  1. Question. Can a walk-on receive a NIL deal? Ummm, say you don't have a "scholarship" but we can provide you with a one year NIL deal that is worldly. I know, I know, the school cannot (wink-wink) provide the deal...but will something like that provide (cough) a new age end run? Ummm, just asking.
  2. Just wanted to toss this into the discussion. Let's not forget Trey! When healthy last year, he was a dogged defender and would fight on the boards. I am still hoping he returns, but if he doesn't, it sounds like Juwan will be a stouter version.
  3. Just read a tweet from Parker Gabriel indicating he was leaving the Lincoln Journal Star. He did a good job and will be missed. No additional details were provided other than to see future opportunities would be disclosed later. Good luck moving forward Parker!
  4. Watched him play a number of games for North Star. Had talent.
  5. We are sort of sleeping on McPherson as well. He came in as a PG recruit. I have to believe that he will compete for PG playing time.
  6. Same as I have always wanted. I haven't missed a home game since 1984 and have attended since 1974. I cheered at the Coliseum, Devaney and PBA. I am alive with every win, cried like a baby after beating teams like KU and Wisconsin and die a little with every disappointment. I want to win. I want players who prove it on the court. I have the same expectation for this kid as all the kids. We have a lot of coaches who didn't allow players to talk until they played. So there is a bit of crumogeon attitude in my head. I want to see you perform...then you can talk. I know that is naive, but there is an answer to your question.
  7. Lol...that was Doc's recruiting philosophy. I need to find that quote as your take is pretty spot on. I think it was something close to --- I want to recruit players that will hustle and defend, I can teach shooting.
  8. Please note, I personally am not disappointed with this addition. If he turns out to be our glue player that can turn close games into wins, I will be downright giddy. What I am shying away from is the hyperbole that has then been followed by subpar performance. We have (what appears to be) a good class coming in. But the newcomers haven't done diddly squat for us YET. I look forward to this coming year, but don't tell us how great thou art...show us -please!
  9. I haven't seen or heard anything official. We have access to limited video and I personally thought he was not 100%. That said, he was on the floor helping his team. Reading his history and how he worked on his game once he made it to Kansas, leads me to believe that once he hooks up with our nutritional and weight staff, he will improve exponentially. He also will have pretty decent role models in DW and Briedenbach. We shall see.
  10. Yes it is the offseason; but talking isn't the only thing he can do. What he and all players can do, is work on their games...polish their strengths improve upon their weaknesses and then let their actions on the court do their talking. I guess that is what may separate generations. Confidence can be displayed in many ways; but when it is simply verbalized, then perception is in the eye of the beholder.
  11. Okay then...time to go onto the court and prove your talent. Just to refresh...I personally want a player, not a talker. I will love him if he busts his butt on the floor and HELPS us produce wins.
  12. I went to see Snoop Dogg last night so while reading through this subject my mind got a bit foggy. Are we talking about Juwan Gary or Shamiel Stevenson, Jr. ???
  13. Some of my friends have been told that size doesn't matter. I guess it is being able to do the little things that matter most.
  14. With Ivory leaving, they are going to need him.
  15. I don't necessarily disagree; however, the player or players must be a threat to score otherwise our scorer's will see a plethora of double teams and gimmick defenses. It does sound as if this dude has some offensive skill though...but we do have to be careful as to what we wish for.
  16. Thank the good lord.
  17. Yes, prior to last season Doc was demoted/reassigned to the role that Bobby Lutz had held and Coach Loenser was hired to backfill Doc's old assistant coaching role. Shoot, I am shocked that everyone on this site seemed unaware of that change.
  18. Happy triple holiday.
  19. Interesting interview appearing in the LJS today. It sort of left readers hanging though. I guess that could mean fodder for conjecture. A couple sure things...Doc did not coach the defense this past season; and Doc reallly wants to continue coaching. Some conjecture-right, wrong or otherwise: * he didn't like his role last year * parting was likely mutuality agreed upon, maybe facilitated by role limitations. * perhaps the staff did not all get along. * perhaps Doc voiced opinions that were met uhhh with a bit of distain * Doc felt the team had too many offensive primadana's. * Doc felt our point guard and lack of a big man precluded us from competing in this conference He has a man crush on Self and his way of handling a team (then again, I sort of do as well). His insight about the league differences seem spot on. Oh well, see what you think. https://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/steven-m-sipple-an-exit-interview-with-doc-sadler-who-contemplates-possible-nba-future/article_0e80bdd0-bbab-524d-88b2-f0e892faacc2.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=email&utm_campaign=user-share
  20. Nice overall (grade) of Roby's season: https://www.si.com/nba/thunder/news/thunder-end-of-season-report-card-isaiah-roby
  21. Lol...not trying to be a contrarian; but what is Lincoln/Nebraska missing that leads some to say we have nothing else to do but attend sporting events? Seriously? We do not have professional sports...I will give everyone that one. Although, depending on your community, there are professional sports within a one day, or less diving distance. But we do have a plethora of outdoor activities that most places don't have. We have bars, arts, various museums, concerts, plays, musicals, restaurants, zoo's and more. I believe we sell ourselves short. Oh yeah, we also have a little elbow room and Lincoln is pretty safe. Okay, I will step off the soapbox now.
  22. Someone's perspective of the various conference recruiting classes: https://www.news-gazette.com/sports/breaking-down-2022-big-ten-recruiting-classes/article_f8edde36-5660-547b-8e30-645543a93423.html
  23. My expectation is to make it to the NCAA tournament. Do I believe we have a prayer...lol. But hey, stranger things have happened. The Miles run to the tournament was a shocker, and that made it all the more enjoyable.
  24. The good programs need not recruit; the good players tend to gravitate towards them. Most of these players will play together on summer teams and so forth. But yeah, certain schools do tend to "find" talent.
