  1. To me it sounds like he just got caught doing things most other freshmen in college do. Things that Juwan Gary and Derrick Walker got caught doing and we all think pretty highly of their character and leadership.
  2. Was waiting for this. He really is a perfect fit for our offense. He got cited once for underage drinking and once for weed earlier this year, so was redshirted (suspended).
  3. I believe we've reached out to Sean Pedulla
  4. Pharrel Payne also in the portal now. Bummer for Ben Johnson. Two in-state guys leaving. They were looking to have tourney aspirations next year as nearly their entire rotation could've returned.
  5. He’s got some Derrick Walker to his game.
  6. My guesses would be: Malique Ewin - post player who was at Ole Miss last year and is now at South Plains (they played today). And Tavion Banks who plays for NW Florida St (also played today) and is originally from Kansas City.
  7. So far the only departure that I did have on my way too early depth chart for next year was Blaise. And that’s just because I wasn’t sure if any coach other than Hoiberg would give him a scholarship and honor it at this point, and we’re gonna need a few good locker room guys who are ok with being on the scout team.
  8. No, it's not. So far it's all been expected departures. Just a week ago everyone wanted athletic upgrades at our guard/wing positions. There is no doubt that will happen now.
  9. Curious as to why you think that? If the only reason is that he's a freshman, that's fair. But as far as freshmen go he seems to be pretty well developed and polished. In year 1 he could have a low ceiling, but I think the floor is relatively high. He stopped growing three years ago and does have limited length and athleticism. So he's always relied on his basketball IQ, vision, feel and skill. Those are typically the players that contribute early and stay longer. He did very well in AAU ball against top competition. If he doesn't play much as a freshman I think it'll be because portal recruiting went well and we're just not going to have a rotation that includes more than 8-9 players.
  10. Tony Perkins and Ahron Ulis were roommates at Iowa. The dude is built like an outside linebacker, has good athleticism and diced us up for 15 assists this year. Nebraska fans have recently become enamored with the stature of Texas A&M's guards. Well, he's bigger than all of them.
  11. Jasen Green is gonna end up being a real solid college player. Hopefully for someone other than the school he’s at now.
  12. Reminds me of CJ McCollum. Really like his game.
  13. I don’t know man. The coaches voted him second team all-league. Led the team in assists and steals and he was their only guard who could get into the lane consistently and create. Nebraska has already reached out to him.
  14. Tony Perkins entered the portal. Big loss for Iowa.
  15. Zeke Mayo entered the portal. He's a damn good guard. I'd expect Kansas to get involved. He's from Lawrence.
  16. +1, been saying this, Norm. The overmatched athleticism thing is true, but it's being a bit overblown. Creighton and Clemson are overmatched athletically in just about every Big East/ACC game they play, but they're really good at what they do and make teams play their game. We kinda made A&M play our game. They want to muck it up on both ends in a 40 minute rock fight. We want to increase the pace and get in a three point shooting contest with a team like that and play the efficiency game. 9 games out of 10, that A&M team is not going to make 6 of their first 7 threes in the first 10 minutes of a game. As you said, if they just miss a couple of those and we make some uncontested layups that's a completely different game. They missed 13 freaking free throws in the first 21 minutes against Houston. Sounds horrid, but that's more normal for them than what they did against Nebraska. I'm pretty sure we'll be a bit longer and more athletic next year. But we're still going to focus on just continuing to get better and better at what we do.
  17. From Wisconsin site: Frankie will visit nebraska later this week and Wisconsin this weekend. Moving quickly. Alabama is after him too. Nearly their entire rotation is made up of mid-major transfers.
  18. Frankie’s Instagram post that started some buzz in Lincoln, Omaha and Madison included himself, Chucky and William Kyle. Note that it did not include Dotzler (and there are plenty of photos out there of the four of them). FWIW……
  19. I’ve speculated about potential future lineups all year round, every year for decades and I will not stop now :)
  20. He should move down a level and I’m guessing he won’t have a choice. Georgetown was his only other high major offer out of high school and I don’t think there’s anything he did this year that would make a high major team want to use a scholarship on him.
  21. If Sam Hoiberg transfers anywhere other than somewhere to be on golf scholarship I will be surprised
  22. I think you take Piatkowski regardless of team needs. He was that good and that impactful.
  23. On my way too early depth chart for next year I didn't include Rice. I thought this was to be expected. Assuming Hoiberg gets what he wants in the portal I think Rice was still two years away from being in the rotation. The sky is not falling. If there is a mass exodus from our core rotation the sky might start falling.
