Today's issue of USA TODAY lists their picks for the top five sleeper All-Americans in Bball this year and it starts with: 1. Terran Petteway, Nebraska: Simply put, this junior can score. But... to read the article: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2014/07/11/starting-five-sleeper-all-american-players-in-2014-15/12291013/

Leslee Smith out for 2014-15 with an ACL tear
trickey replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Why? What other major talents (or minor ones) were not better all through their early 20's than they were the year before? JBJ, Bird. Magic. MJ. Wilt, Dougie Howser, whoever...I typically expect improvement each year from an exceptional athlete until well past the expiration of their college eligibility, barring injury. I am not claiming that any of our crowd muscle into this elite company listed...merely using easy to recognize examples as illustrations... If you like instead insert: Brandon Ubel. Bo Spencer, Dylan Talley, Sek Henry, Lance Jeter, Mikki Moore....etc. better each year they were here. That is one of the beauties of college athletics...you get to see the blossoming production! -
Would you be disappointed if we didn't dance this year?
trickey replied to PimpMario's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
The below chart is one "slightly illegal" site's odds on college teams winning the NCAA tournament. We are 6th in our top-notch big-time league...which means they think we will make the dance...so do I. Indirectly, some will surmise that the betting expected order of finish (if the teams were playing equal schedules) would be: Wisconsin, Michigan St, Michigan, Ohio St, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Illinois...and the bottom 4 (recall we were slotted back here here last year) College Basketball Future Odds Odds to Win 2014-15 NCAA Men's Tournament (4/6/15) School Odds Kentucky 4/1 Arizona 8/1 Duke 10/1 Kansas 14/1 Florida 14/1 Wisconsin 14/1 North Carolina 22/1 Wichita State 28/1 Villanova 28/1 Louisville 28/1 SMU 28/1 Texas 28/1 Iowa State 35/1 Gonzaga 35/1 Michigan State 40/1 San Diego State 40/1 Michigan 40/1 VCU 45/1 Virginia 45/1 Syracuse 45/1 Ohio State 55/1 UConn 60/1 Oklahoma 65/1 Pittsburgh 70/1 UCLA 70/1 Baylor 80/1 Miami, FL 80/1 Iowa 80/1 Field (Any Other Team) 100/1 Oregon 100/1 Nebraska 100/1 UNLV 110/1 Saint Louis 110/1 Arkansas 110/1 Tennessee 110/1 Seton Hall 110/1 Providence 110/1 Cincinnati 110/1 Minnesota 110/1 Maryland 110/1 Marquette 110/1 Kansas State 110/1 Indiana 110/1 Memphis 110/1 Georgetown 110/1 Florida State 110/1 Illinois 175/1 Harvard 200/1 N.C. State 200/1 St. Johns 200/1 Notre Dame 200/1 Alabama 200/1 Utah 200/1 UTEP 200/1 Stanford 200/1 Oklahoma State 200/1 Georgia 200/1 Dayton 200/1 Colorado 200/1 DePaul 300/1 Penn State 300/1 So you ask: Would you be disappointed if we didn't dance this year? If we finish in the top 6 I darn well expect it...so yes I would be disappointed What are you expectations? While slightly lower now that Leslee is gone...I still think a higher finish than last year is expected, as the additions are still greater than the subtractions...maybe we do not finish higher in the regular season conference standings but we will do better in the conference and NCAA tournaments. Is it fair to expect to dance this year? GOD YES!!! We'll be there...and get used to it for many years to come! -

This is an article about Miles and Manning going to Scottsbluff yesterday...nothing earth-shattering...but some interesting comments on Peltz. http://www.starherald.com/sports/local_sports/nu-s-miles-manning-and-eichorst-make-stop-in-scottsbluff/article_dcacd936-0661-11e4-87cd-0019bb2963f4.html

Here is an article from Mississippi that says an Eddie Taylor will be trying to walk on at NU. http://www.pressregister.com/news/article_5a2d1f6a-02ca-11e4-a481-001a4bcf887a.html I am not sure whether this is just his wish or whether it is arranged with the staff...Anybody know? What little I found on his stats was not world beater stuff, but who knows? http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/eddie-taylor/SbjyF_TpEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/gendersport/basketball-stats.htm

In reading the article I took it to mean that Durant must have been holding back the first day because on the second day nobody could stop him. So in that context it's a little less impressive. thats the way i took it, sorta like some of the camps with LBJ, make him look bad for half a day, and the rest of the week he's going 100% at you to make up for it. You know you are old when...Somebody refers to LBJ and you immediately realize this is the 36th president of the US. (Hey, Hey, LBJ...How many kids did you kill today?) But then the dawning occurs. LBJ is now a basketball player...and a great one...but I can't change my mind's reaction...God, it's hell getting old!

In this vein...my thought earlier was, I wish they did not write the positive article about the effect our players reaching out to him after the visit...since now this is a known +... each coach will insure that it happens for them as well. What can you do?

He has apparently signed with Wyoming for hoops...turning down Indiana!? http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=6437660

Verbal Commits shows we have offers out to both Schnider Herard from Prestonwood Christian / Plano, TX and Jordy Tshimanga, from Montreal, Canada MacDuffie High School both in the class of 2016. Judging from Herard's rankings, offers and home state, he would appear a long shot. Not near as much out there on Tshimanga...and I have seen nothing on either on HHC. Does anyone have insights on one or both of these players? Edit: OK so I did not use the search feature correctly and I now recall viewing the Schnider Herard board. Thanks for the reminder, bobcat... So I changed the title to be exclusive to Jordy Tshimanga...any input on this player would be great!

Song you'd like to use for the Highlight intro
trickey replied to TheKamdyMan's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
So...How do so many HHC members know what songs the bluejays use... when you only need to attend one of their home games every other year? -
OK, SB1...You hit me in my pet peeve space...so here goes my rant. It is because we ain't B1G enough yet...we still need to be babysat along with the Terrapins and Knights...while our older brother, Lion ...may be starting to get a little more channel love (well they can't play the piece that tells you how PSU was WAY more deserving of the football crystal trophy in '97 than whoever got it, like they used to all the time B4 we arrived). The OLD "real 10" are the real present day Old Major, Napoleon, Snowball, and Squealer of this league...and they will be as long as they can maintain it. The disparity is not as aggravating as texASS...but how could it be considering that was concentrated in one location? OK I am near the end of my Rant....but it's true...if blue, sparty, bucky, or even herky won that game...it would be on at least every other week until next season, and other schools would be sick of it (B1G channel tradition). We know Huskers may be required to outlive Zager and Evans before the B1G channel seems fair and balanced!

I believe this is accurate also...There is a higher paying job out there for Paul...and they part amicable! Not handled as well as it could be...but that is another subject.

5 " and still raining at my house (90th and Dodge)...I was out cleaning sewer grates that clogged up with leaves to avoid flooding...The folks in Northeast Omaha are not so lucky as they have a very old sewer system that joins storm and sewage systems...with this heavy downpour...they backup in lower parts up the main drains...eewww! Things I have to be thankful for...no heavy hail so far here in central Omaha. I feel sorry for the folks further north. I wish them the best.

FWIW, I agree with you completely. Had you posted it in a different thread, I wouldn't have had anything to add. Norm...wouldn't have had anything to add! Highly unlikely!

It is hard to understand the thinking of the radio programmer who decides to cut off the show just as 16,000 new listeners are tuning in! I never reach my car to hear the box score...as that is nearly the first thing after the game and never repeated. I drive an hour to get home yet the show is over about 5 to 10 minutes after I reach my car...and I am not interested in listening to tom becka, etc. politicos.
