought I even saw a look on someone's face like "Why am I being subbed out?". I would just as soon start the game with our most aggressive players offensively and defensively and try to get a fast start, then sub out 1 or 2 at a time. If Hannah or Kissinger are subbed in and are hot, then leave them in. I think the only 2 players that haven't been scoring machines at some point are Mitchell and Mershon, so the rest are capable of going off for at least 10+ points in a game.
  25. Those rebounding numbers are ugly. Especially when you consider our height advantage. Thankful that we hit our 3s at the end.
