  1. I think we'll see Lat and Wilhelm on the court together quite a bit this year, and in that lineup Wilhelm would be guarding the other team's 5. He's bigger and stronger than Lat right now.
  2. I like it, but there’s no chance Walker isn’t starting game 1.
  3. The players voted on who to bring in for the concert. No sense in arguing about this.
  4. https://www.si.com/college/recruiting/basketball/si99-basketball-prospect-rankings-2021 #29 - Bryce #38 - Wilhelm #44 - Keon
  5. Highly unlikely Derrick and Eduardo will ever be on the court at the same time. In Hoiberg's 4-out (we also ran a ton of 5-out last year), there are two slots, two wings and a guy in the post. Derrick would be in the slot opposite the point guard where he'd be running pick and pops (Lat, Trevor, Thor, Cross, Kavas and Teddy have all been in this spot the last two years), and coming off flare screens on the perimeter. This doesn't fit his skillset at all, as it's imperative that the player in this spot is at least a threat to shoot, to keep the floor spaced so there's room for backdoor cuts and drive & kicks that Hoiberg wants constantly happening. Whenever Cross and Stevenson were in the game, their defender generally kept two feet in the paint at all times and it really stalled our movement on offense. I also wouldn't want either one of those guys defending the other teams "4". There are very few 90's-type 6'9" 260 lb. enforcer power forwards in college basketball. Those guys are centers now. Most 4's are 6'8" 210 lb., long and athletic. Derrick doesn't have the foot speed to keep up with those guys. With the way our roster is comprised, we're more likely to have 4 guards on the court than 2 traditional bigs.
  6. There will only be 7-9 players in the regular rotation out of our 14 scholarship players. Having 5-7 guys sitting on the bench who all think they should be playing can cause a lot of problems. Trevor likely knew his minutes wouldn’t increase coming back this year. The value in having guys like that on the bench is under-appreciated. Illinois had a great season last year - 1 seed in the tourney and they only had 8 guys on their roster with a pulse. If you watched their bench players in mop-up minutes, it was hilarious. To an extent, depth (past the 9th or 10th guy) in college basketball is overrated. Good team guys are more important than pure talent at the end of the bench. It’d be nice if those two things weren’t mutually exclusive, but they often are (example: Trevor Lakes and Shamiel Stevenson). There was a reason Trevor wasn’t shown the door.
  7. My favorite part was probably Walker’s finish with the left hand. Haven’t had a big man do that since John Turek...
  8. Interesting... Simeon turned 17 in January (halfway through his sophomore year). Will turn 18 as a junior and would be 19.5 by the time he graduated high school. Another reason for me to hold out hope that he's the mystery "re-classifier". Official visit is set to Lincoln in October.
  9. Official visitors the first weekend in October, per Washut: Ramel Lloyd Omaha Biliew Simeon Wilcher Chase Clemmons
  10. Just purchased on Amazon. Looking forward to reading it. I love this game.
  11. Expected Ramel to drop because he hasn’t played much in the last year. Still think he’s a 4 star caliber talent though. Green dropping that much surprised me. His summer went about as well as it could have. Got some more Power 5 offers and statistically outplayed Traudt in many of their games. He doesn’t have the length, skillset or potential that Traudt does, but I think he’ll be a real solid college player. Hopefully for Nebraska.
  12. Missed free throws and turnovers have made us look like a bad high school team at times. Also, our 2P% was 48%, which is very poor. Especially since we were apparently the best in the conference at getting analytically “good shots” - threes (especially corner threes), shots at the rim and free throws. That means we’ve been atrocious at converting shots at the rim. It seems like we get more shots blocked than any other team I watch during the season, and it drives Hoiberg nuts.
  13. I miss the days where, when certain guys would catch and shoot a three, I expected it to go in. Doc and Barry seemed to almost always have a couple of those guys on their teams. Edit: I have to say, towards the end of last year, I did get that feeling whenever Kobe Webster would let it fly. Hopefully Keisei, CJ, Bryce etc will give us some more of those guys.
  14. I’ll never forget that game. He and Nate Johnson were a fun duo. Drevo was a career 31.9% three point shooter and made 1.3 per game.
  15. Drevo was very skilled for his size, but I wouldn't call him a "deadeye" shooter.
  16. Some that come to mind are Cochran, Conklin, Velander, Perry and Ryan Anderson.
  17. I have no expectations for Keisei this year. He can shoot the crap outta the ball. The previous two seasons we had the best shooters in the portal transfer to Nebraska, according to Hoiberg (Kavas and Lakes). Those guys can flat out shoot it too. But shooting alone won’t give him consistent significant minutes. He does have some similar mannerisms and feel as Thor, regardless of what hand they shoot the ball with. But Thor is taller, stronger, longer and quicker (Thor’s quickness was underrated). Lack of quickness is the biggest weakness I see with Keisei, and it’s pretty significant. Watching his film, it takes him a long time to cover a little amount of space. Not a big problem in JUCO (although it did show up if you watched his full games, not just highlights) and 3 on 3 international ball, but he’s not getting around anyone in the Big Ten moving like that. If he can think and PLAY fast, that will negate some of his lack of quickness, but it could take some time to adjust at this level. I think he will struggle on both ends at first. Sincerely hope he proves me wrong. I’m just choosing to have no expectations for juco transfers at this point. I bought into the hype (that came straight from both Miles and Hoiberg’s staff) that Jervay Green was an NBA player. His juco film made him look like one. If Keisei turns out to be a Marcus Perry or Paul Velander type of player, that’ll be perfectly fine with me.
  18. There’s skittles in there
  19. Maybe in the eyes of people like us. But that doesn’t matter. Recruits don’t seem to care. Jalen Suggs, Chet Holmgren and Hunter Sallis could’ve played literally anywhere in the country.
  20. No inside info. I’ve been following his recruitment closely for the last two years and have probably read/watched every interview he’s done. Gonzaga checks all the boxes of what he’s looking for (unlike most of the other blue bloods that have offered him). Has a good relationship with the coaches (seems like he’s just been waiting for them to offer) and they play a style that fits his game. In a recent interview, he said if they offered this summer “I’ll definitely take an official visit there.” He wants to commit in September/October. I think what separates Gonzaga the most is the types of players they have been putting in the NBA recently. Traudt fits the mold of those players to a tee. Versatile, skilled big men like Olynyk, Tillie, Collins, Sabonis, Wiltjer. Holmgren and Timme are next, and they’ll both likely be gone after this coming season. He’d have a good opportunity to start as a freshman there. I’ve always thought Nebraska had a real shot at landing Traudt, even after KU, UNC, Virginia, Michigan St, etc offered. But I was holding out hope that Gonzaga wouldn’t offer.
  21. I believe this is bad news for Nebraska and everyone else recruiting Traudt.
  22. Game 2 vs. Golden State, Banton gets a double-double. 10 pts, 12 reb, 3 ast, 3 stl, 2 blk He’s been very active and impactful.
  23. They made an epic attempt at tanking. Traded away CP3, Galinari, Steven Adams and Schroder and put a fully healthy Horford in street clothes all in hopes of being able to draft Cade Cunningham. They increased playing time for all the younger players and used the season as sort of a "tryout" to see who'd be worthy of a roster spot going forward. But it did feel like they inserted Roby for Horford with the thought that it would increase their chances of getting the #1 pick. I think Roby and Pokusevski surprised the front office with their play. I'm hoping they give those two guys a real shot at taking Bazley's spot at the 4. Bazley is long and athletic, but he's wildly inefficient and just doesn't have the same feel for the game as the other two. It's awesome to have a Husker in the league again, and I think we'll have a couple more soon.
