Jan 10, Tupper vs Chandler @ Omaha Central, 7:30pm
Huskerpapa replied to basketballjones's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I am interested as well. We have had at least two "bigs" who are seniors this year get scholies from Division I schools. In addition to Chandler, the Norfolk kid got one from Cal State-Davis. (I guess that is Division I basketball). I am wondering if Topper has that potential as well. I am told the kid has come a long way. As a matter of interest, I also found it strange that he didn't do anything against Central in the transition game. I had heard that was a part of his game. -
Heck, a portion of our crowd does not like the HUSKER POWER chant during the opposing team introduction. We are just not nice

We can have a yell squad as long as they don't tumble and so forth... http://peninsulaclarion.com/stories/082002/spo_082002spo0040001.shtml#.WHZvhtIzV9M http://caselaw.findlaw.com/ne-supreme-court/1267421.html

I personally have them near the top, but as Jon mentions and I agree 100%, I'd put them up against anybody! -
HHCC Game #17 - at Michigan (Jan. 14, 1:00 PM CST)

Ed is out... Huskers 70 Michigan 75 -
There are a number of us who believe exactly what you are preaching brother...but we are the diehards, who are there thick and thin. I am the one yelling BRICK during an opposing free throw and being hushed by someone an aisle over. The problem though, and you cannot discount this, is that there are a number of people in the stands that are not of our ilk. They need stimuli to react to. We want those fans at the game but to motivate them out of their seats is difficult at best. Guess what, they are not the ones reading Husker Hoops Central either, so what we say or wish for is not reaching that audience. I have a friend who professes to be a husker fan, who says he would rather stay home and watch the game in comfort without the parking problems or bad/expensive foods. Well, good for him. But others wish for the game time experience, but for whatever reason, wishes not to be a participant. Hard to figure.

How long ago was the Oklahoma State crash. There have been many, but Oklahoma State and Marshall are the two incidents that come to mind. Then of course was the Brazilian soccer team crash this past year.

When is the last time we had a protypcial PF?

I don't believe Walt was our answer at PF, but we seem to have a couple who now tend to fit the mold. -
A look at Nebrasketball's 2017-2018 Roster
Huskerpapa replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Are the coaches still recruiting for 2017? If so, the roster is still not set for next season. -
I am so glad that Donkey is no longer an a**

I would to. -
Gauging a crowd is difficult in my estimation. We tend to be sort of an artsy community here in Lincoln. People put on their proper clothes, depending on the venue, leisurely appear at the venue, sit down and expect to be entertained. One would think that given our hearty nature, that on occasion, we would appreciate the opportunity to participate in the event. Well, like in football, volleyball or any other Nebraska event (and yes, I am including Creighton folks) the only way to get full participation, is to provide a grandiose product that forces participation. The Iowa game provided that stimuli. As did that two minute run prior to end of the half against Northwestern. Otherwise, patrons were simply willing to sit back and be entertained. Sort of like attending an event in Augusta.

Big team...but then again, who isn't big in this conference. -
I imagine fear of flying will take on a new meeting with Barry and the Butler team.

Thought I would place this topic here...but that was a heck of a game last night. Happy for Dabo. I still recall Bo vs Dabo in their first years at the bowl game. I was impressed with him then, and I remain impressed with him. Great defenses and the better offense shined through. Man, there were some hits in that game.

...let's say we have on open scholarship for this upcoming recruiting cycle. What position is should we be focusing on? I vote PG. We will have Glynn and Evan for next season, but who knows about the next?
-
He certainly has some very good qualities. He doesn't seem very quick though. Maybe it was just the tape. He also lacks explosion. Much depends on what you are looking for in a PG.

I, for one, was part of the problem. It wasn't apathy, it was sickness. I gutted the game out, but provided no energy. As for the remainder of the crowd, Kent and Matt were right. The Nebraska crowd has to be energized by the team, not vice versa. I wish that wasn't the case, but I have long stated Nebraska fans tend to be bandwagon jumpers. I firmly believe that is why we lost some Husker basketball fans in Omaha to Creighton (my sister and brother-in-law are two that come to mind)
-
We were certainly a tired team. It was noticed on both offense and defense. Perhaps a bigger concern was that Northwestern provided a good blueprint on how to stop our guards. I am hoping that it was more our tired legs than Northwesterns defense that affected us.

Any projection on a starting line up for next year is WAY to premature. I do believe Copeland reminds me a bit of Walt.
