I think Miles overreacted a little bit (which I don’t blame him) after scheduling tough last year and then getting screwed over by Traitor III. Having so many new guys on the roster I think he thought the Big Ten would be strong enough to where he could schedule some softer teams in non-conference in order to prepare them for conference games. If he had a crystal ball to see the Big Ten would be down I think he would have scheduled tougher non-conference games.

I listened to Bruce Rasmussen on 1620 today and I thought he spoke fairly highly of us. He talked about many things the committee will look at, and he specifically mentioned our games against Creighton and Kansas where the RPI considers it as a loss, but the committee will look deeper into the details of the loss, hinting that we played well in those games and that will probably get discussed. He also mentioned they will look at injuries and the health of teams, so my interpretation was a game against a healthy Minnesota team would help us. Also, he flat out said if we win out he expects us to make the tournament. I really think Bruce being the Chairman on the committee will be a positive for us.

I sure would like to see Rich King come back some year. To my knowledge he hasn’t returned since his playing days, but I could be wrong. He’s one of my favorite players and was a big reason I became a fan of Nebraska basketball. He came to my church his senior year in high school when I was in 6th grade and thought that was the coolest thing getting to meet him. I’ve been hooked ever since.

I also have the same superstition for away games , but I’m addicted to Nebrasketball and it’s too hard to not watch. I did shut the TV off roughly 5 minutes into the 2nd half of the Penn State game because I felt like I was bad luck watching the game, and that’s when we made our run to tie it up and send into over time (my wife was giving me updates while I was working out). Also, over the years, every time I start to get too optimistic things go bad, so I try to take a somewhat pessimistic approach this year hoping that good things happen. My wife laughs at me and my superstitions.

I guess I’m not the only one that can’t sleep after that game.

We had about 7 Io_a fans sitting in the row in front of us. You could tell they wanted to get loud so bad, but couldn’t because their team was getting handled. I thoroughly enjoyed their silence and made sure to clap a little louder than normal.
