2023 PG Simeon Wilcher -> UNC->St John
millerhusker replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
It is a legit question. Who knows. But I don't think any of the players that Pitino threw under the bus in the press conference play Wilcher's position. They were all wings and bigs. Pitino handpicked a bunch of 4th and 5th year portal guards and brought some along from his previous school. Maybe Wilcher is in the doghouse for whatever reason. By all accounts the Wilchers are good people and CJ would make him put his head down and go to work. -
William Kyle would be a great Josiah Allick replacement

2023 PG Simeon Wilcher -> UNC->St John

Take him in a heartbeat. He was the MVP of the EYBL Peach Jam, an event full of 5-star future lottery picks. Besides all that, just watching his film he was my favorite PG of that class. Tenacious defender with length and quickness. -
uneblinst's postgame chatter: vol 16; ed 26 - Penn St

I actually appreciate his demeanor on the bench. He's always cheering on teammates. It could've very well been a situation where the old guy who has been a starter his whole career gets disgruntled and causes locker room issues after losing playing time. But doesn't seem to be the case here. Props to Boogie. -
That roster is kinda stacked with talent

Yep

Cookie is still one of the best perimeter defenders in the history of college basketball -
Anderson said he inadvertently blew his whistle. So jump ball, possession arrow Iowa is the right call apparently. What’s odd is the other ref hadn’t even handed the ball to the inbounds passer yet, so I’m not sure an inadvertent whistle even matters there.

Coach is dialed the **** in. Can sense something special on the horizon. -
The committee’s top 16 seeds are out. Purdue has an incredible resume. They beat a 1 seed (Arizona) on a neutral court. Beat two 2 seeds (Marquette and Tennessee) on neutral courts. Beat a 3 seed (Alabama) on a neutral court. And two 4 seeds (Illinois and Wisconsin) in conference play. Also beat Gonzaga and Xavier on neutral courts. Two losses on the year. One to northwestern in overtime. Then, on Jan. 9 they got handled by Nebraska in a 16 point loss.

Juwan isn’t playing with much intensity. Need him and Allick to match Penn state’s physicality -
I’ll be shocked if we don’t go get a portal post player

I agree

Watched their game against Michigan State last night. They play an ugly brand of basketball and will yell/whine at the officials after every call that doesn’t go their way. Similar to Rutgers. Glad we don’t play them at their place this year. -

One of many small town Kansas natives to leave a huge mark on the game of basketball -
We definitely have to take care of business down the stretch and an earn a bid. But say there are 12 teams who have good enough resumes for the last few at-large spots. I absolutely think those things mentioned help us out. There are tens of millions of basketball fans in Japan. They’d all be watching and the NCAA knows that.

To turn it around, I think what Matar might lack that Anderson seems to have is good body control and coordination.
-
Yep, contrary to what some think, the powers that be will look for any good reason to include Nebraska in March madness this year. Entertaining guards on potential Cinderellas are what creates the madness in March. The storylines of Tominaga, Hoiberg and Nebraska never winning a tourney game all work in our favor. Having one of the better fan bases in college sports probably helps too. We still have to take care of business down the stretch.

Would be real nice if their whole team mailed it in the rest of the way. Sometimes it goes in the opposite direction and they rally around each other and fight like hell in the remaining games.
-
Gotta feel for the officials sometimes, man. They get 95% of calls correct. But everyone hates them and the coaches get to say things to them no grown man would say to another person in any other setting then go cry victim to the media while the refs can't retaliate or defend themselves whatsoever. They are like Batman.
-
I get it but there's no excuse imo. Tony Bennett's and Chris Beard's packline style defenses could also make it more difficult for their players to consistently block out. But you'll always see their players find an opponent to collide with when a shot goes up. It's a mindset deal. We have guys stand and watch way too often, sometimes even on free throw attempts.

Self was screaming, "You're chicken sh**!" and "That's F****** chicken sh**!" all game long at the official. Then looked reporters right in the eye after the game and said, "I didn't yell or curse at them."
-
I prefer our offense to Wake's. But they have 7 guys who are really talented individual offensive players and can go get their own shot on any given possession.

I’d love to get a crack at Kansas, if they were to get by Green Bay… That’s a big if this year. Eastern Illinois and Yale both had Kansas on the ropes in Allen Fieldhouse earlier this year. When Kansas was fully healthy.
