  1. MSU is a very bad matchup for us this season. They are definitely a ranked team after this week. Our bigs just learned what the Big 10 feels like in the post against the most physical team in the conference. They’ll get better.
  2. 24 assists to 12 turnovers is going to get you a lot of wins. That’s pretty impressive.
  3. Hot take: St. Mary’s is a top 10 team.
  4. Whether he did or not, 2025 freshman Quentin Rhymes is already better than Kilgore Trout.
  5. GG has also had a couple of very good games—one where I thought he was our best player. Both Fred (OC) and Nate (DC) have really detailed systems and very high expectations. There's definitely a huge learning curve for newbies.
  6. CJ is definitely the weirdest one of the bunch. Absolutely nothing about his game matches TAMU’s typical athlete.
  7. St. Mary’s is damned good and about as disciplined as any D1 coach could ask a team to be. They will win a ton of games sans injuries (they have no depth). They will be a problem in the tournament this year. Meah needs to work the low block offensively when he’s in the game. He’s not bad there and it would give us a nice change of pace. Pretty proud of the effort. You can tell they don’t quite know how to win yet but I saw some flashes out of several of them I’ve been waiting on, and they were happy to get chippy. Both good signs.
  8. It’s a much better sign to look at the team and find out why it hasn’t quite clicked yet vs looking at the team and seeing we don’t have the talent to compete. Basketball is also a game of matchups. I think our size should hold up in the B1G over the course of a season. Also, that’s two straight games with good defense. Don’t forget we’re playing good defense.
  9. I watched the whole replay. Two things: Griffiths should have been on the court for the last 5 minutes. The more I watch him the more I like. I’d start him over Meah and have Berke start at the 5. He creates all sorts of problems that don’t show up on the stat sheet with his length and speed. He’s smart, unselfish, and helps the offense flow. He also has a good understanding of pro spacing. BC’s run to get back in the game was with him on the bench. His closeouts on defense are really good and he’s capable of switching everything. He also led our team in assists playing 13 minutes. I love Sam but he’s not a PG and GG deserved Sam’s minutes last night. I like Berke a lot. He’s smart, skilled, and tough. We need to give him a ton of reps as the 5 in the half court because he has the passing ability to get it done in Mast’s role. They also need to green light him from 3 and live with the results. He’s a good player. Juwan started being Juwan more this game. Good to see. Brice forced it but also played really well alongside Griffiths. They are a problem together. Worster was terrible offensively but he’s a great defender. I guess this week is layup practice. Wtf.
  10. Watched the highlights. Rollie looks outstanding on defense and very, very good on offense. He’s an awesome pickup. I’m gonna guess our energy guys are Gary and Morgan. For those of you who have seen Morgan play, is it fair to say his presence was missed today? Is Berke out of shape or do we want his playing weight up for the B1G? His body type looks very different that UCLA, but I liked his rebounding and skill. Lots of upside there. We definitely have some pieces and a lot of flexibility for our potential lineups.
  11. It’s nice to think that we have a good enough roster that “First Four Out” from Lunardi projections is now bulletin board material. I really think our group is the conference dark horse to win the thing. There’s no reason we won’t be better than last season from a talent perspective. I expect we’ll spend some time this season ranked.
  12. He is really, really good. All around game, high IQ, scores at all three levels, very good passer, loves defense. Effort kid to boot. 6’7” ish with a Bryce level ability to handle. Absolutely love this get.
  13. Love seeing Allick as a GA working w Meah. Meah looks like he's been in the weight room too. Gentle giant. Gotta get him mean on the court. Love this pickup.
  14. I was thinking about Big3 also but I’m guessing FIBA hates Ice Cube. 3x3 is exhausting due to the continuous play so I get needing to have current pros. It sure seems like a prerequisite would be being at least 6’6” (able to switch screens), have a decent jumper, and be very physical. Gotta be some college players graduating or low salaried Euro pros that would love to travel the world playing 3x3 full time and have a chance to be an Olympian. Something about it feels very exclusive and weird right now but I could be wrong.
