  1. BREAKING...AS IT STANDS RIGHT NOW, THE SELECTION COMMITTEE IS ONLY CONSIDERING 4 BIG 10 TEAMS. This is from ESPN and the King of Bracketology so it has to be true: Hopefully Michigan wins today so that number moves to 5!!!
  2. Does anyone really think the angry Nebraska basketball gods are going to allow Michigan to win this game to give us an opportunity at a quality win? I am fully expecting our run through MSG to consist of Iowa/Wisconsin/Northwestern where we lose in the finals on a full court underhand heave at the buzzer. This would make Joe Lunardi and Jerry Palm smile.
  3. Inquiring minds want to know what anyone found on the rims and how this potentially impacts a critical OVT game tonight? Hoping someone was able to help @royalfan!!!
  4. One thing I heard this morning on the radio that I found interesting/troublesome is that of our 22 wins, only 6 came against teams with a winning record. That seems remarkably low but I also tend to lean towards the optimistic side that if we take care of (hopefully!) Michigan on Friday, then we will secure a spot in the field. I don't think Bruce Rasmussen was blowing smoke talking about how good our team looks, Minnesota win, intent of scheduling, etc. I tend to think his word will carry just a bit more weight than these talking heads. BUT...we can put all this speculation to bed by just winning, preferably three more!
  5. There are three guarantees in life: 1) Death 2) Taxes 3) Lunardi and other Bracketologists disrespecting Nebraska after having watched 0 minutes of any of their games
  6. Before Lunardi comes out with his predictable bracket showing us somewhere in the next four out, this will at least make you more optimistic. This is the highest probability I have seen on this sight this year for Nebraska. A 20%+ jump as a result of beating Penn St. https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/team/nebraska-cornhuskers/bracketology
  7. I didn't join HHC until January, so had I been here back in October, I would have predicted 13 wins...Promise
  8. Both teams are capable of putting a huge scare in Michigan and hopefully takes them to 3 or 4 OT's!
  9. PRINT THIS, FRAME IT, HANG IT ON A WALL. 13 CONFERENCE WINS - A SCHOOL RECORD!!!!! THIS TEAM IS SO FUN TO WATCH!
  10. Well, based on Lunardi's past logic, a Quad 1 loss on the road is better than a Quad 3 home win. So...Penn St. may move into the field after this one while we fall off the bubble!
  11. I don't care how Lunardi or Jerry Palm will discredit this "Quad 3" win against a "mediocre" team but if they would pull their heads out of their computers and actually watch a game like Bruce Rasmussen, they would very clearly see a Tourney team. On to NYC to keep proving all the haters wrong!
  12. I hear NyQuil and hard liquor cure headaches
  13. It's going to taste great though after this win!!!
  14. Let's play 20 more complete minutes and make sure that Bruce knows there is no way in hell there are 34 other at large teams better than us!
  15. You can sign me up for this outcome! Let's finish the half strong and break their spirit!!!
  16. The most fascinating game today is going to be the Arizona-Oregon game. Obviously the allegations against Sean Miller are damning and what happens today preceding Arizona's game is going to be telling. I think there is a good chance that Arizona terminates Miller before the game and deem Ayton ineligible. In looking at some Arizona message boards there is a growing sentiment that Arizona should immediately clean house and self inflict a postseason ban this year and next year to potentially soften the impact of the NCAA hammer that will be dropped. The next several days are going to be extremely interesting. I read on another thread a question about whether the selection committee will consider allegations against certain schools during its discussions. I'm not getting my hopes up for this. The selection committee is not going to be the judge, jury and executioner in any of these cases. Hell, the NCAA has a hard enough time itself enforcing its rules and handing out punishment in an expeditious manner. So, expecting the committee to play this role is likely just a pipe dream. I'm guessing certain leaders at the NCAA are much more disappointed not in the alleged cheating but in the timing of this news getting out now prior to their annual cash cow getting started.
  17. So, Jim Delany came out today and said the condensed schedule was a mistake and that it wasn't beneficial for student athletes or the teams. Well, no shit! Who would have guessed that 5 games in 12 days isn't beneficial for teams?!?! But...don't be fooled by this response from Delany. Jim Delany's moment of clarity wasn't out of some realization that he imposed great harm on the student-athletes. To the contrary, I suspect that Delany is seeing lagging ticket sales and shrinking dollars as the primary motive behind this about face. Who also would have guessed that the New York market doesn't give a rip about the Big 10? Was there really an expectation that Rutgers fans would fill MSG - that's laughable. This was a horribly thought out decision made chasing the almighty dollar and all it did was cost the conference not only money, but potentially teams in the Tourney with results likely being skewed by teams playing so many games in a short period of time. Not to mention that all the BIG bubble teams have to wait 7-10 days to await their fate while other teams may play past them over the final week and a half of the year. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/ct-spt-jim-delany-big-ten-basketball-schedule-20180223-story.html
  18. Are we sure we really want to beat Penn St as a loss probably gets us closer to the field? I am convinced the following chain of events need to happen for us to move into Lunardi's bracket: 1) Lose to Penn St - Duh, a good loss against a bubble team is better than a win against a mediocre Quad 3 team at home, at least this is how I understand the narrative will be. 2) Hope that Rutgers or Illinois advance to play us in the Big Tourney so that we can beat a last place or near last place team on a neutral court. 3) Lose a competitive game against one of the top 3 seeds because losses don't matter and wins likely only move us down the bracket at this point. 4) Zombie apocalypse
  19. That's too bad for us because that's a great loss for Providence and one that will move them up Lunardi's bracket and put them securely in the field.
  20. Well, it's obvious to Lunardi that they looked better in their 9 point home loss to Michigan than we did in our 20 point home win against Michigan or in our most recent 9 point home win against Indiana. Losses don't matter to Lunardi unless you happen to lose to a last place team on the road, unless you're Missouri who also lost to said last place team on a neutral court.
  21. Ugh, hopefully he is ok. Hate to see any team lose an impact player at this point. I'd much rather go toe to toe with them at full strength but sometimes those are the unfortunate breaks.
  22. Interesting rooting interest game tonight with Michigan-Penn St. A Penn St. win guarantees we finish 4th in the league. However, a Penn St. win also knocks Michigan below the top 30 in RPI and our win against them earlier in the year becomes Quadrant 2 again. So, while Rasmussen gave me hope a week ago that the committee will take these Quadrants with a grain of salt, I would personally like to see Michigan win tonight so I don't have to hear the constant national narrative how Nebraska has 0 Quadrant 1 wins. I also have zero interest in potentially playing Penn St. two times in a row to end the season and that 2nd Penn St. game would also not be a Quadrant 1 win in the quarters of the BIG tourney as their RPI would most likely not be below 50. Give me Michigan, reluctantly.
  23. Not on the list but 18-10 Missouri lost to dreadful Mississippi at home. This is the same Missouri team that lost to Illinois on a neutral court early in the year. Two horrible losses with hopefully more on the horizon for them.
