  1. They are good seats...and that is where I will be as well
  2. How do other women's teams approach the walk-on process? Is the Husker method unique? I truly do not know, so I am just asking. I just went and checked and the huskers do have 13 scholarships filled if you include Maggie. Sooo. Injuries happen, I don't believe you can blame those on the coaches. I mean Jaz simply rolled her ankle. Right?
  3. We had a discussion on the walk-on topic last night at the game. The men's team leverages walk-ons to run scout team and sometimes one or more of those walk-ons get playing time (Sam Hoiberg). Instead of walk-ons, the ladies have a stable of young men that they practice against. So the need for walk-on players does not exist. I am not sure that is a correct assumption; but it seems to make some sense. That said, the lack of a full roster really bites when the injuries hit.
  4. Offense struggled all night. No rhythm/continuity. Defense played well. No issues jump out. We handled pressure okay, but it may have created issues getting into the flow of the offense. Rebounded pretty well. Hustled pretty well. Good free throw shooting. Good to have Keisei back, but no way he was 100%. Finally got it going late. Half of those who played struggled. The good news is the other half sort of picked them up. Rider was a decent team. We played through the offensive struggles for a win.
  5. Hope they get to sit by me.
  6. I wonder if this will allow him to move to Lincoln?
  7. Holy cow...
  8. Pretty good way of looking at it. Hopefully the crispness will arrive sooner rather than later.
  9. A bit of a trap game so to speak; but Us 81 Them 61
  10. I thought the same thing. That said, I thought she called a good game. If I'm not mistaken, she called the block and insuing technical on the Rider player. The block call looked legit. She was starting to make the call and her head jerked around...I assumed the player used a "magic" word at that moment. On offense, it looked sort of like we hadn't practiced in awhile. Spacing looked decent for the most part. We went from hero ball, to quick shots, to forced shots and then forced passes often. I will opt to look at the glass being half full. Most of the mistakes can be used as teachable moments. The team needs to be good students.

  12. Yeah, this should be a more competitive game tonight. They have a couple good players, but seem to lack depth. I sure hope we pull away at the end...
  13. Matar is going to be a project and yes, a redshirt year would have helped him and the team in the future. It will be interesting to see if he can help later this season. I guess it depends on his retention and performance. Not only Gary is coming back; but we may eventually get Blaise back as well. So...he either keeps improving or he will be doing a lot more sitting than playing. He is one athletic dude; yet we all know pure athleticism is different than basketball athleticism. Back to Blaise, Matar and Gary. We seem to have really performed well in the five-out offense that Fred runs. I believe Gary fits well. Blaise and Diop have to prove they can perform in it as well. Matar's four fouls in five minutes [struggling setting legal screens] gives me pause...
  14. I have been watching this team for a lotttt of years. This offense is inept. Is it the play calls? The players? The scheme? Is it in their heads? Is it the preparation? Is it a thousand other possibilities? Probably all of the above and then some. We can run a couple good plays in a row and then simply disintegrate. Unbelievable!!! We have zero identity. We can not find separation with our receiving corp. We throw to the wrong uniform colors. This simply is impossible to comprehend. I am just a tad steamed!
  15. That was great. Thank you!
  16. 19 point win. Good defense; but let's just call it a choppy performance.
  17. Slowwwww start.
  18. I think you look at transfers or juco bigs. They tend to be a bit more battle tested and you sort of know what they can do at a higher level than high-school. Oftentimes a big in high school plays against smaller or lesser competition.
  19. I have a somewhat sophomoric view of our defense. It looks like a combination of man-to-man and zone trapping. Sort of forces an opposing team to speed up their offense and take a shot when they get an open look. It looks different and seems to catch a lot of offenses off guard. Not sure why.
  20. Agree...sort of goes hand-in-hand with watching UNL cringe under the pressure of major budget cuts; yet we seemingly have the donations and funding to put a half-billion dollars into a Memorial stadium renovation. I am a bit ashamed to admit that I favor that renovation. Equally, I am not opposed to paying high salaries to coaches and players IF exceptional results follow. At Nebraska pay has not equaled wins. I guess with Self, they have.
  21. I was always taught that a moving screen, more often than not, was the fault of the player coming off the screen. Last night, we had the moving screen called multiple times. Yes, Matar likely contributed; but my guess is that it will be emphasized in film study and practice over the next couple days. Sheesh, screens are heavily relied upon in our offense, so we better get it down. [Last year we made it look artistic with Keisei and DW].
  22. Small error, the game is not at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln
