  1. Was Joe Holmes a lefty? Kenny Walton and Chris Logan from the Iba era.
  2. I lived in Kearney at the time and I was driving to work and was listening to the local morning radio show when they announced breaking news regarding a plane hitting one of the towers. By the time I got to work which took about 20 minutes, the narrative started to change from accidentally flying into the tower to deliberately targeting the towers with a plane. When I got in the office the TV was on and you could see the smoke rolling out of the building. We continued watching the live footage until the second plane hit the other tower and then shortly afterwords got word that the Pentagon had been hit as well. That's when my boss told us to go home.
  3. I can only speak from my own experience regarding this. When PBA opened my brother purchased two season tickets in the 300 level and I joined him for most of the games. I found that people around us had no problem getting into cheering. I think there were a couple of reasons for this. The first was there was excitement about moving into PBA and we had some good non-conference opponents, especially the opener. The second may have been an influx of new blood into the fan base in terms of in person attendance. It seemed that everyone near us were first timers in terms of season ticket holders and most lived outside of Lincoln (as did we) and were eager to support the basketball team. From my perspective it was a great atmosphere, even up in the rafters. And once the team went on their run in conference play, every game became bigger, ultimately turning the season into a special one. Unfortunately we didn't capitalize on this success the following year, but I digress. The point is the atmosphere in PBA can be special as we have already witnessed it be so.
  4. I agree. Energy can be lacking at times, especially if we are playing a school most fans (students included) haven't heard of and assume it should be an easy W. We certainly are not alone in this regard.
  5. I would agree, this certainly didn't help. The students being on the floor made for a better atmosphere.
  6. “It was just like dead space, and it just didn’t have a lot of energy,” Miles said. “You had to try and get energy.” Those of us that followed Nebraska basketball well before Tim's arrival know that the statement above doesn't ring true. The atmosphere in Devaney was great in the 80's and 90's. PBA is a great facility, but playing in it doesn't mean the atmosphere will be great. It's the fans that make it great and Nebraska fans have been remarkable in supporting programs that have struggled for years.
  7. Late to the party but oh well...
  8. It will be interesting to see how the minutes are distributed this season. The first 8 on the list will average double figure minutes (guessing 20-32 mpg). If Rice continues to surprise, he could as well.
  9. Roster breakdown for the B1G (and others) per ESPN. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/36282597/ncaa-division-men-college-basketball-2023-24-rosters-departures-changes#BigTen
  10. Should have been fired with cause and forfeited the remainder of what was owed him on his contract. But somehow this colossal prick thinks he has been wronged.
  11. Not a game moment, but when Isaac Copeland transferred to Nebraska is up there for me. One of my favorite players as well.
  12. On a related note, I saw sometime last week that Denim Dawson had committed to Tennessee St if memory serves me correct. Best of luck Denim and thanks for being a Husker!
  13. Their uni's are for Black History month.
  14. I can say without a doubt that his shoulder will not be 100%, having had shoulder surgery myself, but it should not hinder him either.
  15. I may be mistaken, but I think this is the first time that Gary has had the injured shoulder repaired. His shoulder should be good going forward if everything goes well with rehab. Can't speak to the condition of his knee/s, but I think he had a little help with the facial fracture.
  16. While we're day dreaming, think how much more this would open up the offense. Walker has been very good, but limited offensively. Traudt would force defenders to guard him beyond the 3-point line and is explosive enough to put the ball on the floor and go by people.
  17. Not that it matters, but that game was at home. We had them sweating in Ann Arbor until KT got T'ed up.
  18. This is true, but 2 of those starters came from the portal. Who's to say the staff can't land similar players again? And although all 3 of those starters were solid contributors, none are irreplaceable. This is college sports. Players graduate/transfer, others step up or in to replace them. I get it. The first 3 years under Fred have been a disaster in terms of wins and losses, there is no arguing that. But it appears that Fred has figured out what he needs to do to win here and we do have a few nice pieces for next season's roster. If the staff can land some guys from the portal to fill the gaps, they have a chance to keep the positive momentum they've created this season.
  19. I know it came in a loss, but got to have a feel good moment from the game.
  20. Ditto on Dawson's defense. As good as Bando has been, Dawson has been just as good.
  21. Let me add how much I appreciate Walker and Griesel (and Bando) playing for the Huskers. They are talented players that are fun to watch and without them we will certainly look different next season. HCFH will have to tailor his offense to the skill sets that the returning players have, as well as any new additions. This is what every coach has to do every year. Hopefully we will have some guys currently on the roster develop and that the staff can add some solid contributors through the portal.
  22. Yes. He appeared to be directing it toward the student section under the basket. I presume he was being heckled, but got to be better than that.
