"Hey, Kenya, I know this seems like a good career move, but we have decided to take a new approach with Husker basketball. We are "all in", like we are in football. Here's what that means to you.. Coach Miles is getting a 3 year extension. We want recruits to know he is our coach and we believe in him (and you). His assistants will be getting significant raises with extra term guaranteed We will make recruiting travel easier for the assistants, like we are for the football coaches Did I mention we are giving you a raise? We understand you want a career path, and we are on board with that. Tell us how we can help. We think you and Coach are going to be successful and we want to give you whatever support we can." I guess I am making the assumption that this would have kept Hunter here. Maybe not. But if Moos (or whomever is making the call at the University) wants to tell us fans that they care about basketball and are dedicated to make us relevant, this discussion should've happened then and, more importantly, should happen with whomever comes in next.

Nebraska (15-14) vs. Michigan St. (23-6) Game thread

Copeland was not all-conference but was part of the collective and filled his role perfectly (and fit in this team perfectly). Without him, I don't think NE starting five is better than anyone in conference other than NW. -

Well, we could probably look at any statistical split before/after Michigan St, and none of them are positive after. But our defense was stellar prior to that. After Copeland, whether personnel or effort, teams seemed to be hitting their stride against our defense, especially from 3 pt range. -

that wide open look for 3 rarely happened earlier this year. Guys played hard tonight but lack of communication, inexperience, and not knowing responsibilities ends up leaving guys wide open. -
Funny how things get twisted to apply a narrative. Ohio St got plowed at Purdue by 35, and discussion is about their seeding in the Tourney. NE gets beat by UM by 28 and it’s a reflection of the coach. Penn st wins 6 of 8 but our loss is Horrible, yet it’s another quad 1 loss. My original answer was get moving toward next year if you are firing him. If you go to NIT, them that’s a signal you are not firing him.

Yes, could be done. But conTrary to what the internets tell us, these players like Miles. Can’t see them playing really motivated w/o him. Also, is their example in basketball where that has happened? I know in football not uncommon.

If you are firing Miles, you don’t go to the NIT. You get started on new coach. If we go to NIT, should be signal he is not firing Miles.

All of that premise was so fragile and we didn’t even realize... if there was an alpha or leader in the group (there wasn’t ) it was Copeland. Huge loss the 4 yr PG is a head case and would lose his way for 1/2 the season The NBA player doesn’t own it the returning all conference player presses when the first three points come to light. This team was firmly “in” the tourney when Cope went down. Replace Him with Tanner in that Group of 4 and doesn’t look so impressive.

thanks for the details here. a week ago we had 8 Quad 1/Quad 2 wins - goes to show how quick things can change. If you put this together yourself, thank you, but if you grabbed this summary info from a website, would you share which site that is??

at 15-13. 7-8 in conference. Their Quad 1/Quad 2 record is 6-13. It is crazy how close we really are even with the awful last 6 weeks....

Nana needs to not be in the main rotation. I would rather Harris be the key off the bench - create havoc with defense, make it tough on the other team, and then maybe drive to the basket occasionally or get an offensive rebound. Nana seems to be in wrong position on D, then stand around on offense. He is not part of solution.

yes, but @Duke, @Syracuse, vs Virginia -- pretty tough start. All Q1 losses. Hopeful they finish conference strong.

Appreciate this thread. Out to dinner and can’t listen.

Welcome to NE basketball board. This slam would probably be well-received over at the Creighton board. Do they have one?

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 11; ed 4 - Missouri St.

I know it was a long, long time ago, but it was JPJ that made a 3 pointer when Seton Hall had closed to within 2 pts after that fiasco tech. And it was JPJ that scored 28 in that game (yes, by getting to the rim). But the big shot was the 3 when it matter. I don't buy into JPJ stock is down because of one bad shooting night. -
This kid is a rare athletic talent and he is 6’6. He is getting better each year and best player in your state for that class. Take him in a heartbeat.

I think you know exactly what he was asking/saying. Creighton found diamonds in the rough and essentially slowed them down. The stars aligned, and it worked perfectly. OTOH, Miles tries to tell Aguek to take a year and gets vilified by Omahans. Perception is that NE is out with the Nebraska, specifically Omaha, kids. Now that there is bunch of talent in NE, that perception is changing.
-
Akol is playing for OSA (Franseze) and OSA just helped with Heiman. I would guess this is a much more positive situation for NE than Aguek and the input that Omaha South coach had on that situation.

Watched every game last year and the only time I saw Roby come out was when he was in foul trouble or when a natural rest break would be needed. He was not held back, he was not limited on his involvement. Much of the two-man game was designed for him. Hell, Miles restructured everything so he could get him on the floor more. His tendency to get in foul trouble was the only thing that led to the limited avg for minutes per game that you showed above.

Well, we were the first to offer Hepburn, so I guess we're trying...
