  1. Just curious what you think Lat is able to do that Edwards isn’t? Lat struggled to guard on the perimeter and in the post last year. Offensively, he was inconsistent shooting the ball and turnover prone whenever he attempted to dribble. Lat weighs 204 pounds and has a 6’11 wingspan. I’d be curious to know what Keon’s wingspan is. He looks long. I think Keon would be a great fit in a 4 guard lineup offensively. Defensively, we will need someone in the lineup to guard the opposing team’s 4-man, which nowadays is very rarely a 6’9” 245 lb power forward type. There are plenty of 4s around the country that have the same build as CJ Wilcher or Keon Edwards. Edwards is 17 and hasn’t yet gone through an offseason of college strength and conditioning. He has the frame to add 10-20 pounds of muscle. Regardless, here are some players who started at the “4” in the big ten. Jacob Grandison - 6’6” 205 Miller Kopp - 6’7” 215 Connor Mcaffrey - 6’5” 205 Seth Lundy - 6’6 210
  2. Alright, I really like the potential of that lineup. Reminds me of the Clippers. Point guard (Pat Beverly/Trey McGowens) - Great perimeter defender. Will bring the ball up the court and initiate the offense, but the offense usually doesn't run through him. But, you can't just leave him open, because he shoots the three at a good clip. Two long, athletic, versatile shot creators who can play multiple positions and can score on all three levels (Kawhi Leonard and Paul George/Bryce McGowens and Keon Edwards). Another wing (Nic Batum/CJ Wilcher) - Very good three point shooter who will stretch the floor and give more space for the creators to go to work. Is also a threat to get to the rim off the dribble if the defense closes out too hard on the kickout. Center (Ivica Zubac/Derrick Walker) - Enforcer type on defense, good pick n roll guy on offense. Team player.
  3. That 2017-18 team, on paper, had us really excited. G - Glynn Watson (Jr) - He had stretches during his Soph. year when he looked like the best pg in the conference. 4-star, top 75 recruit G - James Palmer (Jr) - Former 4-star, top 100 recruit G - Anton Gill (Sr) - Former 4-star, top 50 recruit. Contributor on very good Louisville teams. G - Evan Taylor (Sr) - Elite perimeter defender and leader F - Isaiah Roby (Soph) - 4-star recruit with NBA potential F - Isaiah Copeland (Jr) - Former 5 star recruit who produced at Georgetown. C - Jordy Tshimanga (Soph) - Former top 150 recruit coming off a very promising freshman season. C - Duby Okeke (Sr.) - Grad transfer, finally got the rim protector we thought we needed. That's a solid 9-man rotation. There's NCAA tourney experience and guys who had proven themselves at this level. There's size, length, offense, defense, rebounding, shot creators, etc.
  4. If Keon is what he appears to be, I think that first lineup would be really hard to keep off the floor.
  5. Agree with all of this, except I'd say Kobe is currently our best 3 point shooter. I expect Keisei, Bryce and CJ to challenge him for that title. But we saw Kobe make 7 and 5 threes in back to back games. The most Trey ever made in a game was 3, and that was just on one occasion. Kobe also made more threes and shot a higher percentage than Trey (although it was close).
  6. It’s crazy to imagine a 17 year kid being in high school one week, then being thrown into the middle of a college basketball season the next week. DePaul was not a good team, but they apparently had an established group of experienced players who had been training/practicing/playing together for the past 1+ years.
  7. I look at it as Bryce, CJ and Keon replacing Thor, Teddy and Shamiel. Small forward isn’t really a position in this system fwiw. We generally have two slots, two wings and a post on the floor. Ideally the slots and wings are all interchangeable. Thor and Teddy indeed played both in the slot and on the wing. I expect Keon to primarily be on the wing. But last year we often had Lat in the slot opposite the point guard as a “stretch 4” (same with Cross and Kavas the year before). Keon seems to give us more versatility than all of these players, since you can put him in the slot and either run your “stretch 4 pick n pop” type package, or your 4 guard package with him, depending on the other team’s personnel. I’m not sure Hoiberg has had a player this (potentially) versatile here.
