  1. The media loves this Wade Taylor fella. Preseason SEC POY. He shoots a whopping 36% from the field and 31% from three and turns the ball over 3 times a game. Their guards looked great in the SEC tourney because Kentucky doesn’t play any amount of defense. Our team defense could/should cause them problems. Their backcourt will combine for a lot of points, just make it tough on them and make sure they do it inefficiently. If Taylor uses up about 30 possessions to get his 20 points that’s fine by me. We’re gonna have to secure defensive rebounds for sure.
  2. Texas A&M shoots 39% from the field and 28% from three. Defensively they don’t have any rim protectors. I watched them earlier this year and they did not look like a postseason team but they’re hot right now.
  3. I hate the Houston matchup for us. Oh well, let’s freaking do it.
  4. Could northwestern be in more trouble than everything thinks? I saw one bracketologist have them in the last 4 in. Their SOR is good, but all their other metrics are about the same as Ohio State if not worse. And they have that awful quad 4 loss. Worst loss of any at-large team.
  5. The guy on ESPN says there has never been a 1 seed with a non-con SOS as low as theirs and the committee has made it known there never will be
  6. Josh Pastner was just on sportscenter and said we’re the most dangerous under the radar team who can make a run
  7. Scrap this game. I didn’t want to play Illinois because I knew that’s exactly how it would be officiated. A win would’ve been meaningful but the loss is meaningless. I’m glad we’re not playing a third game in three days tomorrow. Mast’s joints need rest and recovery and everyone needs to get healthy and ready for the real tourney.
  8. Yep. Bill Self is the ultimate example. Clueless when it comes to in-game X’s and O’s and just having a feel for the game. And that comes straight (paraphrased) from a former player who loves Self and started a lot of games for him. Calipari would be another example. He stole his dribble drive motion offense from Vance Walberg, then kind of claimed it as his own. But there is no direction in his offense. It’s solely reliant on individual talent making plays off the dribble. Which is probably why his teams chronically underachieve. Fred Hoiberg might not be good or great at some of the things that go into being a head college basketball coach, but he is an offensive genius who has inherent feel and vision that very few have. And that’s why I hope he never leaves. Even when we suck, I love watching the stuff he designs.
  9. True. Some acknowledgment of what we’ve actually done to this point would be nice though
  10. Make that ten double digit conference wins. Margin of victory in those games is nearly 18 points. Nebraska has been the most dominant team in the Big Ten since February 1st. We are smoking teams. Why does BTN never mention this? They couldn’t stop talking about how hot indiana was the past couple weeks. Smoked em, then it was “Meh, Indiana isn’t even an NIT team.” Same with when we played Minnesota. Smoked them too. The sentiment last night was, “Well, Nebraska will lose tomorrow to Illinois but they are fun to watch when Tominaga is shooting threes!”
  11. Right now Lunardi's 10 seeds are: Michigan State (we obviously wouldn't get matched up with them), TCU, Oklahoma and Texas A&M. Mississippi State and Seton Hall would be other potential 10 seeds. Goodness, I hope we get a 7 seed. I've seen all of those teams play and they look about like Rutgers to me. In fact, Rutgers did win @Seton Hall this year.
  12. NET jumped from 37 to 31. Wow. SOR up to 22, one spot behind Wisconsin. Torvik also 22. Washington State’s NET: 45. SOR: 37. Kenpom: 43. Torvik: 40. Etc. Literally all of our metrics are significantly better than theirs. They have one bad loss and we have zero. Their non-con SOS is also poor, so that argument doesn’t work here. Lunardi just moved them from a 5 seed to a 6 seed this morning. Still think the only explanation for them being seeded ahead of us by bracketologists is laziness and they see WSU is ranked in the AP top 25, which means nothing. There are other examples also, like Clemson. I’d really be surprised if we’re in an 8/9 game next week.
  13. Looks like the Ohio State, Wisconsin, Purdue and Illinois fans there are now Nebrasketball fans. This is what the big 12 tournament was like when hoiberg was at Iowa State.
  14. It’s very easy to not foul a stand still three point shooter. I’ll never understand why we do it so much
  15. CJ is not playing well at all on either end
  16. Hummel knows the game but his cadence annoys me. It’s like he’s trying too hard
  17. CJ shouldn’t ever be on Mbako in a BLOB situation
  18. I didn’t want to play Illinois simply because their opponent ALWAYS gets screwed by the officials, especially late in the game. Underwood whines at, screams at and intimidates the refs more than any coach in college basketball and for some reason they don’t T him up and give his team more and more calls in their favor as the game wears on. Every game. His players behave the same way.
  19. Makes a lot of sense, since the previous game ended at like 3:40…
  20. I didn’t watch the semifinal today but Pewaukee won by 20 against a very good team. Norm is gonna like this Janowski stat line. 31 pts, 10 reb, 10 ast, 1 TO, 2 stl. They will match up against Kon Knueppel’s team in the championship for a storybook ending to those two’s middle/high school careers. This would be 4 state titles in a row for Pewaukee. Prior to Nick’s freshman year they hadn’t won one ever. Wisconsin high school basketball is the real deal. Edit: Articles out there say he scored 28 points but the box score I read showed 31. I don’t know, doesn’t matter.
  21. Some really good jobs are available. Will be interesting.
  22. I was considering having them as my national champion in my bracket until this debacle
  23. Was hoping they’d keep him. They’d have been even worse next year.
  24. They say it’s hard to beat a team for the third time in the same year. Is there any data to back that up or is that just something people say?
