Call the ticket office. or call the development office; those folks are good at knowing what donations bring what benefits

FYI: The rotund fella on the corner stool at the bar with a mug will be Norm.

Oregan is in the finals. No slouch that we lost to.

Checked out the photos. Glad I played 35 years ago, 'cause there's no way I'm seeing the floor with these athletes. They look like college guys. The world has changed a bunch.

Danny Nee's practices were open. Barry Collier closed them. I remember calling the coach's call in show when Collier was first hired and asking if he was going to keep practices open like Nee did. Collier responded with a very brief and to-the-point "no." And I didn't go to any more practices until Doc arrived. Interesting. That was before my time (i.e. I hadn't graduate from high school yet...) I bet Nee's practices were interesting... The one I remember going to was mid-90s. Gary Bargen ran a lot of the practice and Danny pretty much stood in the corner throughout practice and just watched. Then, at the end of practice, the team gets together in mid-court and Danny comes out and just obliterates one of the players with this profanity-laced tirade that just took me by complete surprise. In all the practices of Doc's that I went to, I never once saw Doc treat a player the way Danny did. Doc was kid gloves in comparison. So, when that player boycott occurred, it was no big surprise to me. These tirades were the rule rather than the exception. I saw him get after Eric Johnson one time that made even me blush. And once I had a board meeting for a group in the press room off the Devaney floor. While we were waiting for lunch, a couple of the nice ladies from the group, mid 50s, made the mistake of walking to the floor to take in a bit of practice, right when Danny went off with one of the most unique combination of F bombs, directly in the face of some poor player, that I have ever heard. I'll never forget the look on the ladies faces when they came back into the press room. Eyes like saucers and the color drained from thier faces. Of course, I saw Danny do the same thing to Janet once also. He was a great guy to have a drink with, but he had a, shall we say, aggressive side as well.

Conner Beranek had 32 last night for Doane

I had to have my 2500th post on something, so it might as well be responding to you smart guys on the perversion of my name with the advent of this fancy new Board. I only tried for about 6 hours to keep submitting "HB", despite getting the notice that it wouldn't accept a 2 character user name. Until Dimes came up with this stylish alternative, which Norm is now calling me out on. In the words of my kids, all I can say is...."Not my fault". Not my fault either that I didn't know that hitting "quote" to Dimes' post wouldn't capture Norm's smart guy post. My motto continues: "Change is Bad" This....just....happened. I stand corrected, Dimes. THAT kind of change is GOOD!

The one thing we don't know is just how limited Peltz is with his partially torn patellar tendon. I suspect it is quite a bit. I realize that shouldn't affect his shot, but it likely affects all other parts of his game. So, if off season surgery fixes that, perhaps the next year Peltz is a different guy than the this year's Peltz.

Agree completely with this

Based on this thread, I would say that Creighton Fan is a lot closer to Cousin Mose as a poster than Double Jay Alum. I agree with the above concerns being legitimate. I am hopeful Parker can shoot it better whan he has shown, but I'm far from confident when it is going up. And Pelz and Rivers--I suspect the D will continue to give those fellas lots of space.

like my wife putting. She can have a 4 foot putt and hit it 12. Or have a 12 foot putt and hit it 4.

I certainly won't call you any names; you've been a quality poster on this board for years and are a standup guy. Plus you have an unmatched appetite! But I disagree about under achieving, certainly this year. Oregan had a more talented team, and the best player on the floor. Again, it's how one looks at it. The success in the first set could have been great coaching and having the team really ready to go--indeed overachieving--and then the more talented Ducks settled in and got it done. As opposed to us choking or under achieving. It's competitive out there, and we've done quite well. I am concerned where we're at with recruiting, but if we start firing coaches who win conference titles and make elite 8s, we're a disgrace to higher education and intercollegiate athletics, and we've lost all perspective. And I would take a proven winner over hoping to get someone who will make final fours every single year.

I disagree on the "we should be like a steamroller come tourney time" take. That's when we play GREAT teams. It only makes sense that we should steamroll at tourney time if we have superior talent. We don't have that anymore. Nor do we have the dominating player teams usually have that win national titles. I realize people can then say "well, who is in responsible for the recruiting?" But realistically, we're not going to have superior talent or a superstar each and every year. Another take could be that superior coaching allows us to start out hot and reach #1. As the season wears on, talent equalization takes over. That's closer to my take, and I watch a lot of volleyball. Our recruiting of athletes has fallen off a bit in recent years. The competition continues to rise as the money involved increases and more schools emphasize volleyball and the depth of quality coaches increases. I really find it sad when people don't appreciate conferences championships and elite 8 appearances, and equate it to "doing nothing".

Just my opinion Long Time, but I say no. Although she is very weak for her size--her upper body strength is lacking--perhaps that is a result of the back surgery due to an in ability to work on strength training for an extended period of time. She isn't very skilled either. Great kid, but doesn't appear close to providing much on the floor, so it's hard to give her much playing time.

Correct Row 6; I hated to miss it. Glad you brought us through! Appreciate the post game comments.

He won a big 10 championship and went to the Elite 8. I wouldn't call that not doing all that much the last couple of years.

HHCC Game #8 - Dec 6 vs. Creighton (7:00 PM)

Connie essentially agreed with you in her post-game comments. She was much more critical of our defense than our offense. Said we played like we have practiced with regard to defense. Didn't play within our system, make the proper rotations, communicate, and couldn't defend the drive, causing us to leave the shooters.

Row 6, Brandi's grandmother passed away and she is back home to attend her funeral. She may not be back for Florida State saturday. It sounded like Cady had some air balls, near air balls, and bricks. When Hoop is double-teamed, someone has to step up and make them pay. Sample is doing it to the best of her abilities. Need another shooter. Theriot is struggling with her shot as well as with her defense.
-
Wow, it's really a struggle for the Huskers these days. Too many players who can't shoot have to be on the floor at any one time. We continue to be pitiful from 3 point land. They took Hooper out of the game. Needed to have Cady step up but the sophomore slump continues.

Interestingly enough, it was Doc who pushed to sign Chapman in the first place. His assistants were very skeptical, and Doc said "No, he can play, I'm going to sign him". Too bad it didn't work out. He worked hard everytime I watched him in practice. Not sure if he had any success after he left here or not. I had a similar situation in high school--my older brother was a teacher at a school we played, at the other school's town. His students were giving him a hard time, he was all set to watch me play, parents made the road trip.......you guessed it; I don't leave the bench, didn't play a second, and I thought the world had ended. Never saw it coming.

I'd sure love Andre to stay out of foul trouble, but I don't see that happening. But if he gets fouls, I sure hope he gets his money's worth.
-
Jayhawk, welcome and thanks for the recruiting props. I will be at the KU-Colorado game saturday. I've been in Allen Field House but this will be the first game I'll see. Looking forward to it.

OK, quick, if we could have only 1 win in the next 2 games ...

Creighton. Easily. All the class displayed by Cousin Mose can't overcome Double Jay Alum, Matt Perrault (sorry, CWG), and the khaki and sweater vest clad superior beings who will be woofing in our gym thursday night.
