I bitch about the the free throws all the time, but I tend to agree that it is because we settle for jumpers. All teams have to do is crowd the lane so our main guys can't drive, and if we can't find shooters our team is very easy to defend. Why are so many against letting Smith and Fuller shoot more. Basketball is a game of runs. Lets see if one of them can get hot. It does seem Miles is trying to get them more involved. I would love nothing more than Tai to stop settling for 3's. He is one of our best defenders though. Watching him at the end of the Wisconsin game was fun to watch! He has strengths, but his head gets in the way a lot.

Morrow may not be 6'9 but he is definitely a post threat

Thank you! I love Miles, and I definitely think he is a coach that should be here for the long hall. With that said I also believe he needs to allow other to score. Why are others passing up shots? Sometimes I feel like Shields and Petteway are the Italians in Kicking and Screaming Once again, it isn't that these guys aren't allowed to take shots. If you've ever listened to Miles press conferences, he's very vocal about everyone scoring. These guys are CHOOSING to pass up some of these shots that they should be taking. At the end of the Iowa game a week and half ago(I think this is the game). There was a play that I almost pulled my hair out. The game was already in hand for Iowa. Tarin Smith had the ball and had a beautiful drive to the hoop. I am in Section 122 so it was coming right at me. Smith could have had an easy finger roll layup, but instead passed it out to the corner. We ended up settling for a 3 point shot by Petteway that was 100% contested with a few seconds left on the clock. It is plays like that, that are making us lose ball games. I just would really like to know the mind set of these players, and the reason they won't shoot. There has to be a reason other than just being afraid Edit: Hate me all you want, but I believe it is something to do with our defensive mentality. Take our shot clock down to keep the games close. I know the majority want to punch me in the face for saying this, but I still think Molinari is a big reason our offense is struggling. The shot clock is playing to big of a role in our offensive game plan

Regardless what anybody thinks.....

You sir are..................................... incorrect -
Let me make this real easy Shields has shot "79" 3's and has mad 15 Smith and Fuller together have shot "33" 3's and made 12 3's don't have to be shot by Shields, Pitchford and Petteway. If they let them shot 5 more 3's a game we would be a better team... it is that simple. 3's don't require you to be that athletic, and they are better at it then the 3 mentioned above Petteway, Shields and Pitchford = "397" 3 point attempts and have made "113". That is 28.5% Smith and Fuller = "33" 3 point attempts and have made "12" That is 36.6% 397 attempts is 76.6% of all the 3 point attempt by our team. If you add in Tai W. that is 48 more and he has made 10 (20.8%) and his attempts bring the total to 445 and 85.9% of the total amount of 3's taken. That is ridiculous and a huge reason why we suck. Simple fact... as I have proof that I provided above. The wrong people are taking our 3's

If shots aren't falling for Petteway, Fuller and Smith should be able to step up and make up for the crap Petteway has to put up with. Design some play for them. If they start designing plays for them like they do for Webster, Shields, Pitchford and Petteway. Stuff will happen They need more damn touches. Numbers don't lie

Smith is shooting .467(.360 behind the arc) and Fuller is shooting .520(.375 behind the arc) If Petteway(.409 and .318 behind the arc) would give up 3-4 to Smith, and Pitchford (.382 and .293 behind the arc ) would give up 3-4 for Fuller we would be more balanced and would open up the floor for Shields and Petteway to do what they do best get to the rim Let those two help our team damnit!!! It will make for more of a complete team, and make both of them feel more comfortable in their abilities

Differences this year compared to last - No Rey Gallegos - No Craig Smith - Benny starting instead of coming off the bench - Biggs departure sparking the team to come together - Molinari takes over for Craig Smith - Pitchford asked to play more down low, because lack of post players(Could be worse next year) - Pressure to live up to pre-season hype - Moses Abraham - Provided minimal help this year - Leslie Smiths injury - Tarin Smith Excluded: Fuller and Hammond, because they have not played enough to play into the crappy season So somewhere in that list of differences is where the problem lies. If I had to lean on anything here it would be Molinari. Our guys are not relating with his philosophy, and are not buying in. The other ones that I believe are tying in to what we see this year is - No Post presence. Leslie is there now, but obviously he is not what he was last year - Norm's "Hot Potato" = Lack of confidence = Lack of Motivation - Can't buy 3 point baskets

