Jamarques Lawrence named B1G Freshman of the Week
Huskerpapa replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Well deserved...his future seems bright. -
Went to Civic auditorium way back when to see Peter Frampton in concert. Gary Wright was his opening act. Once he got through Dream Weaver, he went downhill fast drawing more than a smattering of boos. I don't remember how, but my group was right in front of the stage and speaker. My hearing has never recovered. I also remember seeing a lot of (ahem) female flesh that was directed to the main act.

40 degree rule. At or over, I will be watching some baseball. Under, I stay home. Applies for golf as well. For whatever reason, it does not apply to football. -
I sort of brought this up in another thread. It is sort of amazing how our identity has changed given the injuries to Bando, Gary and Blaise; the virtual disappearance of Dawson and lest we forget, the loss of McPherson in the preseason. I was critical of our staff over the last few years; but their collective work this year is second to none. But to answer the question, I don't know. We may not have seen the emergence of Lawrence. We certainly wouldn't have seen Sam H on the floor. I question whether we would have seen Keisei emerge as significantly as he did. But we very well could have reached or exceeded our current record. We were just starting to find ourselves when the injury bug slammed us. I guess we will never know. Arguably going into the first practice, our two deep likely looked like this: PG - Sam G & McPherson SG - Bando & Keisei W. - CJ & Dawson PF - Gary & Wilhelm C. - DW & Blaise That is a lot of change in less than 6 months.

HHCC Game #32 - neut. Minnesota (Mar. 8, 8:00 PM CST)

Us 79 Them 71 2 -
Perhaps our most costly win, as we lost Blaise to a nasty high ankle injury that continues to linger. (And yes, the injuries to Bando and Gary were more costly - but simply humor me for a moment). And oh by the way, we also lost another role player in the preseason to a knee injury. Yet, it would seem, none of these injuries that we have overcome are factored into our rating? I cannot definitely state this, but there are few if any other teams out there that overcame this many significant injuries and came out the other side with a winning record. Just saying...

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 15, ed 31: at Iowa
Huskerpapa replied to HuskerFever's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
From the Iowa Gazette Yet, who loses when they get 21 more field goal attempts than their opponent, or has 21 offensive rebounds? Or steals the ball 12 times and only has it stolen once? On top of taking 17 free throws to the foe’s eight? Who loses after turning the ball over just six times while forcing 15 miscues, while scoring 21 points off turnovers while allowing only 10, while getting 31 second-chance points to the other team’s 11? Hey...who dat...dat is IOWA!!!! -
If so, will the committee also have the wisdom of providing us one or more home games, given our crowd sizes?

I am going to say the following; but I do not want it to come across as disrespectful or malicious in any manner, so here goes. With Bando and Gary we were a defense oriented team that played at a slower pace. One could have even said we were a poor shooting team. With the injuries, we adjusted our game and have somehow become a faster tempo team that actually has a well rounded offense that can score in the paint and on the perimeter. All while maintaining the strong team culture, pesky defense and comraderie. Great leadership and coaching adjustments! But still, how does that happen 2/5ths the way through a season with a staff supposedly on the hot seat. Wow -

And what he said was a fact, and not at all negative. Mr. Whiny pants was just being a McCaffrey. -

Throughout the game I had issues with play of two or three players. Yet at games end, all of the players stepped forward in one way or another. Proud of the effort and giddy withe results. I wonder if Keisei was hurting a bit today? He sort of looked sluggish is the second half. -
