  1. It has nothing to do with Sam; I would object to anyone reporting it that way. Naming the person with the turnover, as if that was was the difference in us winning the game and making the tournament (which literally is what was typed), isn't right in my opinion. Even if you decided one turnover actually was the difference in the game (which is BS), naming the player does in fact unnecessarily come close to "dissing him", if not actually "dissing him". Saying an Aleks Maric turnover was the difference in the game and thus us making the tournament does indeed seem to be blaming him for the loss, or at least that play. Not that big of a deal, but I didn't like it, and still don't. So we can agree to disagree.
  2. And Hoiberg is going to be recruiting coordinator. Helluva team.
  3. Well, unless the English language has changed, I misread nothing. Bad writing by Sam. Added nothing to his point. Actually detracted from it.
  4. I took it as basically blaming Aleks for us not making the tournament. An absurd comment. He could have just said Doc was really close to making the tournament. No reason to name someone in that context. Like last week, when Sam said Connie Yori resigned "amid scandal". Except there wasn't a scandal. Most coaches preach after tough losses that one play doesn't win or lose the game, whether its a bad call (well, except maybe the Penn State '82 and 1/1/94 Orange Bowl), a missed shot, or bad play. I suppose "journalists" don't have to follow that, but it would be fair if they gave it a try. I mean, we could say "Frank wins a Natty and keeps his job if Correll Buckhalter doesn't fumble on the two yard line", but I'm not sure we want to pound on Correll forever. "Bo gets a Big 10 conference title and everything after that is different if Adi doesn't kick it out of bounds". Not fair to pick out one play by one guy as having some transcending meaning.
  5. Nice job getting a shot in on Aleks, Sam. You think we're even in a bunch of those games with him, including that one? Of all the players on all the crappy teams in one of the crappiest programs ever, you have to get in a shot on a guy like that. Probably could have made your point without going there. Hell, while you're at it, go after Turner Gill for a bad pass on the two point conversion.
  6. MSU, Purdue and Indiana all still alive in the NIT. Former Husker Hannah Tvrdy ended her career with a 21 point effort in a big loss for CSU to South Dakota (she scored 21 of her team's 49). Credit to Hannah as she really improved her game in college, and became a much better player than I thought she could be.
  7. Congrats and props to Jimmy. Even though you tried to tank it on the last game, you had such a huge lead built up you couldn't do it. Still accomplishing great things in your retirement! And thanks to HuskerFever for running the contest. The prompt reporting and side bets made for a great year.
  8. I have them as well. And I'd say NU participating is in question.
  9. Well, you might be a little cautious in going to the well again, given how your "source" has been so blatantly wrong in the past. Close to the program or not, he isn't reliable.
  10. Well, the third grade was on spring break last week
  11. Too bad today's game wasn't cancelled also. We are not a good team
  12. Well never mind then. Righttttt.
  13. Not going after Pitino wouldn't involve the stomach. It would involve the brain, heart, and internal character to not go after him. And hopefully for the last time: Hoiberg IS. NOT. COMING. HERE. NO.MATTER.WHAT. He is not. And neither is Dana Altman. For the love of God, people, stop it with those two names.
  14. Thread is harsh, for this board. Have at it
  15. Cip, will get out there as soon as I can, but I will pay. Thanks for playing!
  16. It's one thing to think you don't have to be 4-5 years out on a contract to recruit. It's another to think not extending for 3 straight years would't have an effect on recruiting, on assistants sticking around, on the whole program. Not extending him here, for the 3rd straight year, would be an absolutely clear signal to the world that he's not your guy, and no one can operate successfully in that situation. No, after 2 straight years of not extending him, you either move on or you give him a chance by extending at least 2 more years.
  17. Lars, I don't recommend taking up gambling anytime soon
  18. Well, if he doesn't I wouldn't make a federal case out of it. MSU is 18-2 at home in a pretty good league.
  19. So of course today we get up 7-0 and have a grand slam....
  20. Good points. FYI, Hallmark had an absolutely terrible game yesterday. Was completely lost at the plate. Also struggled in the field, and Darin yanked him for Kleinke in the 6th. Maybe it was just one game, but it didn't look good. Outside of Schreiber, Wilkening, and Repinski, possibly Roskam, everyone is average at best. And Repinski is a defensive liability, and a senior. We are in desperate need of a talent infusion.
  21. OK; thanks.
  22. Seriously, just a question clear out of nowhere? WTF. Sounded like a loaded question at a minimum.
  23. A couple of things: I'm not sure we even make it to Omaha, based on what i am seeing (I attend the games). A key injury to our handful of legitimate players or one more pitcher would be doomsday. My pessimistic report was meant more as a 2018 issue and not to be as critical of Erstad as stated by 13. Winning a regular season championship last year buys more time from my perspective; I realize 13 will not agree. I have also heard from some very knowledgeable baseball people that Erstad has figured out some things in recruiting and there is a dramatic change with the 2019-20 commits. If we can get through this year better times are ahead. Again, 13 won't agree and that is fine, For me, I'm not interested in repeating over and over again that Tom hired an inexperienced guy, Ersty should have figured it out sooner, etc. and rehashing the past. I haven't given up on Erstad, which might seem inconsistent with my view of the 2018 roster (Note, the pitching injuries are a 10-15 game difference, perhaps in having a more respectable 2018. Some baseball people blame that rash of arm injuries on Silva, but that's a whole different discussion). Inconsistent or not, so be it.
