  1. The bad thing about these types of chants and the like is they are mostly easily mocked. The stupid K-State "Wildcat first down" thing is highly mockable. I've been in that stadium when Nebraska was winning and every time we'd get a first down we would mock the 'cats. We come up with something along those lines and we'll get mocked in our own house for more than just being bad at basketball I don't like that.
  2. It's too bad the NCAA deemed the Hawai'i football team's haka unsportsmanlike. Theirs was awesome. A student section haka just doesn't seem like it would work...it has to be the team...and I don't think that's going to work. That said, you're right, Norm, the haka is awesome!
  3. It's also a recruiting violation. Well, only if they've paid money for tickets and the like.
  4. On the internet?
  5. Saw that this morning. Good stuff!
  6. sadly you'll never please everyone on a site they go to for free. The issue was that the news ended up in the middle of a giant thread about a guy so it's hard to notice unless you're digging in there that something of this significance has happened. That's true. A new thread on the guy would have been nice.
  7. And when we win a big game we can post it in the recruiting forum! Ok, I'm just being a shit.
  8. Every day is such a day.
  9. I don't understand the gripe either.
  10. I assume there is some distinction there... or why they would do that... Either way, I don't like it but I wouldn't mind hearing a reason. I believe it's because he doesn't want potential recruits to stop by here and see one of us saying things about how we don't really want him...or something like that.
  11. Kid's got some long arms! This. Does not. Suck.
  12. That's it. It was a picture of the guys standing in kind of a V and they all had on their uniforms and held their helmets by the facemasks. The way they were holding the face mask was with the blood sign. Not all but some. Abdul Mohammand was one of them that I can remember. The other was the first guy in the V. Don't remember who but he was little and may have wore the #1. Wasn't Phillips, I know that. Was either a wide reciever or DB. Yup...the sign was basically the "OK" sign, just upside down.
  13. I used to have the poster. It was 'round about the time Abdul Mohammad was on the team, I believe.
  14. Yes, but is he taller than McDermott in the Creighton team picture?
  15. Biggs' strength is his athleticism. But Ray is even more athletic. Biggs could potentially be a solid option at the 2 spot IF he worked as hard during his redshirt year as Ray did to improve his shooting. We won't really know until the bullets start flying for real and that will answer a lot of questions. But I can see why you'd almost pull the trigger for Biggs. Last we saw of them both, Biggs would for sure have had an advantage over Ray in his ability to attack the rim. And we'll miss not having that from Talley. I don't doubt that Ray is more athletic than Biggs...but I'd venture a guess to say Biggs has more "basketball athletic" ability than Ray. By that I mean I think Biggs has quicker feet and hands. His quick feet (and better handles) should allow Biggs to get to the rim with considerably more frequency than Ray has shown in the past (as we both agree with). He's also proven to be a pretty solid thief (at least in CC), right? Ray's got springs, for sure, and can play a ton of minutes, but I think Biggs will be a better overall player when their times are done. I hope you're right because that means we're upgrading the talent. Which is what we need. Yes it is!

  17. I went with Pitchford here as well. Shields at the four and Petteway at the three. Either way, it's amazing how many "new" guys will see the floor this year! This season will have a completely different feel, and that's not all bad!
  18. I almost went with Biggs here (I see him playing the 2 when he and Webster are on the floor at the same time), but I just couldn't pull the trigger. Ray will get most of the minutes at the 2, but Biggs should be able to attack the rim when he plays this spot.
  19. Those are freaking brilliant!
  20. I saved up a bunch of money to get a pair of Reebok Air Pumps. Tried them on several times. Couldn't pull the trigger. Probably spent the money at Sluggo's instead.
  21. I wasn't trying to tell you what it meant...I was trying to tell you its history. I thought that's what you were asking about. Apparently I read your post incorrectly.
  22. http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/the_proof_of_the_pudding_is_in_the_eating I figured it was one of the idioms/phrases Shakespeare gave us. I was wrong.
  23. Who is Matt Davidson? Is he friends with Grant Winstrom?
  24. Harriman said on the radio today that he measured "close to 6'4". Based on these two statements, I would guess that they are going to "list" him as 6'4" on the official roster. Of course, we all know he isn't really 6'4". I have no idea why they measure them in shoes, and Tai himself said he measured 6'3 1/4 in shoes, but on a relative scale, it says a lot. The fact is that ALL teams fib regarding their players height. So, it is all relative at this point. Even though we know a listed height of 6'4" isn't actually accurate, it is accurate in the sense of how he relates to other players on the court with him and against him. In this sense, he is a very good sized PG to have. And I think that is why Miles and the staff are so high on him. Miles has shown that he likes height in all his players, including his PG. This is why he put Talley in at PG last year. If another team has a wing listed at 6'5", Tai should be able to guard him on a switch (stength aside) because most likely that wing listed at 6'5" is actually only 6'3". Again, it is all relative to the scale that all NCAA BB teams have set. Plus, based on the picture of Tai "smiling", he looks quite long and his hands are huge. This extended reach should allow him to play a legit 6'4" even if he is not. (As a side note, I watched a documentary on Dr. J a few weeks ago and everyone that played with him or agaisnt him constantly referred to his huge hands and how lethal this made him on the court. I don't think Tai has Dr. J hands, but his extra grip will certainly help him when he is driving to the basket and making plays.) Harriman also said that they plan to have him play primarily PG. I think we all suspected this, but it seems to be confirmed by the coaches--at least as of now. If Tai can truly handle the ball and make plays, having a 6'4" PG for 3 or 4 years could be a huge advantage. I hope he can knock down that outside shot, b/c that is what will make him be the complete player we need (that, and playing good defense, which will definitely be a challenge for him initially until he adapts to the speed and strength of the American players.) They measure them in shoes because they play in shoes. Why wouldn't they measure them that way?
