  1. There's no way the shot clock is the cause of the problem. We used to score more points when there was a 45-second clock. If cutting the shot clock leads to higher scoring, shouldn't scoring be up already? Focus on officiating and the problem will be solved.
  2. Strength...and athleticism. Comparing Vooch to these guys simply on their weight and strength doesn't tell quite the whole story.
  3. I agree, need to give him some time though. And yes he should have redshirted last year, but that is over so we can't really do anything about it. He can still redshirt. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't show the kind of improvement desired of him he may redshirt this coming season.
  4. I really like Ubel, and he might have SOME of McHale's moves, but not all, and what most players miss is the patience that he just kept working to get those shots. I don't see any footage of McHale counting the screws in the Garden's floor. Disappointing.
  5. They'd be Ramos's huh Hope everyone on the board "gets" why this is funny. I think your hope will go satisfied. Just like Nee's wife.
  6. That's all well and good, but I want to know how it went for US!
  7. I heard they are going to shoot Tim Miles out of a cannon.
  8. Removed for inability to distinguish simple numbers. What? I don't even know what your post means. What I was saying is: Would you want your QB to go 18 of 30 passing (18 completions, 30 attempts), or 13 of 18 passing (13 completions, 18 attempts). While it is very likely that the QB that goes 18 of 30 in this scenario (18 completions, 30 attempts) will end up with more passing yards, simply because he has more attempts, doesn't mean that he was as effective/efficient as the QB that went 13 of 18 passing (13 completions, 18 attempts). While the QB with a higher number of attempts will probably have a higher total number of yards in this scenario, it was also at the cost of production from other players on his team (ie failed attempts, missed shots, incomplete passes). The QB with the higher number of attempts in this scenario also had a much higher number of incompletions. He was less effective/efficient. The QB with the higher number of attempts also threw 12 incompletions, while the other QB only threw 5 incomplete passes. So, the QB with the higher number of attempts also had the higher number of plays that he didn't allow for potential production from his teammates. To me this is like basketball. It's not about point totals, it's about the ratio of shots taken/shots made. It's a percentage. And the 3-PT% of Gallegos in Big Ten play was less than .300. He shot 130 more 3's than any other player on the team, so obviously, he had more points. But while taking 130 more 3's than anyone else on the team, he also missed many more shots than anyone else. That is how he can score more points than other players, while his 3-PT% is lower (less than .300) I'm not as impressed with a guy that scores a few more points, when he also shoots 130 more 3's than anyone else on the team. My post means nothing. I misread the numbers you posted initially and I couldn't delete the post. So, I removed my post because I showed an inability to read your simple numbers.
  9. Umm...what? Since when do quarterbacks get passing yards for incompletions? I think he's saying 18 completions is more than 14 in his example. However, since Gallegos is about scoring, not yardage, the number in the hypothetical should be 18 for 30 with 4 touchdowns versus 14 for 18 with 2 touchdowns. Now maybe the RB and kicker pick up the slack for the 14 of 18 guy but if they don't, my "volume passer" is getting more points on the board. Crap! For some reason I read it as 13-for-30 and 13-for-18. Oops!!!!!
  10. Removed for inability to distinguish simple numbers.
  11. Yeah, I can see that. But if you get out the check book and pay him what he's worth, then you might have a coach who is qualified to make the step up to head coach if Miles ever decides to leave Nebraska. More than anything, I think it has to do with the fact Lue has said he'd prefer to coach in the league and not in college. Doubt we'll ever see him on our bench in any coaching capacity.
  12. Start beating them. Problem solved. Well, not really. In the 90s, when we beat them routinely, nobody on either side of the aisle viewed it as a heated rivalry. Creighton was just that in-state team we played every year. Like UNO will be. Once Altman arrived and his team knocked us off, THAT is when this became a rivalry. If we return to the kind of dominance over Creighton that we enjoyed in the 90s, which included winning in Omaha, this series will be a series and not a rivalry. I'd chalk that up more to the fact Creighton stunk out loud during much of the 90's. Of course we didn't see them as a rival; they were terrible! Creighton fans didn't see it as a rivalry because they were getting their asses handed to them by damn near every team they played for half the decade. They probably didn't care enough for it to be a rivalry. Creighton has been beating us on a regular basis of late (at least it feels that way...if McD stays next year, I fully expect them to beat us again). If we start beating them (especially in Omaha), that makes for a back-and-forth between the two teams, which is much more conducive to a rivalry (think of Colorado and Nebraska football in the late 80's and early 90's, and K-State and Nebraska football in the late 90's early aughts...that's when those schools started to see us as a rival). If we start beating Creighton again it will increase the rivalry until it gets to be so one-sided no one cares any more. Right now, we're the big school in the state, but they're the big program (at least before their move to the Big East...we'll see how they produce there). The little guy has to show he can play with the big guy for it to be a rivalry. To start beating Creighton will heighten any rivalry we may have with them. To continue to beat them (and, by doing so turn into the big guy again) will dampen it.
  13. Start beating them. Problem solved. Well, not really.
  14. I'm with you on this, dude. After this class, we should fill all of our spots. But since we're early in the rebuilding process we can afford to go with a light class. After this year, self-imposed probation just won't fly.
  15. Well, that does seem to fit in with NCAA student-athletes!
  16. Did he play sports in college?
  17. Made it two minutes.
  18. Forty-five weeks? Really? We're that close to it being the end of football season again? Damn, how did I miss it?
  19. The Laettner shot wasn't even in the Final Four.
  20. Every time I see this thread I think there was some time in the 90's when we played Duke. Really, we played against Grant Hill?!!?!
  21. You need to trust your instincts less. See: the last theory you threw out in the recruiting forum.
  22. Just like Grandpa.
  23. Five against three? Really? That's your comparison? And have you seen Pitino's results coaching against NBA players/teams?
  24. It's not just 100% different from basketball, it's 100% different from this situation on an entirely different level. Bobby Riggs was well past his playing days when this match went down. That won't be the case with Griner and the NBA fellas. She'd be playing with/against dudes in the prime of their playing abilities. She'll get stomped if she does it.
  25. I'm with you, dude.
