I'm really not trying to be a hater here, because I know how bad we need a big body down low. I really don't like how loose the ball is when he catches it. I would really like to see some strong hands on whoever we get down there. Is it just me that sees this?

I like this, we are going to see what next year will be like. I truly feel Shields is the heart and soul of the team, but getting a feel of what next year will be like will be fun and beneficial

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 8, Issue 23 - Maryland

Kugler needs to step up for his home team and quit letting that other announcer homer call everything!!! Dodds "AMAZING" block on Jacobson was one of the most blatant fouls I have ever seen! Damn near knocked Jacobson out of bounds. Almost had a heart attack after that non call That out of bounds play where the refs looked at the monitor when it was 66-61 was no doubt our ball. Watch the trajectory of the ball. No doubt it was off of Dodds. Once again Kugler step up! Where was Morrow this game? Shields is a good basketball player that tries to take to much on himself and hurts the team at times because of it. We need a big for defensive purposes, we get killed down low White's last shot should not have been taken, it wasn't there All in all I am very disappointed we lost that game, and unlike a lot of you I was expecting a W in this game. Close doesn't mean jack squat, and am getting sick of losing. Lastly, burn me at the stake if you want, but I am on the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to officials. Did we still have opportunities to win at the end of these games, yes,. The timing of these calls/non calls have a big part of the outcome of a game. Jacobson should of been shooting 2 free throws(Tied 57-57, See 2nd bullet point) but instead Marylands following possession Trimble get 2 for a lot less contact. He missed one, but in that big moment(Tie Game) the Refs gave them the potential 4 point swing. I won't even start in on the Technical on Miles. It may not seem like it matters, because we still had opportunities to win at the end. Just stating that everything counts, and when the calls favor the visiting team it is not fair, and it really pisses me off! -
Alex Olah has got to be feeling real good about things right now. They are 0-4 since his return, and the last 2 games, they have been blown out of the gym. There was a post earlier this year after they beat us that said "Are you rooting for Northwestern to make the dance". I responded with a solid "Hell NO". We are not going to be the only team that doesn't have a tourney win from a P5 school. I just don't want that title, sorry guys! So this 4 game skid makes me REAL happy!

Shoot 30+ 3's and make 50%. Not quite sure Shields normal style is gonna work in this game. I hope I'm wrong, but there are some Red Wood trees around their hoop
-
Looking at the game again, the game was lost when Shields missed the front end of the one and one... they got the rebound and dunked it... That was a 4 point swing so instead of him making it a one possession game at 68-66 it ended up being 70-64. That was the game changer with 2 minutes left in the game. No way will I complain about Shields, because he almost single handily won us the game at Mich St.. This just goes to show how close we actually are to being a "great" team and not just good. We were a missed free through away from possibly winning 5 in a row. On to Purdue... People say that they are going to kill us, because of the miss match down low. We also have the mismatch on speed. I predict White has a HUGE game... talking 30+
-
I don't know how that is possible, but 8 minutes into the 2nd half Michigan was shooting 81%. How the hell you suppose to keep up with that. Listen to the game the commentator even says that. Nebraska basketball is getting fun to watch, and there are going to be games like that one, but there aren't many teams that can win when the opponent is shooting 81%. You take away the start of both halves we outplayed them.
-
Our RPI is around 150... That is not good. Even if we win our next 3 it won't be higher than 80. How shitty is that!

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 8, Issue 18 - vs Minnesota
big red22 replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
What are you talking about? I'm telling you right now Morrow is probably the biggest key to why we are starting to look better. Decent isn't going 9 out of 10... that is called GOOD. Those drives that have been driving me crazy that Shavon and Tai dribble into the lane and fire it up through 3 defenders... They are now turning into what they should of been all year. They are now finding a wide open Morrow for for the easy buckets. Disagree all you want, but in my eyes Morrow play has been the difference. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jacobson is playing better too! He is playing much more aggressive, and it is good to see Watson is a game changing PG, and his vision is absolutely amazing Shields shooting 10 times instead of 20+ is a good thing, and he still is getting his points. I believe he is now starting to trust his teammates more, and it is beneficial to the whole team because of it. McViegh is a smart basketball player, but needs to to be more aware of his surroundings. Got picked for behind twice against Minnesota. White is just consistent, he had an off night and still score 15 Tai is looking better and made some decisions that he has lacked earlier in his time here. Nice to see Benny is Benny. He can provide a spark when needed, and that is what we need him for. Fuller and Hammond are becoming the odd men out. Sorry guys Evelyn and the bench looked like players that haven't seen much time this year, but Evelyn shows flashes -
THis is my greatest fear, and my biggest frustration with this year. So my answer is Nope
-
I truly feel he played like crap in the game against Iowa, and obviously everyone will disagree with me because of his stat line. His decision making was absolutely horrible in that game and drove me absolutely crazy! It kind of is similar to how I disagree with so many people about AI. His stat sheet was fantastic, his play hurts the team
-
In fairness, I did look these over fairly well after the Iowa game (which seemed to help Tai as much as anyone!). In 2014-15: [Nick was at 38% but he didn't have enough attempts!] Tarin was at 33% Terran was at 31% Benny & Walter were at 29% but Parker slightly ahead of Pitch And, last but not least, stats for this season: AW-III is at 42% Benny & Tai are 39% but Parker just barely tops Webster Shavon at 31% Glynn at 29% May I ask why you completely left off Jack McVeigh who is 2% behind Webster and Parker at 37%