Look... you can use that excuse as it is the easy way to take the "We would have lost anyways" approach. The problem with this is simple. You do realize that one of the worst calls hasn't even been mentioned... the "And 1" that was called "on the floor" against Webster. We get that and it puts us at 16... They call the very next play a block against Wisconsin instead of a charge... Petteway hits them both... 27-18 doesn't look quite as bad does it. What was the score with 1:20 left again? 58-53 You add those 5 points and guess what... our comeback ties the game and it is a completely different game in the last seconds. EVERY bad call counts and it effects the outcome of the game, and those two to end the first half are a BIG reason why we lost the game

We won tonight... can I bitch now? The way the games are called when we are home never benefit our team. The refs were a complete joke tonight and I am still sticking with my original post. We do not get the calls like other teams. We won tonight... the refs called us for some of the dumbest s*** ever. Yes they were bad for Minnesota as well... That is my point... home court, the calls generally favor the home team right. Why does that not happen for us?
-
Either Iowa is very good at drawing fouls (they are) or else they also enjoy Away court advantage At Minny: Iowa 27 FTs - 16 FTs At Ohio St: Iowa 23 FTs - OSU 15 FTs At North Carolina: Iowa 24 FTs - NC - 17 FTs If the reffing crew was always the same, I think you could make an argument for "home cooking" This isn't high school ball though...we're always mixing and matching refs. You might get some guys who call things tighter or perhaps even call things more for the home team...but you're not going to consistently get that. I would assume that the majority of bump we or anyone else get at home typically has more to do with travel fatigue, familiarity, and crowd noise than reffing once you average it out. Exceptions can apply. We're going to shoot 20+ FTs against Minnesota. It's not going to be because of home court advantage. It's going to be because we're good at drawing contact and they're good at giving as they try to turn you over. Yeah 38 is quite a bit more than 23, 24 and 27. Almost half their points were free throws. As far as you that are calling me a loser, please read I'm not blaming them for our loss to Wisconsin or Iowa. I just don't see how we get "5" when we are a driving team, and an Iowa get 38. It just makes no sense to me.
-
First let me start out by saying we did not lose the Wisconsin game because of officiating My concern is the amount of free throws our opponents get when we are on the road compared to what we get at home Look we won against Illinois right... we had 5 free throws in that game... "5" you know what that says. Our opponents seem to be getting a more fair shot at winning on the road then we seem to be. Iowa game really stands out, mainly because the amount of free throws they got compare to us. That is called home court advantage. Let not forget the foul call on Rivers where his jersey brushed up Iowa post players back for a couple of free points Look I know officiating isn't an exact science, but you can't tell me Nebraska fouls that much more on the road. Like the call on Shields last night was down right awful. Our 5 fouls to their 0 to start the 2nd half is what kept them from losing the lead. These calls affect the game flow and it never seems to be in our favor even at home. Why is that okay? I find it extremely difficult to watch.

Kendrick Nunn Says Hello https://rivals.yahoo.com/nebraska/basketball/recruiting/player-Kendrick-Nunn-113785;_ylt=AvI8DXPvu7J.p3tEoybRH01Ws5B4

Ahhhhh... what? No sir, Ubel is not 3 times greater than Pitchford. Not sure how you came to that conclusion, but it is dead wrong!

One wonders. But one also wonders how valuable a role the other former Miles assistants have played also: Craig Smith - Head Coach, USD Dave Richman - Head Coach, NDSU Niko Medved - Head Coach, Furman Saul Phillips - Head Coach, Ohio That is the Miles coaching tree so far. Not a bad start for a still relatively young coach. One also must wonder, was it the assistants that made coach Miles? Or was it coach Miles that made the assistants what they are now? Is it any surprise why we were able to get Kenya to come from Georgetown? Or Coach Mo to step down as a head coach to become an assistant under Miles? I'm not trying to say that I know the answer to any of the questions I just asked. I'm just saying it makes sense to spend a little time thinking about these things before we just start to rant and spout off about what a horrible coach Tim Miles is. Kenya gotta be pissed this year... He doesn't even have a post to work with. We have to get the guy somebody to Coach! When\if Leslie Smith and to a lesser extent Moses comes back, this team is going to have a solid turn around. You can quote me on it. We need them Bigs to open up the lane for Petteway and more importantly Shields.

Where are your seats... I wasn't able to make the game last night, and want to make sure I'm not the smelly guy

Came out like they own the place and then they blow a 21-7 lead pretty damn quick. Props to UNO they couldn't miss to start that game!
