People react to tough questions in unique ways. Many people go through their entire life, not having to give a deposition, or partake in a television or print interview. Heck, job interviews are harrowing enough. Coach Miles seems to always use humor or sarcasm when faced with unique questions. That is sort of what has made him a well liked interview, and what seemed to turn on many Nebraskans. So to learn that during a podcast he answered a question in a sarcastic or humorous manner should be of no surprise. Was it tasteful, perhaps not. But again, why beat up on the man.

While working out today, I endured an hour of that conversation watching "Get Up" while on the elliptical. Between that, and their NBA fetish, I am becoming a bigger fan of FS1.

Much will likely depend on who the coach is next year, don't you think? I remember Doc basically re-recruiting Maric when he took over for Barry. If Coach Miles leaves, and Isaiah graduates, he pretty much can write his own ticket. Most programs would salivate at the idea of picking him up for a year. That said, I am still betting he will be back.

I guess I brought his name to the table because somebody had brought it up to me in a conversation during a workout. I am not 100% sure he will be a great head coach, but he seems to have the pedigree. He played and was a grad assistant under Bobby Knight. During his tenure at Butler the Bulldogs made four postseason appearances, including three NCAA Tournaments. In each of the three NCAA appearances, the Bulldogs won at least one NCAA game, including wins over Texas (2015) and Texas Tech (2016). He was also part of a Butler program which orchestrated the fourth-best win improvement in Big East history in 2014-15. He seems to have had a lot of success recruiting at Nebraska and is sort of front and center on a number of our commitments. I tend to think of him more as a fall-back candidate and I would much rather take a flyer on him rather than another mid-major head coach. This of course is dependent upon whether or not Coach Miles is retained/extended.

Oh good lord. Certainly bad news all around. Here is an article on the incident: https://www.syracuse.com/crime/2019/02/syracuse-coach-jim-boeheim-hits-kills-man-walking-on-i-690.html

I am actually thinking that if we won one, it would be a positive series. But I guess if we want to be considered a contender on a national level, we should, at the very least, find a way to split these four games.

This is Why I Don't Like Adidas...

I have watched the event involving Zion, but still am unable to discern if the blown shoe directly led to the injury. If it was the shoe...could there be a civil case in the near future? -
I have no issue with Kent's tweet. He has every right to be as descriptive or cryptic as his contract allows. He has been unfairly bounced from his broadcasting position once before, so he likely understands ramifications of his actions.

Sort of how we have been looking without Cope. I am not attempting to be mean spirited. We were starting to look discombobulated with Cope, but since he has been out, we have been searching for our offense without much success.

The thing is, you cannot think about going 4-0. You cannot think beyond the next game. You have to treat Saturday's game like it is the most important game of the season, because it is. -

Note that Thor's shot is certainly a work in progress, as is Amir's. Both can take it to the rim, but both really need to reinvent their outside game this coming off-season. -
There is a need to reiterate the fact that Coach Miles IS a good coach. He would not have worked up to this level in the business if he was not a good coach. He was in fact, coach of the year just a couple years ago. He is well respected by his peers and he will not be unemployed long, once he leaves Nebraska. It simply isn't working out at this point. There are a number of reasons or perhaps excuses why, but it does appear the end is near in the Miles/Nebraska relationship. There is absolutely no reason or excuse to bash him, denigrate him or to create issues that aren't real issues. Goodness, he respects the university and has publicly said good things about our Director of Athletics. Nebraskans are supposed to have class, perhaps we should exhibit some of that class as this season winds down.

We lack toughness. We struggle overcoming any type of adversity.

Just a few thoughts leaking from my damaged brain... - you can be physical without being tough. Toughness wins. - you can play hard without playing smart. - passing up a good shot is as egregious as taking a bad shot - scoring a lot does not make you a great shooter - rebounding is more about effort and positioning and less about size - diving after loose balls and sprinting down the court actually makes you cool - if you have bad habits and then practice those bad habits, no matter how hard you practice them, will not create good habits - free throw shooting is about form and focus, and focus may be the more important aspect - reality can sometimes suck, but you still have to face it - true character comes to those that do not turn their backs on the tasks in front of them. So there you have it.

Names are important, but you need to land a superstar that can grade high on all levels of need. What are the requirements/needs of the next Husker basketball coach? * Needs to have a budget to hire/retain exceptional assistant coaches. Coaches who leave here should be head coaching hires, not lateral moves to another institution * Needs to have a high offensive mind IQ. Needs to be able teach offensive and develop offensive talent * Recruit. We need to recruit at home; but also have "ins" within the fertile recruiting areas of the upper Midwest and East-coast * It is important to relate to the Husker fan base. We certainly are not spoiled by our basketball success. He needs to win and he needs to stay in touch with the fans What else? I do not think we can afford to go the mid-major route again. We need a veteran coach who can quickly get us and keep us on track.

We played about as poorly as a team can play. I was more than upset. Now, I am once again just sad. I feel bad for the team. Yeah, they played like crap, but hey, they are our team. Things have to change, I will keep it as simple as that. I will not hate on anyone...but things have to change. -

...and in other news, the Padres sign Machado to a $300 million contract. Let that resonate for a bit.