Takes from the game... ***I know this is just wrong, but Iowa may have the weirdest looking dudes I've ever seen on one basketball team. - Morrow needs to be fed the ball more - I'm just waiting for the game where is just clicks for Watson. I have a feeling it will be this year. When it does look out! - One of the biggest things I've noticed this game was towards the very end. Shields was driving and made the extra pass which I've been dying to see him do! Jacobson was just getting ready for the board when it came his way. That is a bad sign. Shields has been too selfish at the end of games so other players aren't ready for the pass, and just trying to get in position for the board. - I don't care about Tai's numbers tonight, his decision making leaves me scratching my head. He came down on a fast break in the second half and had a wide open Morrow in the post and he pulled back and then drove in. He made the "Contested" basket, but I was sooooo pissed that he didn't make the pass to Morrow. - White had an off game, and it came at the wrong time - Shields went 0-4 from the line <- CAN'T HAPPEN!!! - McVeigh is going to be good! He missed some open 3's tonight, but what he does with the ball is pretty good for a guy who is 6'8 - Nothing I have seen out of Jacobson leads me to believe he deserves more minutes than Morrow. He deserves to play some minutes, I'm just not sure he deserves as much as he is getting. Also why the hell not Play them at the same time? Morrow at the 4 and Jacobson at the 5? - Shoot me if you want, but I just don't like Parker getting the minutes he is getting. Points or no points he is not that good guys. - We have 3 Freshman and a Sophomore playing the post positions for us, not going to flip if we don't do great this year. I want to see at least a couple of wins though, I just can't take this much of Nebraska Men's sports sucking. It's not good on the heart - Last thing If you can't make a shot in 12 attempts you aren't going to win many games -
We have to change how we are using Ed Morrow
big red22 replied to big red22's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
You want Miles to play Morrow at the 4 like Pardon but Pardon wasn't playing the 4 yesterday...he and Van Zegeren were playing the 5. Pardon looked like a million bucks because he hasn't been injured, hasn't been worn down playing, and we didn't have much of a true 5 to throw at him. Having to grind against Diamond Stone next game should bring him back down to earth. At what point are you watching Morrow and thinking "Boy, let's run some offense around him" as opposed to just thinking he has to be better because he was in high school? Sure we could run him at the 4 so he would pick up less fouls but then what exactly is he going to bring at the offensive end that compels you to do that? I don't think he's above Benny in terms of offensive firepower at the moment. The point is he played against Jahlil Okafor and scored 18 <- I don't care that it was in high school he was 6'11 then too. Fine he is injured, I get it. That is not why he is completely useless right now. Miles is using him wrong, and the look... the feel.. the production... an the stats all prove my point If he is indeed injured that bad... then sit his ass till he is better! -

http://illinois.247sports.com/Board/12/Contents/The-Intrigue-of-Simeons-Ed-Morrow-27567744 How was he able to handle Cliff Alexander and Jahlil Okafor in high school and now he can't even defend Creighton's Giraffe Gazell<- isn't that his name? or a middle of the road 6'8 True Freshman (Dererk Pardon) Miles has got to change his philosophy if he wants to succeed with these new guys! -

big red22 replied to big red22's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
And that comment leads me to my next tirade. If I was Morrow I would be scootin right on out of here. You adjust to what your best players are. I think McVeigh and Jacobson are solid players, but they don't have the upside Morrow does. Change what needs changed for the better of the team. Our style has got to change, or we won't be getting any good big man soon. I would love to land this Elijah Thomas, but he would also fail in this system if Miles doesn't change it. Ed Morrow worked Elijah Thomas in high school, I'm sure Thomas remembers that and sees how he(Morrow) is struggling in this offense! -
We should be seeing games that Derek Pardon had from him. He has all the athletic ability in the world, but looks completely lost right now. I sure hope Morrow looks at this game as a learning experience. Pardon is a true freshman as well, and was not as highly sought after. This one to me falls directly on Miles, and not playing him at his true position. I think some of you may think I'm crazy, but we need to see him at the 4. That may involve moving Shields/White to the 2 or not being on the court at the same time. Make the right change Miles!

How many wins do we need to get to the CBI
big red22 replied to PimpMario's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
People were saying the same shit when we were 8-8 and 0-4 in conference play 2 years ago when we made the run to the NCAA tournament. Losing to Samford sucked donkey B@lls, but if we start conference play 5-1 (Which is possible) people will be talking NCAA again. This team is as talented as we have had in a long time, and a little confidence is what I think these guys need... 2-0 10-5 doesn't look all that bad and our young guys will have built some confidence. We go 0-2 to start conference play, the feeling will not be good around here or on the team. Anything can happen, and I won't be saying we are out of anything unless we are officially ruled out, after the conference tournament