  8. Mater Dei is demolishing teams (average margin of victory is 34 points), so I'm sure he's not playing much in the second half of games, but he's still averaging 20 points and 9 rebounds a game.
  9. That's crazy. FWIW, I think Keita has more potential than any other big on the roster, and I like his film better than any Husker big man recruit in the last 20 years (Vander Joaquim would've been #1 for me, but he obviously never made it to campus). Of course, we've been burned by juco film before, so I'll be taking a cautiously very optimistic approach with this one.
  10. Keita will be a sophomore eligibility-wise when he gets here. This year doesn’t count towards juco players eligibility, so he’ll be a freshman again next season at Coffeyville. Tominaga will be a sophomore this upcoming season, even though he’s played two years of juco ball.
  11. Nice. And honestly, I know they’re just highlights, but his highlights really aren’t much less impressive than Bryce’s.
  12. Think this needs to be clarified... he started out as a top 25 player in the 2021 class in his sophomore year, but he did drop in the rankings - 247 had him ranked #111 (still in the 2021 class) before he reclassified and enrolled at DePaul. Still happy to have him as a Husker.
  13. Visiting the week before his announcement date. Might bode well for us.
  14. Couldn’t agree more. For the first time in forever, they have some likeable players. But now we have to despise them for one more year.
  15. Not sure why Izzo is wasting his time just wishing for things to fall into his lap, because Traudt is 100% not going to Michigan State.
  16. Hoiberg has taken the reigns on his recruitment and I believe he's putting more time and energy into recruiting Traudt than he has any other player. They've built a strong relationship. He wasn't able to do that with Hunter, although Hunter was probably destined for a big time program, regardless. Traudt might not come here, but if he was 100% not coming here, why would he still be doing regular Zoom calls and watching film with Hoiberg? I'm also holding out hope.
  17. Robin generally just passes along information that someone on the staff tells him. Of course, the players will compete for starting spots and playing time and will have to earn it.
  18. Recently, Washut confidently said that Walker would start (at least to begin the year).
  19. Mayen's shooting reputation based on practice reports has also very much surpassed his actual production on the court. 34% isn't bad, but not what you want from your knock-down three point shooter in this offense. He had way too many games of shooting 1-6 from three, or something close to that. This is all while consistently getting open, stand-still looks within the flow of the offense. He also struggles to guard any position defensively. Contrast this to Trey, who is not known as a shooter and many of his threes were off the dribble and/or heavily contested - he shot 37%. I really hope Lat improves his shooting percentage and cleans up the silly mistakes on both ends, but I also think it will be tough to keep other guys (like Breidenbach and Dalano) off the court, if Lat's struggles continue.
  20. His top 8 remains the same and he’s committing in June. Really like his game. FWIW his dad just followed Matt Abdelmassih on Twitter. https://stockrisers.com/s/300/the-latest-on-top-60-junior-ramel-lloyd-jr
  21. Tyon is a no-go. He was gonna commit today... then he didn't. Here's the new guy. Was originally a top 25 player in the 2021 class. Reclassified to 2020 and joined Depaul for the second semester. Now he's transferring, maybe to Nebraska.
  22. He seemed to be a quiet, confident guy. But I think it was all genuine. Tim Miles knows people like his self-deprecating, goofy shtick, but I've heard enough about him to know that his public persona is not genuine. Interesting what people are drawn towards.
  23. Why do Husker fans dislike Collier? Honestly curious. I went to two of his camps and he was as soft spoken and gracious as could be. Of all the Husker coaches in my lifetime, I always thought Doc and Barry were the most genuine.
  24. To be fair, we have recruited several transfer point guards. None of them are coming here, for whatever reason. The staff apparently doesn’t like any of the realistic options that are left out there. I’m of the mindset that we shouldn’t take a guy just to take a guy.
